Lucas is the most underrated player in the world, in my opinion he is the best holding midfielder around, he has great positional sense, he can tackle without diving in like an idiot, he has a good first touch and good control, and eye for a pass and he is a very good marker.

never doubted him since he made his move from gremio. he used to play as an attacking mid, maybe thats why he need a little more time to settle. but now he is one of the best defensive mid in the league, if not the best.
he is obviously developed into the one of the best holding midfielder in the league. I would love to see him doing what Gerrard did, going into a more offensive role and becomes an all rounded midfielder. Just put Henderson on CDM and lucas into the Gerrard place.
He has easily become my favourite Liverpool player, ahead of Suarez, Gerrard etc. He's really humble, hard working and persistent. His game has improved a hell of a lot this year. Just hope we stick with him and dont push him out for a more popular player.

But since rafa loved to play players outta position, Lucas had a more sitting back centre mid role also since gerrard was playing in amf. And it also didn't help being compared to masch and alonso. As far as having the capabilities, of course he does. Who won us the penalty against everton when kuyt scored 2 pens at goodison? And in the Europa league, in 0910 Lucas scored 1 or 2 goals
Also, I don't care what position he use to be at home in, he's now the perfect CDM playmaker, with great passing percentage, good possession keeping and an incredibly skilled tackler, let him roam the middle of the pitch in that role and he wins you games.

Lucas is hard worker, no doubt. He has performed well this season, and has cemented his place in the Liverpool lineup. But this is as good as he can be. He is a terrible finisher, small, not creative, and not particularly fast, so unless you are satisfied with where Liverpool is right now, you shouldn't be happy with him being in the starting lineup. If Liverpool want to be in the Champions League, they have to have better players to start than Lucas.
@wannagetupandjam Watching him at the match doesn't equal to a better assessment or judgment of how good/bad a footballer he is. Also, having one good season does not supersede or make up for three mediocre seasons. I think it's fair to say that you don't know shit about football. :)

Lucas is a brilliant player at what he does. If you want him to skin players, play 60 yard balls and score screamers you're going to be disappointed because that's not what he does. We have Stevie for that role.
What he does is command the midfield area in front of the defence. He's made more tackles than any PL player this season. He wins the ball, and moves it on to a more attacking/creative teammate. In that role, he's one of the best in the league.
Hes car crash TV. Forget his lack of talent, theres nothing he can do about that...when you lose Alonso and are replaced by Lucas the freefall that materialised was inevitable. The worst thing about him is hes the most passive individual ever seen on a field.

Thats not really true, in Brazil we play with two DMs and two AMs, we don't have Center Midfielders.
That said, lucas ahs always been a DM, the difference being that in Brazil he was the "second DM", which makes more foward runs and passes than the "first DM" (Mineiro, who scored that goal for Sao Paulo against liverpool in the Club World Cup was a "second DM"). Still, this position is more defensive than an AM.
In Brazil NT, Lucas even plays as "first DM", so he's not an CAM at all.
@RSRWCE He's a holding mid and normal cm at best. He doesn't have the attacking or scoring ability to play too far forward.. Learn a thing or two before you say this stuff. Lucas did amazingly well as a Holding CM last season, it's why he got Player of the Season.

he is obviously developed into the one of the best holding midfielder in the league. I would love to see him doing what Gerrard did, going into a more offensive role and becomes an all rounded midfielder. Just put Henderson on CDM and lucas into the Gerrard place.

He has easily become my favourite Liverpool player, ahead of Suarez, Gerrard etc. He's really humble, hard working and persistent. His game has improved a hell of a lot this year. Just hope we stick with him and dont push him out for a more popular player.

@willmaith when Lucas came to us, he was an attacking midfielder. That's where he played in gremio and brazil. But since rafa loved to play players outta position, Lucas had a more sitting back centre mid role also since gerrard was playing in amf. And it also didn't help being compared to masch and alonso. As far as having the capabilities, of course he does. Who won us the penalty against everton when kuyt scored 2 pens at goodison? And in the Europa league, in 0910 Lucas scored 1 or 2 goals

Lucas is hard worker, no doubt. He has performed well this season, and has cemented his place in the Liverpool lineup. But this is as good as he can be. He is a terrible finisher, small, not creative, and not particularly fast, so unless you are satisfied with where Liverpool is right now, you shouldn't be happy with him being in the starting lineup. If Liverpool want to be in the Champions League, they have to have better players to start than Lucas.

@kol2ven Of course it does. It allows you to watch him a lot closer, and look at his positional sense. You can hear how vocal he is with the rest of the team. Three mediocre seasons? I'd hardly say that. Maybe the first two he wasn't quite up to Liverpool standard but definately last season he showed he could do a job, and this season he's just re-inforced it. He's been fantastic.

How can people still not get it?
Lucas is a brilliant player at what he does. If you want him to skin players, play 60 yard balls and score screamers you're going to be disappointed because that's not what he does. We have Stevie for that role.
What he does is command the midfield area in front of the defence. He's made more tackles than any PL player this season. He wins the ball, and moves it on to a more attacking/creative teammate. In that role, he's one of the best in the league.

Thats not really true, in Brazil we play with two DMs and two AMs, we don't have Center Midfielders.
That said, lucas ahs always been a DM, the difference being that in Brazil he was the "second DM", which makes more foward runs and passes than the "first DM" (Mineiro, who scored that goal for Sao Paulo against liverpool in the Club World Cup was a "second DM"). Still, this position is more defensive than an AM.
In Brazil NT, Lucas even plays as "first DM", so he's not an CAM at all.
