Also I'd like to point out that he almost seems bored with making amazingly beautiful and intricate music with his hands. One thing I can't understand is why the top two strings of the balalaika are the same size. I get that they are both tuned the same, but it seems like you could use two different width strings to get a wider array of sounds.

And about the strings being the same size I don't know but as a guitar luthier to me it would make sense if they were the same size to get the same sound from each string. It reminds me of a 12 string guitar.
