  • S-T-O-P!!! All the Marilyn Davenport Bashers out there, There's more than one Marilyn Davenport on the Planet. Please REFERENCE with OC GOP. Details DO matter.

I 'm a registered Independent in another part of the country! The verbal abuse I've incorrectly received, may sway my vote! LOL!

Should I start up some lawsuits for defamation of character, liable, slander, damage to my business??? Just put yourself in my shoes and at least add GOP, ORANGE COUNTY PLEASE - Thank you.

  • You have the right to call anybody a chimpanzee, it is protected in free speech, but also the free speech gives people right to protest against your remark or to criticize your outburst,

Your right to free speech has not been taken away from you.

  • The stimulus bill was started by President Bush, and not Obama. So, Obama is really just "aping" Bush's plan. Oops! Did I say "aping?" Oh gosh! I am so sorry! Now do you get it? I doubt it.

  • "When fascism comes to america, it will come in the guise of anti-fascism."

    So true.

  • Thanks for the insight. Excellent vlog.

  • Is there a right to print it? Yes. But there is an even greater right to be offended by it and therefore take action against those who published it, and those who defend its views. Free speech works both ways, if you want to publish "Der Sturmer" the public gas a right to try and put you out of business. Another big zero on this one.

  • If a President is writing legislation, he is clearly overstepping his bounds. Seventh grade civics teaches us that Congress writes the laws, the Judiciary interprets those laws and the President executes those laws. Obama didn' t WRITE the bill. The way that the congress put us on the hook for Trillions(!) of dollars in spending was not unlike the rampaging pet chimpanzee shot by police in CT a few weeks back. Is it too hard to believe that the artist was simply relating the two incidents?

If this so called skilled commentary political cartoonist is so out of touch that he didn't know the common cultural sub-text that most people, and especially the minority community that was most affected by the stereotype would, and did assign to this cartoon than he is a fool and doesn't deserve his job.

  • I was taken aback by the reaction to the cartoon, but I do believe now that the cartoonist and the Post's editorial staff underestimated the ignorance of the general public and the willingness of certain liberal personalities and the left-leaning mainstream media to demagogue it as racist propaganda. I now see that there are many who stand to gain by reading racist subtext into anything they can and leading the charge against those who supposedly "communicated" the "racist" message.

  • When Jesse Jackson called New York "Heimeytown", did he deserve to lose his job as leader of the Rainbow Coalition? Obviously, he should have known the word "Heimey" would be an offensive slur toward Jews. Just applying the same standard...

  • Actually I agree, I do think he should have stepped down. He did end up paying a price for quite awhile though, and even still today, as it is never forgotten and it hurts the organization.

None of the actual technicalities, which I am well aware of, and as should everyone be: none of that has unfortunately prevented the media from generally associating the stimulus package with Obama. I agree from your perspective that, that is a misstatement, but it is still clearly more of a stretch to see the chimp as Congress.

    Peace

  • While I can't agree with your last statement, at least you make it from an informed position. Most people seem to be ignorant of the President's and Congress's respective roles in this matter and that is sad, not to mention scary. Peace back at you.

  • I can't say I agree with your last statement, but at least you make it from an informed position. It's sad to think so many actually believe the President writes legislation and that the monkey was an overt representation of Obama. Not only is it sad, it's scary.

  • One of the best pieces of commentary I've seen on any subject in a long time. EXCELLENT WORK!

  • @PHenry500 me too if you like his commentary you'll like my videos :)
