  • Man i miss u momma... :'( if only u can c me now

  • It's difficult to believe LaVerna has made her transition! We were musicians for, "Universal Celestial Temple of Truth," of Detroit, MI under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Betty Hall. I was an Organist, and believe it when I say, LaVerna was a Drummer second to none! Always a fabulous composer/soloist, (as far back as her lead solo on, "For This I am Thankful," with Rev. James Cleveland and The Voices of Tabernacle) with a vocal range beyond compare...

  • Go head Auntie. I miss u so much. I hope 2 c again. Until then I'll keep striving to be the best that I can be 4 Jesus. I want to hear Him say well done good and faithful servant.

  • She is showing out so hard---I LOVE IT!!!! Go 'head and take us in Mason!!!!!!

  • Amen!! She sung This Song Go Head Ms.Laverna Mason

  • Those High Notes She Hit was So Beautiful, The song It's Self Is A Blessing.

  • I want to say thanks to all of you for sharing this great music. I had the great pleasure of working with Rev. Joey Jones as a musician too for 7yrs. We must continue to remember these great legendary gospel singers and musicians. Thank you Rev. James Cleveland for opening the doors, and to Min. Laverna Mason thanks for your anointed voice. Eld. Harold Jackson

  • Minister Laverna Mason really showed her behind on this song. I had the pleasure of singing with her out of the country in Tahiti. We did a two week trip there, singing around the island. She was a mess, but I love her lol. Her passing is a hard pill to swallow.

  • I had the pleasure of singing with Ms Mason and tried to reconnect but now hearing her passing I am saddened beyond words. We are blessed to have her music alive with us today

  • THE LATE???? i didnt know she died!!! when did she pass and how? OMG!!!!

  • I was shocked, too. I read about it in another LA Messengers post. Please she Sheall323's earlier comments for more information on Ms. Mason's death. Sheall323 was a Messenger.

  • ok thank you! by the way, this was one of my many favorite songs from this album! thanks for posting it! she also lead i have a determination on that album which was good too!

  • i think yall are my distant fams or somethin... i loooooooooooove my sopranos!! esp my high adlibbing ones!!! and when the choirs nowadays wont do them, i shole belt them out!!! lol

  • A song like this will sure make you belt them out. I just have to shake head. I wish I could have jumped over the railing and just beat up on her for singing us crazy.

  • I had this on VHS once. I think I will see if I can get the DVD. I remember watching it and thinking to myself that I would have really loved to have been in attendance at that concert/recording session.

  • I was actually a choir member and get so much joy hearing what we sounded like in that day. That's Kurt Carr on th piano and Joey Jones on the organ. Two great musicians who Reverend Cleveland bless this group with who came from back east.

  • @Sheall323 Joey Jones....I miss him. Just thinking of him right now brings tears to my eyes, but he is in a much better place. I miss him more than words can express

  • @BraidsByLoLita I miss Joey a lot. I have a video to post that has him as musical director for Los Angeles Gospel Messenges. I will be happy when I can get it posted

  • you can also hear those sopranos hit them high notes in Rev James Clevelands I stood on the banks of Jordan...They put in work on that song!

  • when did she pass?i thought i heard that she died alittle later than james cleveland.she had a voice that would just make you wanna run and shout especially when she hit those high notes.RIP one of the best sopranos i ever heard.

  • I'm not sure. I read about it in another youtube post. I love my sassy sopranos. I have sat for hours looking at old clips of people like Clay Evans just to hear the sopranos hit their special notes. I'm not sure what you call them, so I just refer to them as the note ladies.

  • mezzo soprano or squallars or second sopranos are all the names that i know.

  • Right. But, I'm talking about the ones who hit the high notes at the end of a verse and right before the rest of the choir sings the chorus. A very good example would be Walking Up The Kings Highway lead by Loretta Oliver (posted by fstanley35). You should check it out. Those sopranos are awesome. Most choirs don't have the note ladies anymore. They may do a little ad-libbing, but not too many have note ladies.

  • i never knew that they were called different from the other sopranos.maybe i am just not sure how many different types of sopranos their are.

  • ME TOO!!! LOL! I Love Them High Notes!!

  • She died in 2007 right after the Florida GMWA Workshop in Miami. She was in the south at he time, I think Georgia.

  • Thanks for the information. Ms. Mason's voice is truly missed.

  • This song!!! Oh my God this song!! And Ms. Mason!!! I didn't know she died!! This song helped me with the passing of my father...I had the video but can't find it...if anybody has the video, PLEASE upload this cut!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • This is one of my favorites as well. I didn't know Ms. Mason had passed until I read about it in some other comments on youtube. I think it was in the the comments for Yes I Can.
