  • Underoath!

  • alas!, you have something to protect your virginity!!

  • The pattern you are using is called "4 in 1" this is because each ring is looped through 4 other rings, which is the traditional method to make chain maille.

  • Why all the hate? This is some good stuff... =)

  • Stropping your knife gently over your arm seems like a good method to test if it is well enough for a mideval battle application.

  • Good work on the patch you made, and funny little show you put on, I hope you feel it up :)

  • Stab that sum bitch in there

  • what are the materials please im not good with hearing

  • ...unfitting music... for most of the video...

  • Food for thought:

    1. Chainmail was actually not called chainmail in olden days. It was called just Mail.

    2. Contrary to popular belief, the mail worn by knights in the mid 1200s was nearly immune to stabbing and piercing attacks. This was because riveted mail became the Armour of choice instead of butted mail.

    3. Often times mail armour actually costed more than early period and even late period plate armour as it was more time consuming to make.

  • @1169Timothy

I was just about to post about riveting. The rings absolutely have to be welded or riveted or they will separate under stress.I wouldn't bet my life in aluminum armor either.. It looks good and is much easier to work with, but it's soft and weak.

  • @oddbarrows agreed

  • @oddbarrows I know you only made it for show, or at least to test your skill at making mail. Imagine how hard it must be to make a steel version of that? You would have to heat and shape each ring and then rivet it. Also you would have to keep in mind that you are making a shirt and not just a square of mail.

  • nice job, did you end up, i've been working on one off and on. I've made the back and the collar and it already weighs up 20 pounds. I use 14 gauge on mine

  • guys why u hatin? it looks like he has a cool hobby of his own. whats yours? sittting in front of your computer all day and hating on videos that people used their time and effort on? losers.

  • Try smash warhammer against hand :) Wont help :(

  • can i use my katana on your chainmail when you hold it

  • That is not very dense. I have stainless steel diving gloves that are "chainmail", and look way sturdier than that...I guess being for sharks they are supposed to be.

  • Wow. Awesome :)

  • gay face!

  • This is actually ring mail, similar build, uses rings instead of chain links, good defense against slashing.

  • hahaha man what is it with everybody on youtube using 16 and 18 gauge steel? seriously grow up and use some stuff that is thick. i mean... i made an entire shirt from 14 gauge steel with rings that are at least half your size. lol.....

  • Looks like the chain links holding up my bird's cage...

  • HEY!!!!!!! I have seen all the work that goes into making chain mail!!! It is NOT easy!!! I am VERY proud of Ryan for making it! So shut up if you have a problem with it, because you are just jealous that you can't do it!!!!!

  • Saying 'chain-mail' together is like saying. 'white-snow'. we all know snow is white. Just say 'chain' or say 'mail'.

  • R.I.P headphone users @ 1:35

  • mail is good unless you get stabbed thats when you want plate

  • By the way, this is the same i.d. of chainmaile used by Isildur in Fellowship and the weave that Gimli tries on in two towers.

  • @TheSniperscopes well, good for you.

  • The guy linked a bunch of key chains together....

  • @kimvlaar 16 gauge galvanized steel wire wrapped around a 1/2 inch rod.

  • @Twinkies4myfamily do you still use that thin of a wire on 1/2 inch rings or have you made the rings smaller?

  • @foiafrey Are you suggesting I stab myself?

  • @TheReven1 THANK YOU SIR!

  • your pattern is not tight enough

  • where the hell do you even get scale's for scale mail

  • Is that aluminum?

  • @RainenAvernathy It's Galvanized Steel.

  • Why so many dislikes? This is awesome :D

  • @VVProductionsChannel Thank you! Gracias! Arigatou!

  • Your rings are huge man 0_0

  • sarà pure anti lama, ma se ci sparno sopra voglio vedere .

  • @evosharky Si puó dire che in inglese, por favore? Non parlo Italiano.

  • @TheReven1

I said it can't cut. CUT.

Stabbing is totally diffrent, you dont need a katana to stab through armour.

    Merry christmas.

  • If you are not giong to hack at your arm with a sword then why bother? You just tickled yourself on camera.

  • I feel like if your going to talk about and spread information on this subject you should spread it all. Chain mail was not just used in medieval time but as early as a couple hundred years BCE. Spread full facts please.

  • @TheReven1

Katanas can't cut through steel no matter what you wapanese fanboys say.

  • @Flash91s You are right about this, but like any sword of that period the katana did have a tip that could pierce steel if you stabbed with the weapon. This was not an attack they liked to employ and not one practiced as they avoided it, but it was an effective option against steel.

