  • it be even more cooler and effective if one uses two tonfas if it is possible

  • eu tenho uma tomfa de metal !!!

  • if you guys think the normal baton is cool, check out the sidewinder baton

  • Nice locking and controlling techniques !!

  • bad techines....

  • @vbalanar real life fighting never looks as crisp and technical as pre-arranged martial arts fighting vids you see on videos. I agree though, that some of the bits here could have been done much better. . .but don't think tonfa work great irl just because they look cool on vids. They don't.

  • @SinJackal tonfas can work well irl, it just depends whether or not you take the time to learn them (just like any weapon). they are very offensive though, so they arent as safe as a sword for example, which gives you some range so you can be out of their range but inside yours. Tonfas make you get into striking range to attack. However, if your going tonfas vs striking range, like you see in most of these clips, theyre very effective. even if someone uses a bat, tonfas are still effective

  • Super

  • the pr24 is far more effective than anny conventional aton on this evidence, very effective locks!

  • I've heard that the side-handle reduces the overall striking power of a baton. Is this true? Also, do the defensive tactics on the DVD take into account deployment of an expandable baton with side handle?

  • @AaronNReece If you're holding it by the handle, then yes, because you aren't getting as much leverage as you would if you held a weapon at it's bottom. Same as when you choke up on a bat, you don't hit a baseball as far as if you didn't. expandable batons are far more damaging because of the weighted end. Expandable batons are banned for use by police in many cities, but there are no state bans on them.

  • good video

  • those are awesome

  • are tonfa legal in the uk? please reply if you know!!

  • no its not.

  • @te1ge no there not mate, theyre a made ofensive weapon and so illegal.

  • 0:24 promotes carjacking

  • spinning the tonfa handle is cooler lol

  • those guys are almost as good as Sun Ce with the Tonfas

  • wouldn't want to be the test subjects of that!!

  • @scramjet97 I would ;-). It is a good way to learn the techniques including the effect on the body. You will know exactly what is your future oponent going to feel.

  • Cool moves. Like the music too.

  • Very interesting, just want to buy this stick and I hope that this movie will help me

  • Couple of the defenses in this video are a problem. The last one, with the parrying of the knife....whaaaaat? You disengage and shoot the suspect. I would have to have a serious talk with any cop that did some crap, or even talked like he would, like that with a suspect. As a drill? O.K. But, as part of the drill, it should include disengaging at the earliest, drawing and shooting the suspect with the knife. Same for that pipe.

  • He lost his gun... ;(

  • That's right. I personally feel it'd be better if geared toward civilians. Of course, you have to learn how to conceal something like that first. Which might not be something that should be widely taught. lol

  • Again that's like critisising a soldier for practising with his pistol, whe nI rifle would of done better.

This training has to be done, for the situations in which a gun is not feasable, or unavailable.

Of course you would disengage and fire, but that may not always be an option.

  • good tecniques pr 24 great video i am my training

  • erg, tonfa and police baton? first off, police rarely use tonfas anymore, partly because they are not practical for that use.

    second, its redundant.

  • Damn Imagine if we had tonfas like hibari's from KHR

  • That'd be sick!

  • i noticed many hapkido moves in this

  • Tonfa is the best melee weapon in my opinion it just does everything! (Except Stab)

  • @felixdavidjones it can stab if u put a knife on the end :P just dont cut urself lol

  • @felixdavidjones Well you could spin it around with handle, have long end sticking out, and just punch :D

  • @felixdavidjones katana is the best

  • @shadownoob83 Maybe more versatile, but it's hard to imagine a police officer carrying a sword rather than a nightstick... maybe we should petition our local sheriff's offices.

  • @felixdavidjones you could make it stab

  • @felixdavidjones Actually, they make tonfa with blades on the short ends.

  • its a fine choice, but not much defence against something with a long reach like a baseball bat

  • Amazing.

In real life this is much harder.

