orcas absolutely do not belong in tanks. in the wild, the life span for an orca is between 50-70 years! in captivity, 232 orcas have died since 1961 - and only 6% lived to be more than 20 years old! the largest orca tank in the world, in marineland france, is still very small for a whale to live in - it's only 0.005 of a mile... in the wild,orcas swim 100 miles a day with their families. in captivity, they are kept in swimming pools, sometimes separated from their family.
