  • What kind of bass do you own? I just upgraded to an awesome bass :)

  • which key is this in? and did you have to retune any strings differently than the standard EADG? just curious because I am trying to learn the C Major version of this on the bass and honostly you are the best bassist i have found so far :/

  • @that1guy0071 it looks like g minor. Thats what I would GUESS from his hand position. g minor is a good key on this song because you get to use the advantage of the open g which appears often.

  • the harmonics at the end are beautiful. perfect tuning.

  • @Pietroisdead harmonics are always in tune if the strings are in tune

  • Beautiful!!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Still have some hairs standing on end :D

  • Incredible intonation. That's a tricky piece for the bass!

  • superbe

  • Omg! I play the double bass and i hope ill be that good one day!!

  • awesome ! great work! i play the d bass and im hoping ill play that piece some day

  • fucking A man!!!

  • I can't stop listening either. Thank you - you're marvellous! And thanks also to Bach for such a beautifully composed piece of music.

  • i can't stop listening to this really..

  • Played sans vibrato - excellent accuracy! Your dextrous thumb position work made the side of my own left thumb sore just watching you! Well done! In the 1960's, Leonard Bernstein introduced "The Carnival of the Animals" to a youthful audience and the Swan was played on the bass rather than the usual cello. It sounded rich, full and perfectly natural and I wondered why it hasn't been done more often. I suppose it wouldn't do to upset the 1st cello of the orchestra by farming out "his" piece!

  • PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what?!! AMAZING! I personally play the viola but I've always been intrigued by the bass. This was awesome.

  • WOW! Amazing!

  • nicely done.

  • I just heard this on a viola.... it is also as good as you did with this perfect work @goodchildbass!!! thanks for uploading your magic.....

  • Where did you get sheet music

  • Hmmmmm....I like it! Do you also play the cello? Stay at it...you will do great things.

  • Fucking prefect..

  • Very nice tone, one suggestion: play slightly closer to the bridge for pretty much the whole song to give great tone to every one of your notes. Overall though, very well played.

  • amazing:o on the second chord do you leave your thumb on the E?:O i've tried too but it hurts to much :s

  • Thank you very much. The art is the true god.

  • rather sloppy

  • what is that on your bass head???

  • @Exilelangely its called a C extension:o its used to play as low as a cello can :d

  • @WestleyLam Well seeing as double bass sounds an octave lower than written, its already lower than cello...

  • @Jwk1706 I think you may have misunderstood my comment, It's really obvious that the double bass is much deeper then the cello.....only an idiot wouldn't think so.. What I was trying to say is that Cellist's lowest note they can play is a C, and usually the double bass is an E, so with the C extension, the Double bass player can also play down to that C below the stave if you know what I mean?

  • @WestleyLam I must have misunderstood you then :) yeah i know all that, I play Both :D

  • Holy fucking hell you're the bomb.

  • Are you using a German bow?

  • @EddiesMagicalLand That's actually a French bow.

  • Swag.

  • Very good!! What fingering do you use on the second and third chord (second and third bar)? Thumb position on the note E on second string? Thanks

  • Well done!

  • That was awesome. Definitley repeating this a few times!

  • you rock I wish I could play this

  • Hey Men you are incredible xD

  • could use some more uber micro

  • excellent!

  • so clear

  • ahahahahhaa great job!

  • O.o;;... That bass has a scroll of a Mongolian Moorin Khur :O Fancy xD...

Well done, I love the quality of the video and the music. Thanks for uploading!

  • you're an amazing player. i play bass and you make me want to work harder.

  • This really should have more views. I'm a cellist myself but I have played the double bass a little, and I know that it is so much more difficult to play with a good intonation than cello. This is a great performance; solid quality all through the piece. Wow!

  • so different from a cello! So good!

  • Congrats on being like by Coheed and Cambria

  • @AtomicFaxMachine the greatest honor

  • @AtomicFaxMachine LUCKY SOB

  • Only 12,000 plus views?! Sheesh!

  • Very good technique :D. I aspire to play this... you play it like a cello. Smooth and flawless.

  • Bass clef instruments make any song sound good.

  • Epic!

  • I'm 15 and I play double bass, I'm learning this song, it's really hard, specially on double bass, excellent work and great quality

  • Excellent job. I love your tone and quality of the recording. What did you use?

  • @vadervspredator I completely agree with you!! I am 14 and play bass! and im sure we all know its not the easiest instrument to play.. but people like him do give us something to work for and to set goals for ourselves!

  • great work!

  • Bravo!

  • Very captivating tone, great performance! I love the detail of this recording, every little nuance of the bow.

  • very clean for a bass. put those cello players to shame boy!!!

  • With all due respect Sr.Bach, but this suite sounds way better in the double bass

  • @serranopugliesi If you like this, and haven't already checked it out, Edgar Meyer did the whole Cello Suite on Double Bass. It is very beautiful.

  • Well done!

  • great tone and tempo on this composition. Much love from Dallas Texas USA!

  • @89arnburg im in dallas and play bass. i might know you. ell i live in flo mo but u know.

  • I don't understand why this does not have more views. cudos to you man.

  • @Davia23 The best is kept to the few right? Do you know the story where a famous violine player plays a piece by bach in the streets and about 90% of the people didn't recognize it, only few people listened to him... The next day he played the same masterpiece in New York in front of thousands of people or so...?

  • @FilmComposeRaHoppe I actually did not know that :) It's sort of funny how that works sometimes though. I saw a video a while back of this kid playing moonlight sonata at a party and he was simply playing his heart out and no one was paying him any mind at all...is was a little sad to see how little the people at the party thought of this child's talent...and he was indeed talented.

  • i play violin 4 5 years now and I'm the best class and i just got a sight reading transposition for violin and its not the easiest thing i hate slurs but congrats on the lyk 9 pos! I'm the only one in my school of 1300 kids who can do stuff lyk that on the violin apart from lyk 3 others

  • I am only 13 and play bass, people like you give me inspiration to play the hardest i can. Great work. :)

  • @vadervspredator same here. maybe ill see you in my lifteme bro. im 13. what ru working on, dragonneti?

  • @vadervspredator I am only 13 and play cello. He gave me the inspiration to preform this song in a school concert. Have been practicing this song everyday.

  • Wow! I've been playing Cello for four years now and that song is not very easy haha. I can not imagine how hard it must be on the bass! I've just started playing bass :D

  • I'm a 16 year-old aspiring professional bassist learning Bach's Prelude and Bach's Suite No. 3 for college auditions...and you're nailing this like it's nothing at all! Any advice for a high school bassist?

  • You are amazing! I'm lucky to have the pleasure of playing with you....you are not only a great bass player, but you're humble about it and just an all around good guy!

Glad you posted these, it keeps us cello players on our toes!

  • Wow! I've heard a lot of bassists play this and it seems like only big names can do it justice but You totally pulled it off! Gorgeous tone! You're an inspiration, thank You :)

  • This is My Dream Song To Play.. I Am 15 and my teachers are already trying to get me to play this song...Any advice???
