All I have to say is, no matter how many supporters Sen Paul has, he will always carry the Muslim and anti-Semite vote in a basically Christian country. There is no way he can win.
@Goohuman Sen Paul is Rand Paul the Senator son. I think you mean Rep Paul which is Ron Paul the next POTUS. Nice try at repeating the TV though. BTW, if you would read up on him and his message you will find he is no racist...despite what the TV tells you.
@mobagot Thank you for the clarification. I am not calling him a bigot, just that he has positioned himself to gather the bigots to his side. That is a liability in our country. Supporting Ron Paul means you associate with a lot of bigots. But I do not believe Ron Paul is bigotted or racist at all. I just want to make that clear.
It would be nice if Ron Paul would stick to the economy, budget, civil liberties instead of blabbering on about "business cycle" and monetary policy. Some people tune out the second you talk about those things. In almost all cases you're talking above peoples heads.
@joffeloff But it isn't on message. Not a single candidate has came out swinging on a balanced budget. The only one that would do it is Ron Paul. He needs to lead with his most popular arguments: civil liberties, balanced budget, shrink government, remove regulations. They ask about Iran, he needs to say "Iran is more fiscally responsible than us.' They talk about abortion, he says "why is government so big?" When he says "monetary policy" he turns off voters.
Exit polls show that much of Ron Paul's support comes from outside the Republican party, from left-leaning independents or even Democrats.
Ron Paul didn't win Iowa. He didn't win New Hampshire. He won't win S.C. today, he won't win Florida or any other U.S. state. So why does he stay in the race? His real aim is to take the GOP hostage, threatening to withhold his followers' votes unless the GOP agrees to adopt positions that are anathema to most conservatives.
Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent.
NICK GILLESPIE YOUR ARE WRONG ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PEOPLE OF GEORGIA WANT THEIR FREEDOM BACK AND REPEAL THE FED GOV FROM IMPOSING LAWS THAT THE STATE HAS A WRIGHT TO LEGISLATE AND THEY ARE NOT SHEEP AND DO NOT NEED TO BE LED BY THE FED GOV THEY HAVE MINDS LIKE ANY ONE ELSE AND CAN THINK FOR THEMSELVES I RECENT YOUR COMMENT THAT THE PEOPLE FROM THE SOUTH HAVE TO BE LED
people of Georgia are ignorant just like any other state in this country. This country is filled with people who can't think for themselves nor explain themselves in a rational way. They just continue to let the TV think for them and believe that our government is out to help them.
@roberetrodgers As a native South Carolinian, you sir took the words right out of my mouth. Nick couldn't be any more wrong about the good citizens of SC! Thus his analysis holds no water.
He will need to run as an Independent. Big money will not back him. Would be great for the nation to know that the people will leave their party! Vote Ron Paul!
With all these clowns running every yer, its no wonder that Voters just don't vote anymore. What is it, 30 per cent of the people vote.?? Its a shame! Time to wake up those 70 percent who are watching this country die everyday. VOTE PEOPLE VOTE!! Vote out these Government "Bought out" politicans, and lets get a REAL Leader in office for once!!! America is doomed if Ron Paul is not elected.
"The Republican party is just a mirror of the Democratic party..." Pretty much, the only difference between conservatism and liberalism is what rights they wish to stomp on first. We are going to get a Libertarian president this time around, the warfare and welfare states cannot last.
@flyyspit If Republicans (read neocons) elect someone other than Ron Paul, then the nation is fucked for another 4 years. The current leader on the "Republican" ticket is Romney. Or as I like to call him, Obama wite (play on the term lite, as in lite beer. I know how to spell white).
I'm watching the CNN debate. Ron Paul is doing a pretty damn good job based on the general approval of the crowd. A crowd that mostly consists of neo-cons I should add.
@ImNeilPatrickHarris You're sick of the libertarian message growing bigger than it ever has been, via Ron Paul's presidential campaign? You must not be a libertarian then.
This is great keep up the good work Reason. We need the youth to become more active and these fresh new bills are really getting a lot of attention. Me says all of this energy will wind up in Ron Paul's favor.
Speaking as a SC native, South Carolina is just too ass backwards to wake up and vote for someone who will actually employ an administration centering around individual freedom. Most Republican voters in SC are the backwards bible thumping types who think if you allow people the freedom to make their own choices in life, then the end result will be anarchy and the dissolution of the family unit. Sure, SC Republicans talk a big game about freedom, but they really don't give a damn.
@S1aptasticSquadalah Too true. I don't live in SC so maybe you'd have to correct me but I suspect that the large military presence there also sort of has voters harboring a lot of jingoism, generally. The other Republican candidates have done an easy, effective job of slapping the "anti-war = anti-military" card on him. I don't think he'll be able to overcome that, no matter how silly, false, and frustrating it is.
As we watch one counterfeit conservative after another implode and leave the race, let us hope the GOP voter will wake up, join us, the Independent Voters of America and elect a true constitutional conservative... RON PAUL !
@RedTory59 - This is much more than just winning an election. It is about changing history. 15% leads to 20, leads to 30, leads to a majority. Unless we come together and all agree that our personal liberty is at stake with the ever increasing Big Government, then the Republic is doomed. Thank God the young people get it, and they will hopefully carry the Ron Paul Revolution forward as the Government and fake politicians keeps on failing.
@RightWingTV What's great about Ron Paul is that he doesn't have to win. The movement he's inspired will continue on even after his death, when all of the young people who have offered their support will rise up and become the libertarian candidates of tomorrow.
@RedTory59 While I think the idea that Paul will win SC is just way off base, I think Paul getting near 20 points in not impossible. If you look at NH polls vs NH results, Paul got 5 points above his polls there, is there a reason we should believe he might not do that again? He is polling at 15-16% on the last polls, if he does the same jump in SC he could get 20 and take a sold 2nd place again.
All I have to say is, no matter how many supporters Sen Paul has, he will always carry the Muslim and anti-Semite vote in a basically Christian country. There is no way he can win.
