@Notled2 Cigarettes have a looooooot of dangerous chemicals and nicotine. Tobacco still has a little chem in it, but it's not addictive, and the only really down side is the carbon build up in your mouth, but if you brush everyday you wont even notice it/wont turn you facial hair brown.

I find too many people talking about going to thier tobacconists. i would be very surprised to see if they were truly tobacconist or just the owner of very good pipe and tobacco stores. A true tobacconist would have to be killed before thy would tell you any thing that is in a blend thy made outside of maybe one. ingrediant It is a very closely held formula. @MrDannysuzy I have tried the smokers pride black cavendish in the past. Not recommended. The black cavendish I picked up at my local pipe and cigar shop is much better. The quality of your tobacco is one of the most important factors to enjoying pipe smoking. A high quality tobacco in a corn cob pipe will probably be better than smokers pride in a $100 briar pipe.

@bgsdfhugvufbgv That is best remedied by just inserting a pipe cleaner into the pipe while smoking. You can experience a build up of moisture in the bottom of the bowl, giving you a gurgling smoke (especially in a bent a pipe), whereas in a straight pipe it can easily end up in your mouth. Using a pipe cleaner to soak up the moisture from the stem, shank and bottom of the bowl will fix it, help keep your pipe clean and dry, and also make your smoke more pleasurable :)

@bgsdfhugvufbgv Peterson Pipes are good starter pipes becuase they have a chamber that collects this. Moisture typically occurs if you smoke the pipe too hot. Slow up a bit and don't pack your "baccy" too tight. Takes practice...you'll get it over time.

Actually cannabis was smoked originally out of wooden pipes. Thomas Jefferson smoked hemp from his wooden pipe. Tobacco is as much a drug as cannabis, yet tobacco puts a risk towards mental and physical health while cannabis doesn't. "use drug pipes for drugs" is derogatory towards the cannabis community and no better than the people who look down on ciggarette smokers.

@hamsteerio I haven't found any reliable evidence that Thomas Jefferson smoked cannabis. He did grow it though. In those days people used clay pipes for smoking tobacco. If people were smoking cannabis, presumably they would use the same pipes they used for tobacco.

Tobacco pipes aren't good for cannabis. A pipe like you see in this video is best for pipe tobacco. Hookahs are best for hookah tobacco. There are other pipes better suited to smoking things other than tobacco

@MrKevin396 First off pipe smoking is not about the buzz, most pipe smokers don't care if they get a buzz or not (me included). Secondly most pipe tobacco's don't have much nicotine (except for burley, Turkish and Perique) so even if you were to inhale you would get little effect from most pipe tobacco (look at latakia it's strong in taste but has almost no nicotine) And lastly MOST pipe tobacco don't have chemicals added to them so the buzz would be very different than a cigarette (it's yucky!)

@MrKevin396 He's right. Pipes are meant to burn long, and taste good. There's is no purpose to inhaling other than the minor head buzz, which goes away after you do it enough. That's why there is a far larger variety of pipe tobacco than cigarettes because cigarettes are meant to be inhaled and addicted to, pipe tobacco has many varieties of flavors and qualities that each smoker may pick to be his favorite.
