  • dont forget to add its 3900lbs and has 4 seats, full sound system and trunk space.

the spec v should be about 400lbs lighter, with about 80 more hp. so that will already make the euro supercars feel dumb.

greatly engineered car. im tired of overpriced euro supercars. they have been exposed as overpriced and under performed. zr1 and GT-r proves that.

  • There's no way on god earth can a vette lap faster than the mighty GTR on nurburgring. GTR did held the record for a couple years.

  • dave doyr home work the z06 eatsyr turbo japo stuff inthe qtr and has many lemans wins behind it and alot more wins in endurance racing yr gtr has a tough reputation tocarry out and as usual the jap stuff never goes further than the magazines l;ying about false times and claims so you think people who are porsche and z06 fans are worried >???? hahahaha think again pal

  • nice~

  • Nice?! This GT-R is WICKED.

  • 3.3 was edmunds numbers the manufacturer states 3.5 depends on driver

but its slow compared to whats coming next year the GT-R GT 500 rumors say 2.1 sec 0-60

Detroit is beaten for good byebye viper

    byebye z06

    gt40

all stuck pigs from the line

without awd your not even in the race

  • 3.3 with launch control. It is around 3.8 without it. 2.1 is in the F1 area and 2.1 will only be in the rumor.

  • please tell me this is true....omfg...that would be insane....i would get one the day it came out

  • Actually.. Comparing them is practical if you look at luxury/performance. The way you are thinking like most compare cars is impractical yes.

lol.. stating that someone lacks true car knowledge is a desperate attempt to revive yourself.

  • Re-read all the things i've said and actually look at the non-negatives.. Or better yet i'll help you since you appear to ove missed it.

    1. It is possible to beat Official number

    2. AWD was a smart move

    (Other comment of video like this);

    3. a lot of good engineering went into this car

    4. Bang for the Buck

  • Sigh.. its like talking to a wall.. I guess all those years wearing a padded helmet and riding the short buss did no good for yeah.

Who said anything about a Trans Am?

Anyways... before I start the battle of the retard Olympics.. Its possible cars can go faster then official numbers, but I would doubt they can consistently do it like the official numbers can.

I'd take a BMW E60 M5 over this car just because of the luxury and performance, but thats my opinion.

  • The Trans AM reply was for another guy that said to take the two turbos off and you have a Z. Its not a realistic comparison.

So you only go by official specs. So if a manufacturer overstates hp, like say Mazda , and Ford have both have had problems with , and independent tests prove otherwise , then you still go with the manufacturer specs . You sure you weren't on that short bus, because I was not.

An E60 M5 is a different car than a GT-R. Comparing them shows you lack true car knowledge.

  • I don't look at junk.. Just the Official specs.

zero to 60 time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of only 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph.

    Look it up.

  • So real world performance , not manufacturer stated numbers trump ? I live in the real world. Real world numbers are what you get. Nissans numbers are conservative.

  • Why the Hell is everyones 0-60 keep getting shorter and shorter or are all different.. i've seen.. 3.5sec.. 3.2sec.. and now 3.3sec.. Ya'll needa stop saying false stuff and go with whats tested. 3.5sec.

Car looks like crap.. only good feature is the AWD.

  • Edmunds - Inside Line did test it. Look it up. They did 3.3 seconds 0-60. The video is online here. Look for Edmunds GT-R full test.

  • 3.3 0-60

    fuuuuc. what a beast

  • in 0:17 it looked liked fire came out of the gtr's muffler

  • it did lol look at the instant replay that car is fucking beast and it is comine to the U.S. in 2008...cant w8

  • I just watched the Nissan GT-R runs a 7:38 at Nurburgring video. I wonder if a Corvette can beat that time?

  • Can't find better than 7.43. ZR1 may do better. Who cares? Judge on the looks, Corvette wins easily. You'd always have to explain the GTR but every knows the 'vette. Okay, okay - have both.

  • I think the reason why this car is able to do 0-60 in 3.5 is due tto its smart all wheel drive system. the power ratio for the front and the back wheels are divided 50/50 under hard aceralation. The front, back wheel power changes according to different driving cond.

  • Edmunds did 3.3 seconds 0-60 testing a Japan market car. 11.6 @ 120.9 in the quarter.

