Even though Mister is the main antagonist you can even see the softness in him, like maybe he was just raised that way (example: his father is overbearing) THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST WORKS OF AMERICAN CINEMA. As we all watch and view this movie, if Celie had a common or ounce of sense, I would have left Mister.
