You always have to wonder about videos that are selective about what posts they show.
The poster is obviously unwilling to show that there are in fact other facilities that are very good and to look at both sides of the story when it comes to breeders
@PinkMaggitF1 Not at all, but when you start off a post calling another poster an "idiot", you've lost the privilege to carry on with your rants here. As a side note, yes there are great, professional and reputable breeding programs that exist for TRUE conservation programs in the wild but breeding for the pet trade is nowhere near those levels of great work. The pet trade is not true conservation of the species.
I got my bird from a shelter...took a long time, but she is happy and healthy.
as for parrots outliving us, I belong to a bird club, and we protect the birds when the caretakers have moved on (died). Never do we give to anyone that is collecting for breeding purposes.
and those birds in this video...no toys, no distractions, sad sad sad SAD!
I had no ideal that breeding birds was so largely in demand..This does not look like a good place at all....PLEASE!! do not buy from pet store like Pet Smart they get their birds from a place like this.
I run a small shelter for unwanted birds and I see alot of poorly fed and mistreatd birds
I think this video is misleading, as it's only showing the small interior cages and nestboxes, and not the adjoining outdoor flights, which I would guess are much larger. You can clearly see the bright outdoor sun shining in through the opening to the outdoor flight in each cage. Many breeders use lrg outdoor flights with adjoining indoor ones for protection from weather. There are many bad breeders and also many very good breeders who really care for their birds.
Expensive set up...drip system & all, cost money to do this & you don't always get your money back. Most breeders house the breeding birds indoors & when done they release them back in to a large main avairy, I agree it's misleading, Yet notice it is very clean! Cages look roomy
@tielhi2 There's not a single toy or other distraction in this entire prison-like facility. Completely cruel way to treat intelligent animals like parrots.
if you are going to buy from breeders ask if they've hand fed the bird from birth (a bird miller would have absolutely no time for that) and also ask if they can provide pictures/give a tour of where they keep their birds and their food supplies.
@Fidmom1 -- resuce them from owners who are worn out trying to keep up with the demands ... many species live for 50+ years. Are you up to that? Keeping parrots as pets should be a dying industry. I wish.
it isn't fair to say all breeding of animals should be stopped. most are bred and raised lovingly. my african grey is my baby i love him with all my heart and the breeder he came provides a loveing, happy healthy environment.
it's people like this that give breeders and exotic animal owners a band name. it's not a case of closing down all breeders it's a matter of imposing restrictions on who can and cannot breed animals.
Write emails to your legislators and tell them you won't stand for animals being exploited this way and shut these hell holes down. This is absolute cruelty motivated by greed and until our legislators know we won't stand for it, it will continue.
How utterly shameful - THIS is why the breeding of ALL birds/animals for the Pet Trade Must be stopped.
Pet Trade - Slave Trade... Not much difference except the species. Sad reflection on Humanity. Odd this word is derived from humane yet we so rarely are...

This is why we should never BUY birds from breeders or pet stores. These mills have filled the rescues with disposable pets.
NEVER BUY KAYTEE PRODUCTS

reapersgoddess 2 years ago
Kaytee is founded from a bird mill. Don't buy their products and support this horirble trade, go for Zupreme products instead.
Kittmmzosin 2 years ago 2
Zupreem is the best!!! I feed it and would never feed anything else.
