ive been on methadone for 5 years. ive found that a combination of neurontin and clonidine helps with opiate withdrawals when detoxing. the last time i detoxed i took both and didnt suffer at all. i slept fine and didnt really have any wd symptoms. both are non narcotic and can be ordered legally online for around 150 dollars for a few months supply. i would highly recommend this.

I was on 65mg of methadone for 4 years..because of some bullshit at the clinic they detoxed me in 10 days..This was around thanksgiving. I am just now physically starting to feel better..so 3 months for me..it will prob be another 3 months to get over the mental hell too..I lapsed a few times cause I couldn't take not sleeping, eating, or being able to smoke a boggie.Worst shit I have EVER been through..AND I went to detox for 10 days and still felt sick when I got home..METH withdrwl is NO JOKE
Dude, methadone stayed in my bones for three weeks. I felt it leave my body one night-the last of it-no shit after weekn 4 or so. I sweat for an hour and took a bath, then I was fine. Weird huh? I was only on it for three months too... blah fuck methadone morphine and oxys suck, but at least at day 11 you have strength... Nueropathy, Ulcaerrtive Colitis, but keep it up man, I'm using lyrica to withdrawal off of suboxone... lyrica and immodiom-kick ass man I AM proud of you as well.

papanru80. it's hard to take that dfirst step and can scare the biggest of men in life. but you got to get mind strong i feel. coz a lot of the pain you will feel is coz your making your self think you are. iv done two day's with out methadome and went from 20mg to nothing. but know matter what dose your on i think the detox is as bad as any other. i will say tho iv had nothing two day's and be 3 soon, but it's not started yet when iv never been able to got the 24 34 hour mark
i have serious back problems that are trying to be fixed but arnt yet, and the doc wont give me my own medicine cuz i failed a drug test last year. but that was only bcuz i had nothing to take so i got oxy's and perc's off a friend. im scared to get off the meds once my back is hopefully fixed. your video's are really giving me hope tho...thanks

@TaylorAmelia On methadone do not listen to what the doctors say stay clean and reduce gradually down to 2mls over a period of a year or two. Once ur on 2mls u can stop without WDs when the time is right, I did that myself so good luck.

I was on 145 mg for a year and then before that man it was vics, percs, oc, op, ir's..whatever opiates for at least 7 years...This shit is so damn hard. i used to take around 90 - 130 mgs a day if i could when i was bad off.im 19 now. i started when i was 13 with my best friend and his moms oxy script. we started selling them for her because she lost her job. after i droped out of high school, my best friend is in prison for 12 years (pos. 165 oxy 80s,52 opana 40s,1/2 oz cocaine.after that i tried to kill myself about 3 times. i locked myself in my room for about 4 days no food no cigs nothing. thats how it started and by the third day
It takes time I detoxes off 90mgs and it took 2 yrs to work it down to 0mgs,as for feelin normal? Well everyone is different a good rule I stard feelin better after a month ,mentally close to 6 months
When did you feel normal again? I'm on 28 mg of methadone & tapering 2 mg every week. I got on methadone to get off oxy because I didnt want to go through oxy withdrawals as I had many times before & didnt want that again. Now I wish I went through the week of oxy withdrawals because I hear it takes 10 times longer to withdraw from methadone =(

@robinwaldo1 no no dont do that man, subs withdraw period is sooooo long like weeks and into months sometime. much longer than oxys, etc. i suggest you do your homework on subs before you try that route. im speaking from personal experience, if you have questions just ask.

Methadone is bad news. I'd sooner cold turkey than go on Methadone maintenance. It has the longest half-life of all the opiates, meaning the longest withdrawals. Why not try Suboxone, or a lesser opiate? I kicked a Poppy-Tea habit by switching to Codeine, waiting out the initial withdrawals (which were still pretty bad but not as bad as cold turkey) then quitting the Codeine cold.
And pot is absolutely necessary. If I didn't have pot, I'd continue to use until I could get some.
I'm on the clinic and have been since October, it saved my life, if you get off it the right way then you wont feel it or at least it won't be as horrible as just stopping.

