  • Heavens to William Claude Dunkenfield! What a delight & joy to finally get the chance to see this segment that was cut from this movie's original theatrical release! THANKS for posting it! You've MADE my day & my week! Hope ALL your wishes & dreams come true in the New Year! :-)

  • Wonderful!

Yes, this segment was legendary for many years, unseen, with only still pictures.

Rumors abounded that, although cut from the final film, it still existed. A few film buffs told me that a private collector had a rough copy, but no one ever had any hard information. When the complete camera dailies were found in the Fox vault in the 90s, it was like discovering the holy grail! Even at this--the very end of his career--Fields was still hilarious! A treasure.

  • "Unhand me, you body snatchers!" and then, later, "Thank you for nothing!" then, "I've been hoodwinked!"

I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a current comedien as I laugh at just about every damn word WC Fields ever uttered.

He died too early, or I was born too late. I painted a picture of him and gave it to a friend who still has it hanging on his office wall. Bill would be proud....

  • Phil Silvers as the salesman!!!!

  • This little gem was hidden for many years, as it was cut from the final film. The film itself was uneven. A coat was passed here and there, and some of Hollywood's best did short separate bits with it. This shows Fields at the end of his career, but still more than able to draw many laughs. His comedic skills were undiminished. Had the Fields routine stayed in the film, it would definitely have elevated it.

  • does rita hayworth appears in this film?

  • @kabukinami yes, as Ethel Halloway; one of the starring roles.

    It's an all-star cast...great film.

  • @kabukinami

Yes she does...in the segment that co-starred Thomas Mitchell and Charles Boyer.

  • 1942 and he calls his little side kick Schicklgruber! A bit of political farce on the side, excellent!

  • i lovee this movie..!!!

  • Two greats, Bill Fields and Phil Silvers!!

  • @DAVIDINTEL

I second that emotion! Both were comedic ICONS!!!

    :-)

  • Too Funny !!!
