people like illusions, like the past being a cleaner, more pure and gentler time...well,they like the illusion films gave them, but of course it wasn't really like that, people swore , cursed, were violent and a lot more racist than today...like it or not, the best of times is now
I'm usually not a fan of swearing, but I don't actually mind when they do it for some reason ;) maybe because it's cool to see their walls come down as human, or because they never actually swore in the movies ( which is more than todays actors can say for themselves), or maybe just because it's Old Hollywood and I love them :)

a llittle hateful arent they ,and they sure like to take the lords name in vain alot just like hollywood today full of no good people .if hollywood fell of the face of the earth we would be alot better off .
Interesting to compare these old flubs to more modern bloopers -- seems that they used to be a lot harder on themselves. Only occasionally did they laugh about it -- whereas modern screw-ups are usually handled more light-heartedly, it seems.
I wish back in the old movies of this era, they could say anything they wanted. It wasn't until the late 60's early 70's that more and more foul language was said in pictures.

Mayo Methot (Mrs. Humphrey Bogart #3) appears at 2:10 forgetting her lines after "jumping the traces" and she also appears at 4:23 under Ward Bond on the couch, telling him "Jesus, get off of me!" These scenes are from Numbered Woman (1938) made a Monogram Pictures, near the end of Methot's career on screen.
This is awesome. I am 42 so obviously born after these movies made but I watched a lot of these as a kid. To see them as "real people" makes things so different for me. I always thought the actors of th e 30's thru the 50's were so much different from us, so much more serious but you see that as people, we are so much the same. Just different times.
I didn't know that classic Hollywood actors & actressesof the 30's/40's said bard words! Or messed up their lines. They always came off as perfect in the movies. I didn't think they could swear! I was stupid enough to believe swearing became popular & mainstream from the 1970's and up to today LOL
@AmericanEvita If you knew anything about literature you would know that profanity was not simply "invented" in the 20th century. They are human just like the people of today are. Don't be so ignorant and naive!
I agree with you.I think it was C.G. too.How can somebody else say it didn't look like him, when the pic was so bad that it really didn't look like anyone, but it certainly sounded like him. ;)
@ElderPinkerton That's not Cary Grant. It does sound like him when he says "did you hurt yourself" but the rest doesn't and it doesn't look like him, either.

Bestmanme08 9 months ago
@fangbanger31 It may have been from My MAN GODFREY (1936) and the man struggling with the bicycles was William Powell.
MrFrontrowkid 6 months ago
@MrFrontrowkid No, it couldn't have been My Man Godfrey. It was set in NYC and there were no bicycle scenes.

For some of these bloopers, I don't think the director should have called "Cut!" A little error or hesitation makes the dialog seem more natural.