  • @TheReven1

Any sword with a ponted tip can stab through thin armour, no sword can cut through.

If you want to kill someone with armour then use a warhammer or something similar, if you want to kill an unarmored defenseless peasant then use a katana.

  • When the video started i thought you looked like a dick head but ive changed my mind i now think you a faggot

  • @TheMeperson1 THANK YOU SIR!

  • Thrust.. defeats this.

  • dude, i made a copper chain mail vest and its sweet... weighs a lot though.... pretty epic as you said

  • RIP headphone users.

  • @markdangerman my 16 yr old brother shaves but barely

  • you have too big rings

  • try a katana and you lose your arm :)

  • @tuipale

    Katanas are useless vs armour.

  • @Flash91s Actually, if you order a real katana you dont just buy a katana. There are so many aspects to it. One of these aspects is the blade, especially if it will be for cutting. The blade comes in many ways but for simplicity... If you plan on cutting light object such as bottles and unarmored flesh you order a thin razor sharp blade, straw mats or light armored is medium both ways and bamboo or heavily armored is a thick blade with less sharpness. Please get your facts before speaking :)

  • you need a shave? Could have fooled me......Doesnt look like you have ever needed a shave....

  • @CLAPPY2120 Yeah I seriously hope he was joking when he said he needed a shave lol

  • I must say, i love your background song LOL =D

  • make me a chain mail full body armor and ill pay 100$

  • @Stephen0274 It's worth more than that. It takes a while to make!

  • @Stephen0274 yeah it can take exceeds of a month to make a hauberk of chainmail,

and the rings he is using are larger than normal rings, and he is also making 4 in 1 a better choice is 1 in 6 or even 1 in 16 it takes longer but looks better and is much more protective, but you would be looking at 500$ to pay for a hauberk of chainmail that ring size and as for the stabbing part you mentioned that is also because of the 1 in 4 pattern a pattern such as 1 in 32 also know as dragon scale is better.

  • @SynoDesign Wow. Thank... you. I didn't know that. For real.

  • @Stephen0274 A full body chainmail is 500$-800$

  • @Stephen0274 100? you're crazy

  • Not bad. Evidently effective against drawcuts and slashes, don't let them bug you about machetes. Maybe a machete would get through, maybe not. Your bigger problem would be that even if the machete cut were stoppped, the percussion might break a bone. So, some form of padding under the bone.

Warning: the openings are too large to be counted on to stop a stab.

  • What a emo lol

  • I like it! Nice job!

  • i prefer dragon scale chainmail over 4 in 1 chainmail

  • @zoiackiller lol. I know, but 4 in 1 is much quicker to make!

  • @Twinkies4myfamily @Twinkies4myfamily Isn't that the point tho. I mean, you ARE doing this as hobby right? its not like it takes that much more setup to produce the 'better' of the two outcomes.

I don't understand what hobby means to you but, If you hobby to pass time, then why not just do it regardless. If you want to pump out a low substandard @ high quantities, that leads one to question... is what you're doing still a hobby? Or just junking out a lot of boring crap.

  • That's a pretty light piece of maille, as far as the European ones go.

They usually had much more rings per section, and the rings were a lot smaller.

Based on the tests done by the Royal Armories, the high-quality maille was so dense you couldn't thread a needle through the rings, let alone a finger...

  • Cavalry. That is what the mounted military unit is called. Not Calvary. Calvary is where Jesus was crucified.

  • @TechnoIndigo sorry. My Great Grandad had the name Lord, so I get kinda confused -_-

  • Use a machette... -_-

  • you did a really nice job on that, im working on one, its smaller rings but yours seem evry effictive =] nice job

    and nice sword

  • @ElPolloLocoPS It's a standard issue Calvary knife from around the 1880's. My great grandfather used that knife in battle. You don't want that thing anywhere near you. If you want, I'll get this bayonet and give you another demonstration on my armor. But, please, keep it to yourself, troll.

  • i have a chainmail to but my rings are more smaller :P

  • I actually can't see at all that you need a shave :P

  • @Conorhorgan1 Why do you say that?

  • 1/2 in in this video. Recently started making 1/4 inch. i could make a vid of that, if you all want to see it.

  • @Twinkies4myfamily you know thats actualy why you could fel the ppint the smaller the ring size the least likely you can get the point through

  • What internal diameter are your rings?

  • Cool chainmail! You look like a very young Russell Crowe!

  • I think chain mail is cool!

  • Looks nice, I was wondering why the rings where so large until you said you were making a pouch. If it was armour you would need smaller rings or use the 6 in 1 pattern. Either way nice work

  • YESSS!!!!
