The only thing I ask of this aria is that the singer takes the words seriously. Callas and Ponselle are the only one's i've heard who really take this lament for what it is
the best rendition of this aria. only maria could sing this way, only her. the anguish brings tears to my eyes. i hope she has earned her place among the angels in heavens for the feelings she creates singing with such passion. Blessed be her soul. :)
Even with the little wobble at the end, and even though it's insanely slow, NO ONE can tell me this woman wasn't the premiere artist of her generation. Viva La Divina!
How can one listen to this and not be touched? It's undoubtedly sublime. The best version of the aria that I've heard so far. The more I listen to Maria Callas, the more I realize that this, and only this, was the purpose of her existence, no other singer has been this successful in conveying the character's emotions through musical notes. Brava!!!
Maria was in so many ways such a fragile, tragically vulnerable woman. That vulnerability comes through so realistically in this magnificent performance of a truly tragic aria. So beautiful!
Ascoltate la Olivero in quest'aria e meditate.

Non è un aria a lei confacente, sul finale la voce è molto oscillante eppure è registrata nel suo periodo migliore. Il tempo è troppo lento

I hear many sopranos today to try to have the emotion that I have to listen to Callas. But I can not find. Never will be.

Those 5 dislike votes are whack. Why listen to opera if you cannot hear?

If you want to know the meaning of a song in a foreign language, ask Maria Callas to sing it to you.

heart wrenching... the last lines kill me, ... as she's crying out to her dead baby.
" parla mi, parla mi.... amore!"
"...speak to me, ...speak to me.. my love"
