However, my point is this: Is it worse to lose some money or to lose your family and friends? @vanitykitty7 I think that's a little far as most religions are not dependent on extracting money from its parishioners. However, this does not include Scientology as it expects its followers to make daily payments and therefore should not be recognised as a religion thus should not be tax exempt.

Absolutely, that's the biggest problem with the religion. They convince lonely people to incur massive debt to move up their dumb level system.
You can easily find stories of people convinced to mortgage their homes or turn the deeds over the church in order to buy the correct program.
The special was alright, but it avoided all of that completely.
As well as the people who have died because the church told them to stop taking anti-psychotic medication...
