It is true, whether you girls believe this was a "mock" ritual or not, the God and Goddess (and all other respective deities) are always watching. A prayer, be it in any language, any form (from kneeling before a Christian altar or standing in a pagan circle)...they are all welcomed and heard, so long as they are offered in good will. As for "dedicating" yourself, you don't need a ritual. You can do it quietly at home or shout it loud in public, "I AM WICCAN!" ;p

Dedicate yourself anywhere you wish even in a room alone at home, without a candle is completely fine, imagine a flame if you want to. You can be walking in a country park and simply dedicate yourself speaking in your mind or somewhere alone. When you are limited as to what you can do The God and Goddess does not judge you, only others might and it is not there business how you dedicate, it is personal especially for a solitary practitioner.
