Why all these repeat offenders? Maybe we need walk-in prisons ... you know, a place with all the amenities of prison, yet the inhabitants don't need to commit a crime and clog the courts in order to live there. Plus, they can leave anytime they wish.
The state can donate some land, some garden tools and vegetable seeds so they can grow their own food, and building supplies so they can build themselves simple shelters. And the community can donate them some acceptance and career training.
Yes, prisoners should have the right to vote. It reminds them that they're important members of society with much to contribute.
They should have plenty of opportunities for employment when they leave prison. This will help them to heal, to contribute, to gain independence, and to escape the gravity of prison.
Much of the behavior that landed most of them in prison was related to their low states of consciousness at the time. They grow and learn.
........ and had nothing better to do while he was being housed, clothed and fed on taxpayers money other than to learn the law and attack the legal system in every way he could looking for cracks or loopholes in the system... he could not have made these legal challenges had he not been a prisoner as you and I as taxpayers footed the bill for his legal challenges. And Jamie Oliver lets him loose among some of our most vunerable people.... Its despicable....
First of all, the prosecution in a criminal case has the right to bring in evidence of a defendants bad character, that is to say if a person has several convictions for theft and is being prosecuted for shoplifting, the prosecution are allowed to say that defendant is a thief. It has to be for a relevant offence. This guy defending his human rights is John Hirst, who really should have been convicted of murder. The only way he challenged the legal system is because he was a prisoner..........
Love the way that Mrs Blair, who believes that prisoners should have the right to vote, having lost the classroom highlights the minority who agree with her. To her losing the vote means the argument continues, if her position had won to her that would have meant the vote would have setlled the argument.
WHY was that guy John (who killed his landlady by bludgeoning her to death with an axe) allowed into the classroom???!!! When I worked with kids years ago, I had to have a CRB check done to make sure I didn't have a criminal record. It was said to me very clearly that anyone who had a criminal record would not be allowed to work with kids. Has Mrs Bliar just broken the law?

We all make mistakes. Forgiveness is best.