I give you credit for trying man ...it takes balls. I cut my dose from 125 to 60mg and I have only been on methadone for the last 6 years, no other drugs at all except like tylenol/ibuprofen. @gasmask2012 I was once dosing at 120mg / day of methadone + a shitload more that I bought off of the streets. Today I am on .5mg of Suboxone per day. It has taken me 3 years to go from ~200-300mg of Methadone a day to this miniscule amount of Suboxone and I am confident that at this slow and steady rate I will one day be opiate free. Patience and perseverance is the key, there is no quick way out. I was in so deep I never even thought I would be where I am today. NA has also helped me. GL

@toucanrazor No, stay clear of methadone.....I was prescribed it for heroin and am still on it daily 30 plus years later.......codeine is a doddle compared to methadone withdrawals. stay away....just quit the codeine cold, or taper it off, methadone withdrawal is vile, painful, hideous, ghastly . Still got to go through it, and dreading it. Else will be on it for life. Withdrawals every day til it kicks in in the morning....no fun. [high dose does not hold 24hrs]
@toucanrazor yeah, i think the best thing for you to do with codien is to taper off. Codein and darvocet is on the lower potency level of opiates, but 300 mgs is a LOT still. Maybe finding 2 weeks worth of suboxone (about 4 or 5 8mg suboxone pills) would help too. Not tryna say your withdrawals will be really easy to get through, they just wont be as bad Oxycodone or heroin withdrawals. I heard methadone is aweful.
pot I found, made t withdrawals, even more intense. Some people, like to use pot, to help alleviate t symptoms. I found, when coming off benzo's, that t pot, made all t symptoms 3 x as bad. it makes u even more aware of how shitty yu feel. Plz be careful before yu smoke thinkin it will help
PS Youre right, cannabis is a helper when you're in that situation - it basically takes your mind off of your grim predicament & distracts you, you have your flights of fancy & are relaxed a little.. I think chonging away 24/7 may be a bit too much, its better to save having a smoke for when you are REALLY bad so you don't get used to it & it has more effect. Aside from that regular showers are awesome (cleans you up, you can regulate your temperature), exercise, beers and music/things you like.
@toucanrazor No, don't do it.. You are on a high does of codeine but an equal or high does of Methadone certainly will NOT help you! The side effects are vile, drinking this sick medicene every day, sweating almost constantly, your mood and testosterone is screwed up, it gets right into your body and is a nightmare to get off. Methadone is probably one of the worst drugs ever made. Especially when it used to "safely" detox someone from opiates like Heroin and Oxycodone. It is horrible. I know I have been there.

yo what yall need to know is opiates destroy your brain chemistry...even worse methadone..yall made the mistake of getting on methadone in the first place...but since the damage is done....GO TO REHAB!!!!!!!!! GET OF ALL DRUGS!!! i was so strung out that i didnt sleep for more than 30 min every two days for 3 weeks...theres no easy way to do it....buck up bite the bullet....deal with the depression for a few weeks...and get involved with your recovery...go to a meeting...help out another addict

ive been on methadone for 5 years. ive found that a combination of neurontin and clonidine helps with opiate withdrawals when detoxing. the last time i detoxed i took both and didnt suffer at all. i slept fine and didnt really have any wd symptoms. both are non narcotic and can be ordered legally online for around 150 dollars for a few months supply. i would highly recommend this.

