  • Your DBZ comment was right on- I named this the "fireball" the first time I saw it because it looked like the guy was doing a hadouken. GREAT videos, btw

  • please teach me how to do it please its hard i cant

  • i juzz love u

  • I keep coming back to your tutorials, they are awesome. Many thanks for doing them!

When you do spirals with fire - do you change your poi loops position on your fingers? I find it a lot more difficult with loops at the tips of my fingers or is it that because my planes are off?

  • i learnt this off my friend before watching this and he and i both mesh our fingers when we do it and dont pull apart at all. I started off by doing it like this and pulling apart then back again but after a bit of practice i found that i can just bounce them off my wrists and keep it going fine. I find this method looks a bit neater because the poi are staying strictly in a perfect circle around my hands.

And btw i love what youre wearing. You're a very classy spinner.

  • i love to learn foi.. but its to hard for me...

  • acaso esos son calcetines??

  • @fieebree Sí, esos son los calcetines

  • i like your dragon ballz reference haha oldschool

  • I love doing this trick but i have flowlights with light handles so i can't put my hands together like that and i like to play it short(11" approx) and this is only enough to spin the poi around my hand 3/4 time :S Any idea? If i would make a flowpoi duo from it would it become better with a single loop hande?

  • You should still be able to do it, just try to redirect the poi to wrap around your wrists instead, but if you're still having trouble, then yeah, loop handles may be easier. But I find duos don't work too well for spirals because the head is so long that it doesn't wrap properly. They're certainly still doable, but less comfortable.

  • Are you doing a 90 degree turn out of a 3btw to go into the spiral?

  • That's probably the best way to get into them, yes, but you should also try learning them from any split-time, same-direction move, like windmill, your reels, buzzsaw etc.

  • What is this for?

  • for performance or for fun or to help change direction with a little pizazze =)

  • I tried them in ceiling/floor plane doing a wrap over my head it was such a RUSH!

  • these are fun with fire

  • Yeah, they really are, they look lovely too.

  • That thing you are doing at 0:38 what is it called and how do you do that?

  • That's an isolation. I've got a tutorial on how to get started on isolations, it's poi lesson 42, and there's also one for the isolated buzzsaw which is 43 I think, but I'm not sure. Either way, check my videos and you'll find some stuff to get you started on isolations.

  • holy crap I have been trying to get this move from other videos and could not do it. After watching yours, 3 minutes later I can do them. thank you man!

  • Glad to hear I helped man, it's always encouraging when my videos help people learn.

  • hey man your video's are awesome, i'm tottally bummed out by how good you are, its mad, your lessons are very handy thou, i've never seen anybody so diligently reply to all the request for help on demo vids either, keep up the good work dude peace out

  • Thanks man, I appreciate that. But don't feel bummed by how good I am, give it enough practice and you'll be just as good, if not better, suprisingly quickly. Following my lessons will help ; )

I reply to people's comments because I feel that feedback is an essential part of learning, and if somebody has a question they need answered, getting the answer could speed their progress, while ignoring it could cost them a lot of time trying to find the answer themselves. I'm here to help. Cheers man.

  • man the speedyness of your reply is awesome, will practice, have been gettin quite into poi recently, in the words of meenik they're like little yodas but smaller on strings

  • Nick Woolsey was also quoted as saying "They're like little Yodas, only smaller, spherical and transparent" about contact spheres. While I know he's being silly, I don't fully understand what he's talking about with those quotes, and fail to see any comparison between Yoda and poi or contact spheres that aren't really distant.

  • i like your teachings. you make this art easy to understand. i have come along way using my poi...ready for fire hopefully by spring!!!

  • haha yeahhhh kamahamahaaa!!!!!!

  • aww.. 'boo hiss' it looks so easy :( i will be able to i will i will lol

see i just can't get them to rap oh well :O

  • I think we can't make this with fire poi..or?

  • Nope, you can definitely do this with fire poi. Anything you can do with normal poi, you can do with fire, even catches, it just depends on how much you're willing to risk getting burnt. I do have a few scars on my wrists from getting burnt doing this move and other similar moves with fire poi, but they're not too bad, it's just the heated metal sears quickly. If you're worried, use kevlar or other protective wrist/forearm guards, they can be found in any work safety store. Enjoy.

  • thank you for the answer :)

  • good tutorial, nicely explained

  • great lesson, thanx

  • cool

  • Nice tutorial dude :)
