  • Nice reactions to the hater-comments :P

Because of the somewhat bad quality of the vid's sound, this actually didn't make clear which one is better, in my opinion ;)

  • nice demo dude - youtube certainly is full of bedroom warriors who claim to be the best guitarists in the world. Someone tries to help others by demoing amps people might be interested in and you have a go at him for it??? Leave the guy alone you jealous people. Some of the hating in the comments below is plain embarrasing for the people who wrote it.

  • I agree with the one hater that said you do not deserve so much gear,,, I thnk none of those amps are designed to play metal,,,, it sound´s terrible,,,,, you got the mesa with a horrible EQ,

  • I came here to learn about the Subway Rocket and this gave me what I was looking for. Nice playing and demo. Haters, you gargle on goat-nut.

  • i dont get why this vid get's so much shit! i mean come on it's not that bad!

  • I dont see how you can argue metal like that, newer metal and older metal are almost different genres. I dont see how u can argue different genres. This is about amps anyways not playing, or anying. And whoever said theyre the guitarist for Kings of leon im callin BS cause bands that are that large wont diss any kids cause they cant be dicks or nobody will listen to them. Plus they have too much goin on to care. I thought it was good playing. And to what this is supposed to be about I liked the

  • hair metal was 20 years ago.

  • tuning your guitar before you record a vid is a hard task isn't it? :P

  • Why is everyone hating on this kid? He's just showing the difference between the two amps, which is helpful. I own the Mesa and have been looking at Orange.

@kingd117x: Your playing is really not that bad. If you work with a metronome consistently for 1/2 hour a day for the next couple of months, you'll become wicked good.

  • i dont usually hate on videos, but come on. seriously. tell mommy and daddy to go buy you a Ferrari while there at it. i envy your spoiledness. you do not deserve that much gear. do me and the 12,498 other people that watched this video a favor and take some fucking guitar lessons. trust me, lessons work, im the lead guitarist for kings of leon. my brother wanted to hear the difference between the two amps. sorry if i hurt your feelings we've been drinking since this morning.

  • @jboy3030

First, go fuck yourself. This is what happens when you pull a 4.02 GPA and go to public college. You become fucking loaded. Something you don't know shit about.

Second, go fuck yourself. Read the description, if you can, this video is old as fuck. And the Kings of Leon suck as much cock as Nickelback, you smurfdicked gomer.

Third, I have a Orange Rockerverb 50, with a 1960 marshall lead 4x12, and a Fender USA Custom Strat, with the Jackson RR5 now. Be jealous of that, fucktard.

  • @xkingd117x 4.2 GPA and you can't tune a fucking guitar?? sorry make that 2 guitars lol

  • @jboy3030 dude you are fuckin retarded!... maybe he's not the best guitarist in the world but he's still alot better than you! fuckin prick!

  • godm this is one the most beautiful guitars ever. I love this Jackson.

  • This is a video comparing two amps, not a who can be the biggest douche contest.

  • so much amp for you

  • @triviummusician

....coming from "Trivium Musician", basically a shitty Metallica cover band, I'm not too hurt by that.

What are you, 12? Learn your fucking history of metal before you talk shit about bands that Trivium themselves have said they're influenced by, you illiterate piece of shit.

  • @xkingd117x ...God bless you, sir.

  • @xkingd117x you must not know enough about trivium if you consider them a shitty metallica cover band

  • @triviummusician hahaha trivium sux ass, old school metallica and maiden rock

  • Mesa Heads blow! IMO!

    go with marshalls.

Like a 800 or a 900 with some pedals into the FX loop. Thats the way to go IMO. Get as analog as you can! Mesa uses a digital chip to boost the gain... So do the 900s!

    JCM 800 2203!

  • i like the 2nd amp with the rhoads the breast!

the mesa is too muddy and the notes are blurred.

The orange is killer! The JVM410h is great...If you have it modded with a choke and a noise gate, otherwise its too unclear!

  • i like the 2nd amp with the rhoads the breast!

the mesa is too muddy and the notes are blurred.

    The orange is killer!

  • screamo crap? GO FUCK YOURSELF

  • @6stringedkillah

    Don't be so butthurt, Jesus.

    Cry moar pl0x.

  • btw so called screamo is just as musical just the singing puts people off and actuly takes more skill

  • @dizzygunner

Skill =/= talent =/= enjoyable music, at least to my ears.

