GOT IT! Thnx! Luvely!! Now I shall get a Gyaling, can I get it in India as well? It´s a lovely instrument! I like it of the many notes in only 1 hole!! So that makes it different from the normal type of instruments alike to it. Thnx a lot 4 taking your time to share & teach us. Love, light, peace, happiness, harmony, beauty & abundance to all!
I've also got one other question - I notice that you use your right hand on top. Is that the "proper" way to play or does handedness matter? (As you know, Western instruments always have the left hand on top but I really don't know what is "correct" with gyalings.) Thanks!
@bassoonkap The right hand on top is how the gyaling is mostly played though I think I've seen the reverse here and there. We follow what our teachers do!
Fascinating video. I am looking for information on making reeds for gyalings - do you have any information where instructions might be found? I've been unsuccessful, so far, in even finding pictures of the reeds. Thanks.
@bassoonkap Reed-making is essential and we have plans for next video on this subject -- it is just a question of when....I hope you can check back occassionally or subscribe to this channel.
Great. This bottle technique came from Chagdud Rinpoche. Really we used water in a glass but we added the bottle so the water did not splash all over and it is a great to use to practice walking and playing as in a procession to received lamas.
i play the oboe and when i play i can "spit" the air threw it but i can inhale its like my wind nose is closed so ... do you have any tips or tricks cuz i cant seem to get it
Did you try using just water in a bottle? Doing the breathing work off the instrument can highlight what our problems are. We abstract or serialize our experience by doing similar movements using other tools. Or even anther musical instrument. For straws, the stirrers for cocktails with tiny openings are good and portable too.
If you are spitting, try just doing exhalations only and focus there until they are smooth. Then, only inhalations and focus, analyze. Then both together. Let me know.
We do play almost everyday here at Khadro Ling. And we are hoping to post more instructional videos under the guidance of our teachers. Thank you for your support and I will look into a reedmaking video as monopole2 suggested. With all good wishes! Liz
Your ability is very inspiring, we would be so great full if you could post more videos, and especially the instructions on how to make the "pipi" reeds.
this video helps me al ot to ply mi one
thanks for shering

I didn't think I'd pick it up, but I was actually able to do it pretty quickly. The bottle technique is a good illustration.
