@ClassicTVful if not for the series' legal troubles, we would've gotten Dalton Bond flicks in '91 and '93. It would've been great seeing the storylines we might've gotten reflecting those particular times.
When this movie came out, there was alot of negative talk when people heard DuranDuran was doing the opening title music. "Not Classy enough for Bond!" they said. "Pop/Rock boys? That's not Bond music!" they said. Then in the theater, when the frame came up saying "Title song performed by DURAN DURAN" the ennnnnntire theater erupted in cheers and applause!!! It was a moment I'll never forget.
Composed by John Barry says it all, now I know why I loved this song for some 25 years. I never knew Mr. Barry had anything to do with this song. Your music will live on forever!!
Damn those Moore Bonds are exciting, even the lesser ones rock in fact in some ways even more so because of their distinctly weird, surreal qualities. Roger is forever my Bond.
My favourite Bond songs: 1. Live and Let Die 2. Spy Who Loved Me 3. Diamonds Are Forever 4. You Only Live Twice 5. Goldeneye 6. You Know My Name 7. Goldfinger 8. From Russia With Love Worst: 1. Another Way to Die 2. The Living Daylights 3. The Man With the Golden Gun 4. View to a Kill (sorry) 5. Die Another Day 6. All Time High
Horrible movie..the only saving grace (literally) was Grace Jones as May Day...I was begging for someone to push Tanya Roberts off the Golden Gate Bridge..
@hdf561 well, it seems sir that you like the worst bond films. what do you think of goldfinger, live and let die and golden eye? hey that rymes im a poet and i didnt even know it. oh back to the point, yeah those are some of the best . dan craig is .......^#@&..... yeah not very good.
moonraker is not the best, but certainly a diffferent perspective into bond's journeys... i personally would go for the spy who loved me and octopussy's soundtracks...
I beg to differ. This one, bad as it was, at least had Christopher Walken and an exciting finale on top of the Golden Gate. What was Moonraker's saving grace?
Did I mention that Timothy Dalton was the best Bond? Seriously, he did it better than ANY of the other guys. I do love this opening sequence though. This is a great song.
This movie is side splittingly hilarious - Tanya Roberts' acting in general, Grace Jones as she's preparing for a gallant, defiant death and the best of all.... the old Nazi doctor who 'created' Max preparing to toss the dynamite, with psychotic euphoria. Fucking genius.
I don't think you can really compare the bonds or put them into 'classes' because everyone has their own acting style and plays bond the way they want to play him.
The only thing that you can compare bond to is the books and the films depict the books very well.
and one of the flaws it had was that since it was Christopher Walken who portrayed Max Zorin, there was one thing View to a Kill lacked which would've made it good: adding some cowbell
dalton plus connery, moore (funny attitude was important at this time!), brosnan, craig (hast to to a few more) BUT lazenby was the right person for this episode "feelings were requested" > can u imagine connery being kind of soft in important moments?
This song was one of the Bond songs where the titles for the film synched up perfectly with the lyrics of the song. Sadly, none of the Bond movies in the last 15 yrs have done that.
I remember hearing this theme when my Dad was watching the movie and singing the lyrics.. My Dad and Mum were like "how do I know the song?" I just smiled "it's Duran Duran!!" When I saw Duran live in 2005 they played this track, again a big smile "had my Dad in the back of my head" lol
Dalton was the best Bond. He was everything that was cool about Bond all in one guy, none of the other guys had that. Had he chosen to continue the role, I think more people would have appreciated him more by now. License to Kill is still my favorite Bond film.
It's wierd because when I did see the Dalton movies a few years ago . . . I liked them because they were different. Of course, I needed almost fifteen years and then Spike Tv to show them for me to go - not too bad.
connery was the best, but dalton was a close second. i like that he was more like the novels, than any of the rest of them. plus he made bond a badass again. roger moore's bond was almost a pansy.
@ad287 Very true. If Dalton would have done a View To A Kill and Goldeneye, he would have been more appreciated. It seems we Dalton fans are in the minority.
this is scary if u read this this far u will die in 10 days if u dont send to any 15 videos in 2 hours good luck hope u dont die !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roger Moore did what he could at his age, I commend him for effort. Tanya Roberts was the only one who failed hard, since Chris Walken and Grace Jones were amazing. And the song is my favorite James Bond OP theme.
nice film, but roger is little too old,and that disgusting black woman is terrible, but max zorin make pretty good classic villain,i can imagine pierce brosnan in this film,he would be great i think
I find you're very hard against this JB. Don't forget it was in 1985, and the script is quite in advance on time (electronic, silicone valley, etc...) Grace Jones is a fabulous "anti-james bond girl" , but I agree about tania Roberts which has no charism. Christopher Walken is great in this.
It's probably not the best JB, but i'd put this one just after Octopussy and Leave and let die
Great Song, Great Music by John Barry, BUT a truly bad flic. EVEN Roger that it was crap. Tanya Roberts was THE WORST. I screamed at the end of the movie for James Bond to drop her off the Golden Gate Bridge!!!
This was definitely the best Bond opening. Right around 1:10, it starts with the pimp shit. I always thought the chick doing the little hand motions was pretty cool. Maybe this wasn't the best Bond movie, but I think anybody who grew up in the 80s probably appreciates this one more than some of the others becuz it was one of the first ones they saw. Even though I know that there are others that are better, I can always watch this one. It definitely has its moments. And Tanya Roberts....yikes!
What is wrong with you people. A View To A Kill is the best Bond Movie becuse Moore was 58 when he did it. Connery should have never been hired to play the role. Anyone that does not like this movie is not a true Bond fan.
I do not understand what is wrong with this Movie Roger Moore, Max Zorin, Stacey Sutton, and May Day were excellant. Explain why you do not like "A View To A Kill"!

I think Drax was superb with his deadpan delivery of some choice lines. Best villain lines ever ..
"You arrive at a capricious moment. Your country's one contribution to civilisation ... afternoon tea."
"Look after Mr Bond. See that some harm comes to him."
and my favourite:
"Mr Bond. You appear with the tedious inevitability of an unloved season."
Lines like that made me believe this guy was intelligent enough to design an operating stealth space station.

Not counting Craig because I haven't watched his movies . . . but
1. Connery: Still the best Bond in my opinion. Sure he isn't what the books had in mind, but he worked for the movies.
2. Bronsen: Modern day Connery.
3. Moore: About to end his run during my childhood. Liked him more back then.
4. Dalton: Took the character away from other Bonds. Unique, but they needed more than two years back then to reboot Bond with a polar opposite.
5. Lazenby: Poor attempt to act like Connery

Walken was great but Moore was too old at this point. And Stacey Sutton was terrible. This isn't the worst Bond movie, but it was pretty bad.

What is wrong with you people. A View To A Kill is the best Bond Movie becuse Moore was 58 when he did it. Connery should have never been hired to play the role. Anyone that does not like this movie is not a true Bond fan.
