Yes but potential is usually associated with young people. Having the potential to be a good musican is something you'd say about someone maybe half Marr's age. And Marr already used his 'potential' so to speak, in The Smiths, he fulfilled his potential, he won't ever better what he did with The Smiths.

Fair point, totally agree with you. It was completely narrow-minded of me to say Marr's talents are finished; Marr may not be over. But he did do amazing stuff with The Smiths, and unless he teams up with Morrissey and Co again, I don't think he could ever top it.