  • 0-60 in 3.5 sec. Smart all wheel drive system. Sounds like a winner to me.

  • its pretty funny that all you should dis this car...it has alot of power for being a V6! and it can beat/keep up with a corvette that has a V8! hahaha so no matter what you all say...this car is bad ass...no american car that I know of, is in the same class as the GT-R. From all I see all the AMERICAN cars they tested had V8s, if you were to put it in the same class, i.e. V6 vs. V6 it would still win! my point is, this car is fast and NO american V6 to date can beat it!

  • take the turbos off that "V6" and see how much power it makes... oh yea they did its called the slow as piss 350z.

  • And take two cylinders off your Trans Am, and you have a secretaries car. Whats the point ?

  • the c6 z06 is still faster. at the "ring" it did 7:42 while the gtr did a 7:50 on the second try with out track tires. at first the gtr had track tires and did 7:38 with track tires.

  • Hey all you ricers, Talk about the track time. It's the indian not the arrow. 485hp at 3800lbs. ZO6 3120lbs 505hp. do the math! I know you wish your souped up economy car would beat the corvette. too bad.

  • 480 whp as ran on a Dynapack dyno in Japan. 2009gtr . com

  • Lap times and dyno readings have a lot of things to consider such as, temperature barometric pressure, etc. They don't mean squat if you are comparing car to car unles you do thm at the same time. Get that car in the real world and look at the ZO6's taillights. bye bye

  • The Zo6 (c6) got 7:40-1 mins around the 'ring. Chevrolet claimed that it did that and if you search it ppl will say that. But meh I would still prefer the skyline because its a car to die for!

  • '09 with 485hp. That would be good for '05. The new ZO6 will smoke it. More HP and 700 lbs less. Nissan's claims are B.S. Get it on the road in the real world and wath a lot of other cars taillights.

  • Go to 2009gtr . com and look at the proof of the 7:37.500 Nurburgring lap time.

  • I would like to see the proof for that 08' z06 you claim. I hope your not reffering to the 650hp 2009 zr1 code name "blue devil" which is not a z06. Plus it will rumoered to cost in the 100k for it.

  • The gt-r will all was beat a ZO6 on the track any day and that is fact look it up. Real world what planet are you living on....

  • Please don't call this a 2009 GTR.

It's in Japan on 6th December '07, US in Q1 or Q2 2008 and hits Europe late '08.

    2008 Nissan GT-R.

  • Nissan calls it a 2009 GT-R. In the US it goes by model year, not date of release. Nissan calls it an 09 , I call it an 09

    2009 Nissan GT-R.

  • 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. that says enough

  • Those are Nissan's claims. Not proven. Let Car and Driver or Road and Track have it for a few days.

  • i want 1... i want 1 ... so bad.... i already put up my nissan 350z and infiniti g35 for sale.. so i can get money for this car.... FcuKN AMAZING

  • Oh yeh, Being 20 years of age and u got a 350z and a infiniti.... I dont think so... i smell the sweet smell of bullshit.

  • That cars fucking HOT!!!

  • that baby inspiring me

  • fucking great car when its coming to europe

  • German car are trash especially Porsche, and are totally over rated. They are over priced and ugly. Take the porsche 911, for an example which generally kept the same body styling for ever. This Nissan GT-R will bitch slap any BS Porsche, the problem is, no German will want to admit that fact.I'm sure that those who are trying to put Nissan new dream machine in a negative light are problem europeans.

  • yo man... totally agree with u.... NISSAN's the best.... porsche's are all ugly... they look too lazy man./... GT-R's the best... NISSAN has always build their GT-Rs against the porsches.... including the r32 GT-R (against the then supercar porsche996) ! GT-R rules ! cheap and faster.....

    cut-price supercar-slayer !

  • When the GT-r hits North America next year, Corvette Z06 owners will probably be miffed too. The GT-R appears to be a far superior car and the suggested list price is about the same as a Z06. As long as the GT-R performs the way it's supposed to it'll kick some serious ass. I can't wait until tuners get a hold of it - if it's that fast with 480 hp, just imagine what it'll be like with 600+.

  • Read comments from those that have researched the car. Or research it yourself. This car is not proven. Only Nissan's claims. And a pre-production car run on N'Ring on "cut slick tyres"(Mizuno's quote). Would be nice to see someone other than Nissan test the production car. 485HP for 3800 lbs is not all that good of a weight/HP ratio. Compared to what's out there.