    Music is subjective.

  • @xkingd117x Listen to Dance Gavin Dance. If thats not musical to you, then you're completely biased.

  • @dizzygunner No it doesn't.

What a deeply stupid thing to say.

  • @Cokeylata ok no its not u try screaming for 20 years and not fuck ur vocal chords up u have to get it from the diafram like a fucking opra singer moron

  • @dizzygunner actually, singing in that manner from the diaphragm only serves to project the voice (atleast with this style of vocals). There's a technique used further up the esophagus akin to gargling which is the preferred method to perform those types of vocals without causing damage to the throat or vocal chords.

    ...Moron.

Also, all the guitarists in these screamo nonsense bands, which I believe is the point the creator of this video was getting it, suck two tonnes of cock.

  • @Cokeylata hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! u make me laugh post a vids of u playing i dunno say lmab of god?arch enemy? canibal corps then and dont ask me back coz im not the one saying its piss easy cock bite

  • @dizzygunner Lamb of God, Arch enemy and Cannibal corpse, while all fucking dreadful are not in any way screamo bands. You should really look up what the term means.

Worth pointing out that it's not some kind of ultimate test of your musicianship, seeing what the most complex piece of someone elses music is that you can play (something most asipiring guitarists would do well to learn). Try looking into composition sometime, bro.

  • @Cokeylata yeah i get wat you mean but it still takes more skill than three chords or just plam mute palm mute power chord

  • How is the Mesa at bedroom volumes?

  • why?

  • sell both and get a USED single rectifier or rectoverb

that will get a better sound than both for METAL

  • I think the mesa seems to do a better job I own the subway rocket and want to try the tiny terror since everyone seems to rant and rave about it..

  • Zep was metal before metal even existed. Whole Lotta Love? Duh! Good Times Bad Times? I'm 53 and have seen the beginnings and first albums( yes albums!) of the earliest bands. Back in the day--there was ROCK and you could be anything you wanted. Now, everyone wants to POSE and subcategorize and can;t even aprreciate each others music! The Orange sounds best.

  • the palm mutes sound better on the mesa boogie, but overall sound i'd say the jackson with the orange was the best combo

  • Nice Jackson. Is that American made?

  • @supermarine67

The RR5 is Japanese made, unfortunately. However, the quality is still top notch, if it was American made, it probably would cost $2500+ anyway.

  • 2:53 MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanx!!! cool video!

  • orange sounds so much better, beefier and more versatile tone. Mesas are great but for the kind of tone i like orange is far better. i like the clean gain and not so dirty...

  • The Mesa is not as thick, but its a little more articulate. But really, if you play super clean and pick with aggression, the Orange really snarls. The midrange of the Orange is more ideal for a band, it lets you pop out of the mix more. The Orange has all the gain you really need, if you feel there isnt enough gain, you arent playing heavy enough. Too much gain=fuzzy mess anyways, lower gain is cleaner and tighter. Just my opinion. My vote- Orange or run them in stereo :)

  • yeah i agree i have a rockerverb 100 and everything sounds beautiful when played around it i put all my effects through it i dont even want to use the effects loop it sounds so good i have a Wh1 whammy to a morley bad horsey to a boss ce5 chorus to a boss ph3 phaser to a boss bf3 flanger to a EBS tremelo and lastly to a eventide digital delay putting all the effects on blows up my brain

  • @ GrowTheCaine

Thats a lot of effects haha. My chain consists of a guitar and an amp. I don't use any effects to keep my sound as pure as possible.

  • well hearing a lot of gilmour and nirvana made me want to get the phaser and chorus flanger was of course van halen jack white and tom morello are the reason i use the whammy and hearing big wreck and pink floyd made me want delay and i dont know why i use the morley way i guess i just like wah so much i just got it lol i love guitar i mean I LOVE GUITAR.......a lot

  • Hahaha.

Way to comment on a video that's just short of a year old.

    Oh, it stings.

  • @xkingd117x lol nice comeback ..but ya

  • there both awesome... but i like the orange because its more versatile for what i play.. and yes DETHKLOK! butal

  • practice with a metronome it wull help ur playing uber bunches

  • good on ya, all this screamo stuff is a load of crap!

  • that jackson is a sick guitar

  • Mesa by a long shot for me man!

  • I know the Mesa uses a 10" speaker, but what size cab did you have hooked up to the Tiny Terror?

