Paul Stanley is the real "musical" leader of the band IMO. It's quite obvious when you listen at both of his solo efforts too. Gene was doing the crazy bad ass things on stage and is an amazing charismatic bass artist and has the strongest personnality and a lot of talent, but I think Stanley is the heart and soul of the band when it comes to music and melodies.
@evulekin Huh never knew that about Ace...Well you do know that Paul Stanley is also a Jew isn't he...So that's beyond me both him and Gene allowed this shit...
Paul Stanley had the greatest voice ever, I don't care what anyone says. Listen to "I Still Love You", "Nowhere to Run", "A Million to One". He's amazing.
I believe the 4 original songs had to be written in certain time constraints due to the record company (Polygram?) wanting to put out this type of a package in a short period of time because "The Elder" was such a huge disaster. They wanted the fans to know that Kiss was still a hard rock band & was going to return to that type of music. P&G also had trouble coming up w/new songs so Bryan Adams, etc...were called in to help them out. I think Adams plays the main guitar track on "DOYK" too.
@Sirscorps i knew Brian co wrote Rock and Roll Hell with Gene for Creatures and maybe one more, but i had no idea he was involved with Killers at all.got any more info?
@dimebagdave77 "rock n' roll Hell" is basically a reworking of a "BTO" song. Gene added a version, ect.......I didn't realise that Adams co-wrote it too. I'm thinking the way they did "rock n' roll Hell" was similar to how they later on changed "God Gave.....".
This album cover looks great. They should've kept this look and this style of music for this time period, they would've been just fine. The elder(even though I like it) just about did the band in. I Like every decade of the bands music from 73" to sonic boom. But side 4 of alive 2 and the four songs on Killers is the direction musically they should've stayed. Thats why Ace just had enough and quit when he heard the elder".Some reports said he threw the cd at the wall at the listening meeting
Good song but it's not Kiss, it's only Paul and session musicians Bob Kulick (Bruce's brother) and Anton Fig...so I'd say it's a Paul solo album. Gene's involvement was minimal or non existant
@geomusicmove Eric Carr recorded all new songs on Killers. Not Anton Fig. Gene was actually involved more than you might think, but I need to refresh my memory on that issue. You are correct about Bob Kulick.
its amazing, i've been playing bass for about 5 years. and i remember learning how to play all of these songs. all i have to say despite his crude cockiness, gene is an amazing bass/guitar player. His bass playing set the standard for all rock bassists. Hearing Love Gun's bassline drive the band with Peter Criss's drumpower. These are the Super heroes of rock n roll.
You say 50Cent-I Say Led Zeppelin You say Miley Cyrus-I say AC/DC You say T-Pain-I say Guns N Roses You say Flowers-I say Van Halen You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B-I scream Classic Rock You say hanah montana-i hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap.If you are part of the 30% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF CLASSIC ROCK KISS ROCKS!
I'm pretty sure that these Killers tunes were played by Vinnie and were his first recordings with KISS...that's what I remember the Kisstory book saying, I'll have to recheck sometime but I'm 99.9% positive.
@CraiggyOats YOU are soooo right!! Gene shoul be thankfull that Paul never quit Kiss!!! He's the backbone of Kiss, he wrote most of the classic Kiss songs... Ace was a one of a kind too, but Paul was KISS
@hgmcalifas i agree 100%,Paul always gave his all to Kiss and was never distracted by Hollywood or anything else,Paul was there through thick and thin and i love him for it,that's why he's the main man in Kiss to me.
@dimebagdave77 And the solo albums says it all, I think Peter at least was honest, he was into soul and R&B, considering the shit he was going through in 78(morphine, cocaine, pills, alcohol, weed not to mention the emotional fuck up antics) Peter's solo album is not bad, I like Gene's but sometimes I wonder_who r u to judge Peter's music influences while u were into dating hollywood hotties and more concerned on how many celebrities you colud get into the recording of your album?
@hgmcalifas exactly man, there's been a lot of mud slinging by Gene over the years that i thought was taking it too far,i have a deep respect for all the classic Kiss members and over the years i've grown to accept Gene for who he is.Ace's solo certainly rocked the hardest, but i heard Paul's first and i like it just as much.PEACE.
@dimebagdave77 I also felt the same way that Paul was the true leader of KISS, not Gene, even though they co-founded the band along with Ace and Peter. Paul is, was, and will always be the heart and soul of KISS. Without him, there is no KISS. After all, he was the one who came up with the name.