  • Motor trend in their magazine has labeled the GTR as a "Corvette killer." One because of it's ridiculous $70,000 which is in the same price range of the corvette. Plus the specs and features offered in it could easily be in the 100,000. Secondly it's performance is compareable if not better than the Z06. 0-60 in 3.5sec. Top speed of 193mph. That's a heck of a deal.

  • Motor Trend hasn't tested the car. They are hyping it. Road and Track shows results of a 0-60 in 3.9. 1/4 mile in 12.3 @ 116 MPH. Check out the site. Still a great car. But those times are slower than a Z06.

  • Were is the actual test of the car. I need the direct link because I don't see it on their site.

  • Seems someone here cant stand a Nissan being as fast as or faster than a Z06 or a 997 :-) First they claim the GT-R used cut slicks for N'Ring (which of course they didnt, using stock RE070R RFT's), now they say Nissan's times are rubbish. I'm waiting to see whats next

  • Reno you qoute that 485HP for 3800LBS is not all that great of a weight to HP ratio, compared to whats out there. Please I dying to hear this, whats out there in the same class as the new GT-R that can compete with this machine? please tell me because its sound like you dont no what your talking about....

  • There are many cars with over 485 HP that are lighter than the GTR by over 500 lbs. The Z06, Gallardo, F430 are some examples. You think HP/weight ratio doesn't matter? Where's your proof the GTR does 0-60 in 3.5? Let's see it. Step on up with it!

  • your payin a lot more than $70,000 for an f430 or gallardo though m8

  • I know that. We were talking performance stats.

  • I seriously agree, and I know we have some people out their drinkin hateraid because it's a Nissan.

O-60 3.5sec @ 480hp. But 600hp? Ooo dude that would be one heck of a machine.

  • 0-100km 3.5......you should see the rain and snow tests.....f*ck super cars....over rated japan all the way

  • It did beat the Porsche 911/997 Turbo recordtime at the ring...... Sorry man, but if ALSO costs a lot less and in mine opinion is look much better...

  • dude it's not that special to beat a 997, I can do it with an 94 RX7TT and with a minumim $9,572.53 worth of work.

Also a can of red bull, and a cookie

  • A pre-production mule with hand-cut slicks beat the 911. Don't get too upset when the GT-R comes out in 09 and can't manage a sub-7:50 lap time.

  • japanese cars are the best in the world

  • Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced the launch of the Nissan GT-R, a new multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of "an ultimate supercar for anyone, anywhere, at anytime". The Nissan GT-R features a newly developed Premium Midship package, including the world's first independent transaxle 4WD developed independently by Nissan. The Nissan GT-R will be available in Japan mainly through Nissan High Performance Centers nationwide from December 6th.

  • Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine, featuring plasma-sprayed bores and a special twin-turbo exhaust manifold system. A secondary air management system enables the newly designed powerplant to provide approximately 40kg/m of torque during ordinary low-rev driving, which gives an optimum air-fuel ratio for around-town efficiency and helps the Nissan GT-R meet ultra-low emission vehicle (U-LEV) standards in Japan.

  • The Nissan GT-R's new engine produces 480PS (353kW) at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 60kgm (588Nm) from 3200 to 5200rpm. Putting the power to the ground is an all-new GR6-type dual clutch transmission, with paddle shifting and a Borg Warner six-plate dual clutch for direct control.

  • Suspension duties are handled through a special Bilstein DampTronic*1 system, which utilizes all pertinent vehicle information to provide appropriate damping forces for all situations and helps maintain a high level of control for straight-line driving, cornering, and braking.

  • Adjustability is central to the daily-driver nature of the Nissan GT-R, with a special "set-up switch" located in the center of the instrument panel. This switch enables the driver to adjust transmission shifts, shock absorbers and the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC-R) in three settings -- Normal, Comfort or R, the high-performance setting designed for the Nissan GT-R "supercar" application.

  • when its coming to europe?? fxxking great car

  • I prefer the older model the R34

  • From my point of view the skyline great car and also maybe one of best the cars, but not best but one of them. the only thing is 70,000 dollar for for a nissan for a nissan. engine, computer, and drivetrain is great. but 70,000 dollar for a plastic interior and fake Leather come on.

