@dicksenya Im a Dave A fan, but I agree with you. I take Jack over Matt Cameron anyday. Matts fills are so long they stand out on the live stuff something horrible. Listen to this version, not as good as Dave A in my opinion, but its tight and fits !
jack was a good drummer.....to a point. Lets face it, if matt played on the same records that jack played on, the grooves on the songs wouldve been better than jacks. Not to discredit jack irons by any means, but I think he was really only the best at playing the songs that he didnt play on, because he had something to follow. Matt has a mind of his own. Listen to how matt plays the songs off Yield off the Live On Two Legs album, and try to say that jack irons drumming stood a chance.
It's funny regarding early Pearl Jam, these guys were explosive and I lived and breathed their music around the 92-94 stage. Particularly Dave A, power, precision and showmanship all wrapped together.
Jack has no power, no passion, no personality in his playing. He is certainly accomplished but to transition to him from Dave A was unforgivable.
I like Jack. At first, I must say I was not a fan, but I really enjoy his quick hits and his style. His sound really fits some of PJs songs. Now, I prefer Matt, but in general, I like Jack. He is not good for every song though.
