Damn! I need to look up "Toms" - I was sad to find out that I missed when you were around in Toronto. I want to explore like you mentioned from Toronto....sounds thrilling!
Andrew Peterson is a terrible human being, at best a mediocre photographer and uses the pack of wild dogs that follows him to pursue his agenda. He attempts to ruin people's lives through libel and supports stealing artwork for personal gain.
There are two DMUs now and still lots of fun, and google+ sucks balls
Since the dreaded Heather & her flying monkey left flickr, things are better fyi
Google doesn't want to be associated with porn? LOL! are you kidding?
Flickr offers a sharp edgey genre for people who can handle it properly
Google+ is more for the emotional sensitive types who enjoy long boring lectures about photography, and maybe can't handle being in an environment where they might have their feelings hurt
Flickr failed to... innovate. It's still the same website I found 6 yrs ago when I joined and subscribed as a Pro. Have a look at the Ideas Group to see how frustrating for a normal person is flickr. 1000s of ideas proposed and nobody knows if they will be ever considered. With users speculating about what flickr will do/is planning to do. Most pointless group ever that shows how flickr is superior. Not.
Am sorry but:
(1) Was he texting on his cell phone or even looking at the incoming messages while giving his presentation?
(2) It would've been GREAT to actually see some photos of this photographer and not just his face most of the time.

G+ isn't a replacement, but way much better.

Fascinating insight into Thomas's approach. I have often wondered how he balances his family life with his photography. :)
