I don't typically agree with Bill, but where is he wrong on this point? American Eagle is a business, transgendered people should dress professionally. However, the general public is not ready for something like that and as a result AE needs to adhere to the majority of its customers that would be uncomfortable with the thought of something really out of the "norm".

It's not discrimination if it it the way the rules are there, don't like it go work somewhere else. Can they shop there if they want? Everyone agreed that the policy was poorly written and American Eagle re-wrote it. But not at work.
Best Buy makes people wear blue shirts. Disney has uniforms or costumes. Many stores disallow facial piercings or crazy makeup, and other distracting appearances that repel customers.
It is vital to the store that their customers feel comfortable in the store and that employees do not make them want to leave. So AT WORK, the store sets the rules.

I don't typically agree with Bill, but where is he wrong on this point? American Eagle is a business, transgendered people should dress professionally. However, the general public is not ready for something like that and as a result AE needs to adhere to the majority of its customers that would be uncomfortable with the thought of something really out of the "norm".

@finnsia there are lots of different category, for example there are some trans people that identify as trannies and being trans is part of there identity, yet still there are gender queer people that like to be a bit of both genders. I think people should be able to dress however they want, even if I think it's stupid. The scientific side of me says there is no clear "consensus on reality." The male side of me wants to feel free to chuckle at a dude in a dress, so who knows where I stand.... I sure as hell don't. "it's weird" is a valid point of view, as in it is contrary to the norm. I think if people should be free to dress how they want, I should be free to feel uncomfortable around transgenders.

As long as they don't come in rags and wear clothing appropriate for that job it should be okay. The only reason we are not okay with is because the society hasn't been exposed to them. @finnsia You know, the macho-ism that is indoctrinated into the human psyche by popular culture. The side self that feels threatened by gay/transgenders people because it speaks to possibility that sexuality, is not about clear lines of straight/gay, but a vast spectrum in between the extremes of both. The prejudice here is a little silly, but so is the lack of desire to understand why people have it.

@Xakryn You really started to sound intelligent until you said that. Seriously?! Chuckle? By saying that, you therefore think that males chuckle at anything not like them. WTF?! Contrary to the norm!? What are you talking about?! There is no norm on this issue. The only norm is the dress code and old rules about it. You should feel free to be what?! Xakryn, I really like what you wrote. You sounded intelligent, then silly, then stupid and now a fucking bigot or "douche".

I've been Transgendered since I was 3 years old and I'm sure you've heard of more kids like this, so unless your Transgendered then shut up about things you do not understand.