  • U can get the new M3 or the new e63 it gets 450 to 500hp of something the size of

a civic. Plus that right there put the bang in

ur money real things in ur car and same

performance. people want to buy the skyline is because u cant afford a 911 or hate and bet

    the 911.

  • Yes it would bet the 911 but the skyline will come close to the 911 turbo. depending on the drive who would win that race but for the 911 gt2 no chance skyline can only push 480 the gt2 push 520. u have to upgrade a skyline any ways to bet a 911 gt2 520hp.

  • with all the upgrade u are going to kick ur self in

the ass know that u should the get the 911 turbo and upgrade with gmg and getting 600hp and kill the gt2 or upgrade it even more to kill other cars. Please do good for ur money, 70,000 dollar a nissan come on. brand new 2009 Skyline for 40 to 50,000 best car for an avage

man can buy. i am sure many will agree on me there.

  • is it true that lotus was hired to do the suspension for godzilla?

  • damn that makes me wanna play Gran Taurismo.. LOL...

  • i love it at 0.17s

  • The release date in Japan for the new GT-R has been confirmed for 24th October 2007.

official pricing and has also been released in japan

Nissan dealers have said to expect a cost price of 7.7million yen in JAPAN drive away, but that does not include registration, taxes and importation to other countries, which could increase the price upto 30-40%

  • the car will have over 500+ horse raw. the price range right now is 60grand it might go higher if nisssan adds more stuff to it

  • New GTR will have v6 twin turbo with 480ps/58kg of torque. DSG 7 speed and maybe 6MT. In 2008, they will launch V spec with lighter body with 580ps. It is like tuned g34 for stock GTR!. Body can support 600ps without any support modification. Now, stock GTR could fight stock GT2.

  • anyone know how much this car will cost when it become available in the united states?

  • Official pricing has not been released yet. Something around the $70,000 range.

  • omfg... its the return of the ultimate class b sports car

  • I've been searching for this car and I always see the ones with a cover on the front and the back. It makes the car ugly. I just wanna see the whole body without the covers.

  • Its a prototype. You aren't going to see it without covers for about another 100 days when it debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show. 2009gtr

  • Check out the new Gran Turismo 5 trailers for the PS3. It's a good bet that the final car will look like that. And you can see it moving (in cg :P)

  • Actually I may have just typed something stupid so ignore me! The car in GT5 (and new Need for Speed) is still the proto so i guess it might look different. But i hope not, it's a good looking beast!

  • lol...yea...just wait till the car comes out and then u will know if u said something stupid

  • no hes right. Its called a skyline gtr for 2009. Twin turboed V6 with AWD. somewhere in the 400-500hp range. Starting price $70,000!!!

  • Nissan has got to incorporate some of technologies from Renault f1. Lot of other manufactures already do that.

  • Name one.

  • Even F50 had zero F1 technology - F1 has long borne no relationship with road cars. Nothing wrong with that - it's better than NASCAR fraud like rwd "Ford Fusion."

  • what about paddle shifters... that came from f1. toyota, ferrari and mercedes incoroporate lot of engine management into their high performance cars. f60 has got that steering lights mentioned in top gear video. ain' that f1

  • The Enzo does claim to use F1 technology, but that is not really a production Ferrari.

Sequential shifting in production Ferraris (and Alfa Romeos) has NOTHING to do with their F1 technology. Sequential gearboxes have long been used in rallying - THAT'S where there's most common development in racing and road cars. WRX, Evo etc. benefit DIRECTLY from WRC campaign.

  • what are you talking about enzo is a production ferrari. ya fxx may not be one but enzo definitely is a production ferrari. Sequential came from f1 too at least no a exact same version but toned down. read wiki's article on Sequential_gearbox. it mentions how ferrari uses "F1 superfast" gear box as a link between their f1 efforts.

  • so nissan could should follow too.... borrow some from renault. that all dude.

  • No conceivable Nissan could use ANYTHING from the F1 program (apart from core technology that I'm sure benefits every Nissan and Renault to some degree). Those days are LONG gone!

  • but could benefit their performance cars like GT-R here.

  • F1 is the NAME of the sequential 'box used by Alfa and Ferrari road cars. The Wikipedia author may have mis-interpreted that fact.