Tonfa's are my number one choice of weapon.

  • Mine too! Sad I can't find any automatic baton with sheath, want one so BADLY!!

  • gotta love the old T-batons :)

  • Well, now I certainly know what to do when I'm holding a tonfa and some psycho charges me with a katana. :D

  • beautiful

  • tonfa & escrima ... very powerfull!!

  • you are not dumb... you have all the reason.

  • i dont wanna sound dumb but in the beginning who's gonna punch u if u have a tonfa?

  • not to sound too smart... but maybe the answer your looking for is stupid people?

    maybe someone high on drugs?

    drunk people...

  • that wasnt very good you dont block with a tonfa like 2 seconds before they swing you block at the last second

  • they make it look so easy dont they!

  • tonfa sucks, u cant apply wrist techniques with that bullshit. baton are more useful.

  • is there such thing as a tonfa with a blade? just wonderin.

  • yes the wan-k4921 is equipped with a flamethrower, 2 combat knives and 982 boxing gloves

  • PMSL . yes and mine is a semi auto assault rifle

  • i think so

besides tonfas and batons are different cuz tonfas are usually used in pairs where as a baton is used alone

  • some have blades on the end, and some even have, instead of a wooden shaft, is just a sword blade, but those are rare.

  • I don't think so; it would probably cut your arm.

  • these L shaped batons are old school!

  • called tonfas

  • thats preety cool

but shit man, it cant stop a bullet and thats wut people uses these days

  • It works well against unarmed suspects, but armed ones are handled differently, of course.

  • yea

    i know

i was just messin around when i said that

    lol

  • Cool.THat is a hard weapon to counter.

  • nc to meet u

  • nice

  • sweet where/how do i learn

  • Ziemlicher Schrott, sorry!

Techniken gegen passive, festgelegte oder inkonsequente "Angreifer"... most of this won´t work that way!

  • 0:27 - 0:32 pure art

  • i wonder if police in countries like britain,australia,japan...that dont have guns like we do here in the states use their sticks more often>>?

  • pigs in aust always carry guns dude. its just japan and britain that dont like guns

  • The police carry guns but the evil government makes it difficult for the citizenry to have guns to defend themselves.

  • Daky: That's a mixture of police expediency, poor training, and the fact that the only time you ever see tonfa used by cops are when they are in the news misusing them (and those tend to be, yet again, badly trained officers.)

  • pretty sure the only way ive ever seen an officer use one of those is like a bat or club.... and the other dude never had a weapon that i saw. if the adversary has a weapon its just typical that the cop will shoot or tazer his ass.

  • umm... tonfas or the police baton was created with long-range weapons in mind. Bats swung overhead or to the sides are meant to be deflected the way he did. They are positioned over the forearm so it absorbs the blow. A second would be used to crunch his sternum. Karate students train using the staff against the tonfa.

  • That would be really useful to learn. it's like having a whatever those things are made out of forearm.

  • Very very nicely done! Great stuff that every officer should really train how to do! I am imopressed with the demonstration speed and control with out injuries!

  • ...or just pepper spray the hell out of the person's face.

  • 'no way would you use a baton against a baseball bat'

    - True. Though you can move forwards before the person swings and strike the hand/wrist/arm that's holding the bat. The chokes and locks used were also quite cool.

  • no its best if u understand urself and the human body so that when ur in a situation instead of remembering a certain counter u learned for it learn to know wut to do without thinking just do it and thats also how u can counter counters and so on takes time for some takes minutes for others

  • um...and deflecting a kick with the end opposite your hand? this isn't useful in real life scenarios, which is why you don't commonly see police use them. night sticks and batons are only good for swinging, which is why only riot police use them.

  • no way would you use a baton against a baseball bat. you'd have to be crazy

  • or skilled

  • Hmm. interesting, but the crappy youtube resolution makes it hard to see whats going on.

  • Nice and useful

  • that's awesome!