Dude, methadone stayed in my bones for three weeks. I felt it leave my body one night-the last of it-no shit after weekn 4 or so. I sweat for an hour and took a bath, then I was fine. Weird huh? I was only on it for three months too... blah fuck methadone morphine and oxys suck, but at least at day 11 you have strength... But yeah ive been in and out of clinics myself for going on 3 years now, so i completely understand your frustration with the limited travel, and early morning drives (i drive an HOUR there and an HOUR back EVER morning ) so yeah if subs work for you and you get take homes than yes

Methadone is bad news. I'd sooner cold turkey than go on Methadone maintenance. It has the longest half-life of all the opiates, meaning the longest withdrawals. Why not try Suboxone, or a lesser opiate? I kicked a Poppy-Tea habit by switching to Codeine, waiting out the initial withdrawals (which were still pretty bad but not as bad as cold turkey) then quitting the Codeine cold.
And pot is absolutely necessary. If I didn't have pot, I'd continue to use until I could get some.

I give you credit for trying man ...it takes balls. I cut my dose from 125 to 60mg and I have only been on methadone for the last 6 years, no other drugs at all except like tylenol/ibuprofen. Its pure hell man and most dont even try that long. keep at it man this is part of the process , u are atleast in the battle now .. there will be many defeats along the way but keep going...try walking hars at night it helps....goodluck

@AtheistPharmacist Well, (and sorry i took so long to reply) I guess my main motivation at the time was my relationship with my girlfriend of 2 years, not having insurance too and it would be a lie to say that paying cash out of my girlfriends pocket wasnt a factor...but also my best friend died on jan 20th right before my birthday on jan.23rd..he died from heroin. he was 20 years old. he was my best friend, so that shit really got to me, and i looked at my life and said enough is enough

@gasmask2012 I was once dosing at 120mg / day of methadone + a shitload more that I bought off of the streets. Today I am on .5mg of Suboxone per day. It has taken me 3 years to go from ~200-300mg of Methadone a day to this miniscule amount of Suboxone and I am confident that at this slow and steady rate I will one day be opiate free. Patience and perseverance is the key, there is no quick way out. I was in so deep I never even thought I would be where I am today. NA has also helped me. GL

@toucanrazor No, stay clear of methadone.....I was prescribed it for heroin and am still on it daily 30 plus years later.......codeine is a doddle compared to methadone withdrawals. stay away....just quit the codeine cold, or taper it off, methadone withdrawal is vile, painful, hideous, ghastly . Still got to go through it, and dreading it. Else will be on it for life. Withdrawals every day til it kicks in in the morning....no fun. [high dose does not hold 24hrs]

@toucanrazor yeah, i think the best thing for you to do with codien is to taper off. Codein and darvocet is on the lower potency level of opiates, but 300 mgs is a LOT still. Maybe finding 2 weeks worth of suboxone (about 4 or 5 8mg suboxone pills) would help too. Not tryna say your withdrawals will be really easy to get through, they just wont be as bad Oxycodone or heroin withdrawals. I heard methadone is aweful.

pot I found, made t withdrawals, even more intense. Some people, like to use pot, to help alleviate t symptoms. I found, when coming off benzo's, that t pot, made all t symptoms 3 x as bad. it makes u even more aware of how shitty yu feel. Plz be careful before yu smoke thinkin it will help

PS Youre right, cannabis is a helper when you're in that situation - it basically takes your mind off of your grim predicament & distracts you, you have your flights of fancy & are relaxed a little.. I think chonging away 24/7 may be a bit too much, its better to save having a smoke for when you are REALLY bad so you don't get used to it & it has more effect. Aside from that regular showers are awesome (cleans you up, you can regulate your temperature), exercise, beers and music/things you like.

@toucanrazor No, don't do it.. You are on a high does of codeine but an equal or high does of Methadone certainly will NOT help you! The side effects are vile, drinking this sick medicene every day, sweating almost constantly, your mood and testosterone is screwed up, it gets right into your body and is a nightmare to get off. yo what yall need to know is opiates destroy your brain chemistry...even worse methadone..yall made the mistake of getting on methadone in the first place...but since the damage is done....GO TO REHAB!!!!!!!!! GET OF ALL DRUGS!!! i was so strung out that i didnt sleep for more than 30 min every two days for 3 weeks...theres no easy way to do it....buck up bite the bullet....deal with the depression for a few weeks...and get involved with your recovery...go to a meeting...help out another addict
