If you look up "Arrested Development - New Yorker Panel" and find the video by PopsugarTV it has a really annoying clip explaining, but they said enough episodes to do 1 for each character as a recap to where they've been/what they've been doing and a final episode to help lead them into the movie.

Will Arnett said this was his favorite part of the whole series. When David Cross came out in his cut-offs, it wasn't part of the script. So when you see Gob laughing all creepy-like and bending over, that's not Will in character, that's genuine.
