They say that the truest measure of a hero is not in the greatness of his or her actions, but in the greatness his actions inspire in others. for inspiring me to pursue a creative life, this man will always be my hero.
RIP Gary Gygax.........you found a way to give millions of middle-class kids in the suburbs (like me) endless hours of entertainment without having to spend mucho bucks like today's spoiled brats do on video games & iPhone apps.........D&D was the most brilliant game of all because it leveraged the greatest (and FREE) toy of all --- OUR CHILDHOOD IMAGINATION !!!!
Hey, I love WoW, but, I loved D&D first. PC's were expensive and hard to get when I was a kid, but we all had the Player's handbook, a pencil, paper, dice, and, most importantly, imagination! Thank you so much, Gary and Dave, you'll be sorely missed.
Amen to that. I just completed my Masters thesis Titled "Character Development of Dungeons and Dragons and Episodic Television". Without Gygax, this thesis would never had exsited. Thank you Mr. Gary Gygax!
If you think for a second that WoW would have been developed with the precursors set before, you are delusional. What Gary created paved the way for many things, WoW included.
...I'm aware what Gary Gygax did...He's the reason that all video games are around today...But you didn't include all video games...Just WoW, it was odd how you did that considering he had nothing to do with it.
Showed the cover of Dragon #100 twice, but definitely a nice selection of images tracing Gary's influence on the gaming industry and on each and every one of us.
Thanks for the post. Gary Gygax has a place in the hall of fame of Roleplayers. I found a tribute Site for devolopers and gamers alike. GygaxGamers C0M , sign up and show your support. Thanks Gary, your legend will live on.

The empty chair at 5:25 is very poignant, thank you. Though the DM screen is in the wrong place :-)

No Gary Gygax, no World of Warcraft. Gygax is to gaming as Tolkien is to fantasy worlds as Howard is to sword and sorcery.
