I think you should use your own settings. Being into Torrents for 3 years, you have to forward your certain port on your router config, to allow al connections to connect to you on that port (Seeders) and also should set max connections to 5000 each.

I don't trust this. The first connections thingy where you change it to 433 could be a certain connection that could allow someone to download viruses onto your computer (like on of the previous comments said), and you are telling it to not use Windows Firewall, therefore allowing anyone to get viruses on your computer.

I know this is an old post, but whatever.

Torrents are based on sharing ratios. You download as fast as you upload, seeders just increase the speed.

If I have a torrent dl'ing with 3:10 ratio, I can still manage it because i have a .5mbps upload speed.

These settings tell utorrent to maximize upload speed, which, in turn, increases download speed.

This best works with torrents with a low seed - leech ratio.

Recommend that people write down their settings before changing them, so they can change them back if they need to. Because each ISP has different limits it is unlikely that these settings will work for everyone. Example my ISP limits my connections to 250, and half connections to 10. I need around 50 connections for firefox so that leaves 200 connections for utorrent.

While everything seemed to work well, in the preferences, none of the modifactions took effect unless I typed the new number and pressed "set" before moving to the next parameter....does that sound right?

If I just switched the number and hit ok, it would show the default number values when I went back to the preferences menu...now it shows the new number with an asterisk before the number...is that to show that it has been modified?
