  • What a wonderful video. Gloucestershire's & England's greatest composer in his home ground played by brilliantly talented kids.

  • I conducted this piece when I was a music student 22 years ago - as as a string player myself I always like to show what string orchestras can do :-) Shame about the bad acoustic on the recording but I can certify that when you are in front of the orchestra all those block chords and the bas line really get inside you - great fun. the syncopation later in the pice is almost guaranteed to throw you if you are not a top rate conductor (like I wasn't lol)

  • The Tallis melody isn't there -- these are three movements from the Concerto Grosso. This is what music is all about, and exactly the sort of gathering Vaughan Williams wrote the piece for -- the kiddies playing on open strings, the pros doing the serious stuff. And it sounds fantastic. The man was a genius!

  • I can't think of a more glorious way to be a young musician and play Vaughan-Williams.

May this be only the beginning of a deep and life-long journey. Thank you for sharing!