If anyone is looking for the four tracks from Killers, they were all released on the CD single of 'Forever' in 1990. Look for it on Ebay. I lucked into finding it back then, myself.
I remember first hearing this on KISS Killers (got the Dutch import on cassette in 1988) and loved this track immediately. This and Nowhere to Run (full version) were finally released in the US on KISS Gold 1974-1982 2-CD retrospective in January of 2005 (which I got on my 29th birthday in January, 2005 and was impressed at how much better the remaster sounded compared to the flat CD version of Killers issued in Europe). Only Down On Your Knees and Partners In Crime remain unreleased in the US.
thats damn cool. break it down for us, what year, album or cassette..... i can remember listening to creatures with bruce on the cover for the first time officially. reason why i play drums is cuz of that album. check out my vid, playing a little carr jam 81
Back when i was 12 in 2004 and was getting in rock music, this was the first album i ever bought by them and i fucking love it lol. Creatures is my fave album by kiss lol, but i aint got that version you have, that one is hard to find now lol, and sure i'll check out your vid :)
Perhaps the only saving grace this osng has is one of its riffs (the riff in the verses) was ressurected and worked into the arrangement for live renditions of Lick It Up.
Sorry guys, this is the weakest of the new songs on Killers. Nowhere To Run beats em all, then Partners In Crime. Down On Your Knees is kinda laughable but has a good drum track and this song is just a throwaway, filler they wouldn't even put on their worst album.
You're full of shit, this song has an extremely catchy guitar riff. It's groovy from start to finish,Go give your opinion of "Deuce" on a "Deuce" video or somethin cause here no one gives a shit.
No, I won't. I've been a KISS fan longer than you've been alive, and this song is pure drivel. You can drop this right now, just remember, if you don't, you brought it all upon yourself.
And another thing...what kind of true KISS fan has "KIϟϟ stands for "Knights. In. Satans. Service." on his homepage? We've fought for far too long to discredit that bullshit for some fucking punk-ass kid to come along and perpetuate such a rumor under the guise of being a "fan." Screw you.
I know that it doesn't stand for that, it's called having fun. All I'm trying to say is that this song is actually pretty good, also you sound like a real loser "you brought this all on yourself" LOL it's the internet loser. You've been a KISS fan since before I've been alive? So the fuck what, I have every KISS album that there is, I have every Ace Frehley album and every Peter Criss album I know what songs are good or not.
Fair enough, dude. You caught me in a bad mood. But to me, the only redeeming quality in this song is the riff in the verses is now incorporated into live renditions of "Lick It Up". The lyrics suck, the perfomance is atrocious, and Bob Kulick's guitar solo sounds castrated compared to the other "new" tunes on Killers. This was a real throw away. Not even good enough to be filler on a proper KISS album. But not surprisingly better than Let's Put The X in Sex and Rock Hard.
And you really should remove the Satanic reference to KISS on your homepage. It's not very funny. Has anyone ever accused you of being a "devil worshiper" because of that very bullshit? If not, you don't know why it's offensive, but you should now based on this dialogue. If someone has called you a Satanist or made some other snide comment of the sort, you do understand, and will hopefully remove it for the rest of the KISS Army to stop perpetuating that garbage.
alright alright we shall agree to disagree here. I just throw away the lyrics and listen to the song the groovy guitar riffs and the nice flow, it makes ya wanna tap them feet which is what rock 'n' roll is all about.
This is deffinately (spelling?) better than "Unmasked", which was released one year prior to this. What's funny, is that KISS' "Killers" was released a year after Iron Maiden's 2nd album "Killers". That's pretty cool.
Yeah, I know about the Elder. It's a good album, but it's the wrong band. Maybe if The Who or somebody more musically diverse should have put out The Elder, but not a rip-roarin' Metal Band.
joder lo que no entiendo es por que la cancion con lo q me gusta solo esta en un disco editado unicamente en japon, y si te bajas la discografia no te viene en ella

yeah really, "down on your knees" is a TOTAL balls-out rocker that kicks you in the teeth from the first note. I wish that was on youtube somewhere.

Oh yeah, when you heard that one, you knew immediately how fucking great Eric Carr was.
It's total shame what happened to him.

The guitar reminds me of U2's "I Will Follow." Kinda new wave.
