@8EastTripFin8 I actually meant what happened to the quality of music they produced. Their later stuff (i.e. Day and Age) is very bland and generally unappealing. In an effort to increase their popularity I think they strayed too far from what made them great in the first place, and the new style doesn't suit them. I also thought Flower's solo album was a huge dissapointment. Hopefully they will return to form with the next album.

@10Equium I agree. Hot Fuss and Sam's Town In my opinion were outstanding albums. However Sawdust was somewhat of a decline and Day & Age I havent bothered to listen to yet. Maybe they just burned out, as much as it sucks to say that.

@8EastTripFin8 Sawdust was a B-side compilation and so was always likely to have, in many peoples minds, weaker material than the two previous studio albums. Personally I quite enjoyed it. Some of the songs were actually superior than the tracks included in the albums from which they were 'cut'. Show You How and Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf in particular spring to mind.

In fairness you didn't miss much on Day and Age! It's far too poppy, a direction that Flowers seems to have guided them in.
