I got this album for Christmas and after spending the entire day talking to a loved one that I miss dearly, I crawled into bed, completely exhausted, and listened to this track. That was one of the most powerful musical experiences I've ever had. It was the perfect mixture of crushing depression and absolute beauty. With that far-off sound that can only be described as leaves rustling in the wind, everything was perfect for 10 minutes. We all miss you Peter. thank you for the perfect music.
This song is so true for those of us who are night owls. And know what good music realy is unlike today. "If there is no hope then there is no fear" ( peter steel ) , gone but not forgoten.
Peter wasn't just another Gothic rock star. He was my big brother. His music pulled me through many tough times for 10 years. I'll miss him and the music they made. Truly a legend has died, an era and a piece of me as well.
I just don't understand 4 people. I mean I have been known to listen to some odd music. In fact I listen to a lot of genres! Everything from This, to Pantera, -80's rock, & power-ballads, classic & southern rock, Old country music, bluegrass & gospel, even vocaloid.. But just how are 4 people not "Haunted" by the beautifully brutal heaviness of this song! I get chills every time Pete hits that powerful depth of the fist "I hate the morning" part! October Rust will never be matched! EVER!!!

@xSassitx Ya it was Descent as I mentioned, lol. On Playstation only I believe, and it's an abridged version. Not sure if it was on the PC version, maybe someone can verify?
@cloudparter It was a demo version I had on my computer. I never owned a Playstation until I was 22....and I guess I just didn't notice the game name right there in your comments. I got too excited....haha! Thanks.
@6stringsamurai7 Let's kill bitches like ''Pitbull'' and spill their cheap commercial blood in the hope our EPIC rockers and metal artists may be revived!!
@6stringsamurai7 Since the too few thoughts Peter gave to us are far more than these Raps and Mainstreamers are even capable to catch a glimpse on... why don't we work on his signal without the sad rest? I love my Jukebox, anyone can love his own, I don't give a pee. You can't save earth and mankind with a majority. Because majority is morronity.
I had a dream that Peter Steele Popped out of an album cover, or some kind of computer or TV screen and was saying some of the poetry part from the song, "Haunted", and then went back into it. He was looking into my eyes, and I had never felt such an amazing swirl of emotions, but when it was over, I remembered he was gone. :'(
This makes Black Sabbath sound like a bunch of happy majorettes going to their prom (no disrespect though, Sabbath is a great band). It's uneasy to describe the depth of this song in plain words, it seems designed to drill a hole in the listener's soul until it riches its core (if i may indulge myself in such pompous terms). Absolutely unique and genuine piece of art...
I love this so much. I love so many of Type O negative songs, but this is by far my favorite. I feel so lucky to have seen them twice in concert. Peter will be missed, but not forgotten. Love them so much.
"Hades must be missing a demon" is a take off on the lyrics from a 70s tune which said "Heaven... must be missing an angel". Forget the name of the song, but he liked to do shit like that from time to time to see if anyone was paying attention.
Yes. I don't think I listened to anything else btwn '97 and '07 but TON. After spending time with BK and OR, everything else really ceased to matter :)
Beyond great This is bar none my favorite piece of music.Worthy and than some to be placed amongst the greatest composers Its sheer power, emotion, and Grace are truly overwhelming and yet soothing to those broken places within..A true musical genus and a very sad,and great loss s to all
From the panes a green mist swirls Is it a shadow of reflection? This apparition in moon beams bathed A voice like wind through trees beckons. Cool rain on hot summer stone The odor fills my presence, Of freshly dug grave and death and night These things are her essence. Nocturnal mistress, spirit lover, your mouth of wine and woodsmoke taste My goddess of the violet twilight You are lust incarnate. In the sweat of my bed The eastern sky hints of dawning, Alone and awake but exhausted I lie
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me that was amazing!!!!!!! I could go on and on and on about how type o and petes voice make me feel, but i think all type o fans feel the same! I love you pete and i think of you everyday. -3
I love this song; always a fan of long-ass songs, I would DIE to be able to hit that low note, with such resonance, when he first breaks in with "I hate the morning". That voice just sounds like gravestones and crumbling pillars

@Yamamanama Traditionally, the Green Man is reborn every year. Pete converted to Catholicism before his death, however, so from that stand point he does truly die, but is still immortal (at least his soul is)..
No matter your beliefs: Pete lives on through his music, and his fans.
@ther1zzl3r I believe everything is eternal, because we are the Universe, matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, which we are made of, so in my opinion we live on and Pete, like you said, is still conscious.
This album was one of my favorites. I remember buying this when it came out and I was 16 and listening to it while I fall asleep and dreaming some of the best dreams ever. This song was the best dream starter. When he passed music lost a rare talent. R.I.P Peter!!

I saw Pete perform this "live" in the early 90's. Being in front of him and sharing his bottle of wine with him - I will never ever ever ever forget. Is Peter really gone? I'm still praying he's in hiding and will resurface next October with a new album.
God, I remember getting this album when I was 16. It just took me on a journey and helped form a part of my brain. I'm 29 now and I still feel the same way when I listen to this.
Hey Ian I think I share that thought with you bro, I remember coming down off whatever drug I did that night I would listen to this album and this song was always the one to melow me out and put me at ease.. "Oh how I hate the morning," I can;t shed a tear for Peter cause to me he is still fresh in my mind and is in spirit and lives though all our memories...
What a gift. This song will always have more meaning to me than anyone can imagine. I listened to it during one of the best and worst times of my life. Peter truly understood that life gives and takes and no one is immune to its ups and downs. Thanks to Peter and TON this music will always represent the best "ups" duirng the worst downs of my life. Thank you Peter Steele and RIP ...
Been 2 weeks, 5 days and 13 hours since I heard the news. Been avoiding this song, as well as many others. Yet after the news I just heard, I knew this was what I needed to hear.
Thank you Peter for always being my words, always saying what I couldn't. No one ever did it better. Thank you for saving me, even when you've gone. RIP.

This album was one of my favorites. I remember buying this when it came out and I was 16 and listening to it while I fall asleep and dreaming some of the best dreams ever. This song was the best dream starter. When he passed music lost a rare talent. R.I.P Peter!!

Wasn't this song also on the game Descent 2? An old ass game, but I loved the soundtrack to it. Guess this is where they got it from.
Sillyjake86 1 year ago
@Sillyjake86: It was Descent 1, and it was an instrumental version of this.
Wilseus 1 year ago
@Wilseus I think you mean Descent 2, and yes it was obviously instrumental.
Sillyjake86 1 year ago
@Sillyjake86: It seems it must have been in both versions then. It was DEFINITELY in Descent 1 on the Playstation, because I have it.

October rust is a legend

I saw Pete perform this "live" in the early 90's. Being in front of him and sharing his bottle of wine with him - I will never ever ever ever forget. Is Peter really gone? I'm still praying he's in hiding and will resurface next October with a new album.

God, I remember getting this album when I was 16. It just took me on a journey and helped form a part of my brain. I'm 29 now and I still feel the same way when I listen to this.

i think i've finally come to a full realization that peter steele is dead, peter steele remains dead and life has killed him.
we will not see his like again, but at least we have a testament and legacy he left with masterpieces like this

RIP.
