Hey Bomber 88, don't be so technical. When people refer to decades in music there's always gonna be bands that spanned more than one decade but it comes down more to perception than reality. Nothing wrong with saying Nirvana is 90's because that is more what they represent. I've never heard anyone call U-2 90's. They are 80's! It's not worth getting so uptight over it, dude!

@bomber88x wrong decade - most of those bands started in the 80s and at least 2 started in the 70s, namely U2 and the Beastie boys lol :) - eg nirvana(87), smashing pumpkin(88), metallica (81), janes addiction (85), u2, soundgarden (84), sublime (88), phish (85), blind melon (89), Alice in chains (87). What your confised about is the fact that the 90s was when underground music became popular to the masses.