Plus, Wikipedia is handy, but don't trust anything you read there - it's just written by guys like you and me. My memory is OFTEN wrong, and I've picked up lots of errors in Wikipedia!

    And come on - 288GTO, F40, F50, Enzo aren't production Ferraris!

  • By the way, Ferrari, BMW and Honda technology benefits from F1 (not least through engineers' expertise). Mercedes merely BOUGHT Ilmor, and has shares in (independent) McLaren. They're BOGUS.

  • If there's any fraud here it would be you, mr. fake expert.. I did not hear or read anywhere that Ford ever claimed using Nascar technonoly in their street version of Fusion. and BTW Porsche & M-B invented & applied AWD 60 years before your Jensen FF did.. "mite"

  • The fraud is the whole concept of NASCAR. "Car of Tomorrow" and "Engine of Tomorrow" is increasingly a one-make-series masquerading as inter-marque competition. JOKE!

My point re. FF is simply that the Skyline GTR is not a Porsche wannabee because it shares some of its specification.

  • And if there is a Porsche or Mercedes production car that had AWD before the FF please educate me.

I'm always happy to learn from someone who knows something that I don't.

  • another wanabe 911 turbo...heh

  • Rubbish - the 911 and the Skyline GTR are both GREAT cars. There is NOTHING about the Nissan that imitates the Porsche in ANY way.

Turbo - Chevrolet, BMW were there before Porsche.

    4WD - Jensen FF (even before ur-Quattro).

What else do they have in common, other than 4 wheels?

  • It looks ugly...

  • ah... with the performance and the $ I'd take this car over the NSX anyday. NSX has a ugly tail light anyway. ah... I need to save up now... hmmm trade in my 350z and get GT-R! :)

  • The basic GTR did it in 7.37 around Nürbrugring, the Nismo verision did it in 7.15. Kapisch? And yea, its faster than the Vette and the Porsche. Most bang for the buck car! GO GTR!

  • the gtr was faster than the 911 turbo in nurburing, tsukuba n at laguna seca by about point something seconds faster. the gtr still may not be able to take the porsche in a drag race but it can handle against it easily on circiuts. not bad considering thats its going to be about 60k cheaper n its a four seater so its pretty sweet!

  • shut up all of GT-R spy is faster then 911 really its so nice car 911 is baby oowwaaa dont cry my lil baby

  • Fast? No Doubt. But it looks fat, tall, and just plain BIG. Not an ounce of style to go with the Numbers. And it does sound like crap. Still, since it is supposed to only be $70, it'll be a relative performance bargain.

  • what happened to the previous comment ?

anyways who ever posted it, you owned yourself.

The GTR times were never posted.

  • anyone knows the time he did? ( ganna try to beat it in GT4 game :P)

  • thats pretty lame

but search it, the times were posted. Think it was faster than a 911

  • lame? oh well what u ganna do lol

and ive looked... and its not faster then 911 :(

( go geramn cars)it was slower by a whole lot...

  • the official times were never posted, but unofficial track times said it was a few tenths of a second quicker than the 911 gt2

  • 75k

its going to be a v6 450hp car... more in the nsx range...

  • does anybody know how much?

  • Sweet, but needs a better exhaust pitch.

  • They need to hurry and get this car out!!

  • I wonder when can I order it and will they make an import model as well, actually I'd need left hand drive version (Germany).

Love this beast, though I'd expect the exhaust rumble to be a little bit louder.

  • that shit is loud! You figure it's a turbo charged VQ35 motor. listen to a G35 coupe or 350Z at around 6500 rpms. Thats about the same sound you'll get w/ the new GTR. remember turbo; bigger pipes!!!

  • its not a VQ35

its a VQ38HR it did 7:15 at the Nurb-the bitch s bad as shit. 4th fastest car out there ever

  • 7:15!!! No way in hell. All out supercars and full on track cars don't even lap that fast. Current "street legal" modified production car is a Edo Competion 996 GT2 with over 700rwhp. As much as I love the Skyline, it didn't happen, not in 7:15 or 7:35 for that matter. I might believe 7:45 but that is even mighty fast!

  • The new GTR is not a Skyline dude.

  • The Z06 did 7:42.9 and the porsche GT3 did it in 7:43 so why can't the AWD GT-R do it in 7:15 ??????