  • wow. Tiny Terror kicks the boogies ass!

  • maybe my style, but actually thought the mesa sounded betta.

  • sweet vid. and sweet guitar

  • why is this reversed?

  • kickass guitar.. tt is a sick tube amp. just work on your alternate picking! either way youredoing guud

  • I like the mesa !

  • Comment removed

  • btw, the SG + OTT combo is the shiznit

  • Like the gain on the OTT better, actually. Better harmonics, more rich tone. The Boogie sounds like it's got bunk tubes.

Your playing is good, too hard on yourself. Considering you probably don't do it for a living, I thought it was fine.

I think given the choice, I'd choose the Terror.

  • Next time TUNE IT BOY!

  • Thanks for the video.

  • i prefer that orange.

Rocker 30 all the way though!

  • sg and tiny terror.

  • Probably best if you played the same song to compare. =)

  • zeppelins not metal... sorry.

  • Im aware they're not by today's standards. But its debatable, either way.

Either way, as I said in the description, this was like the 10th time I tried recording in a row. I know the playing sucks, and i sound like a tool. I'm just trying to get input on the sounds of the amps.

  • yes it is debatable none the less... anyway it really depends on what type of (metal) music you are playing, if your playing like 80's metal (maiden, black sabbath, or some zeppelin) then i would go with the Orange, primarily b.c its probably the most 'Bristish' sounding type of amp on the market. On the contrary Mesa Boogies are VERY american sounding, so based on what your playing i'd go with the orange... sorry for the long comment.

  • Agree that if you are playing early metal, especially the British stuff, the Orange is the way to go. The Mesa is more forward while the Orange has a more classic British sound. I do, however, think you need to play with the tone control on the Orange. It sounded nasal and upper-midrangey compared to the Mesa. When I play through a Tiny Terror I've found that I need to put the tone control about 11:00 to keep the low end balanced with the highs. (at least for my guitar and my playing style).

  • dude buy some straplock for the sg! he almost flipped out of ya hands

  • All that speed metal crap? That same guitar your playing is/was used by phil demmel

  • it's a rhoads signature so i don't think he did speed metal.

and it can be used for it but it isn't his signature i think he has one now based on this one black with blood red bevels and a floyd rose and emg

  • my guitar teacher has a mesa boogie subwat rocket it sounds amazing for lamb of god/ pantera heavyness

  • children of bahdom ^.^

    thass funny

  • ye i liked that sound it will do metallica i also play other metal my main influences are kirk hammet james hetfield zakk wylde randy rhoads jimi hendrix and s.r.v so i also play some blues and also red hot chili peppers sometimes.

  • uhm i think it will be cuz i like amp heads and second the mesa is quite hard to find on ebay or anywhere else and the TT is easier so i think it will be the TT (buy it in a year i think so gonn emigrate so not now maybe volts change)

  • i like orange becuase it is quite affordable and i could hook it up with a cheap 1x10 or 1x12 cab so i can save up for a biiger one.

    just bought an other guitar.

  • The Orange is affordable.. the head was $400, and the cab was $250, which isn't too bad at all.

The Mesa was actually cheaper, the combo was around $480 dollars. I got a pretty good deal on that though.

So price wise, they're pretty similar. Which is why my main concern is just how they sound. Thanks!

  • ok i like the tt there is something with it its small portable and good

  • second do you think the TT will handle metallica style of metal AND NOT bitchy screamo ?

  • Yeah... they're both small and portable. Size, weight, all of that are about the exact same. The only difference is the sound, and the fact the Orange is a head and a cab.

As far as handling metallica, the video shows me playing Battery by Metallica... I think its the first song I play on the Orange with the RR5. Use that as an indicator.

I personally think the Mesa is better for Metallica, but you do get a nice deep throaty sound out of the orange.. its a tough call. Hence, why I made this.

  • is the mesa tube?

  • I have a orange tiny terror. but not a cab yet. thinking of getting a 2 x 12. Or building one myself.

  • Def. not a bad idea. 2x12 is about the biggest i'd go though, if you try to run it through a 4x12, it starts to sound a little too thin. I tried a few other cabs at the store, but this was the the best for the money.

  • i vote the mesa

  • Hey bro, nice playing. I'm leaning towards the Orange because it's voiced a bit more throaty. With that said, the Mesa sounds good too, but for me and my style of playing, I'd tweak the eq for a bit warmer / bassier sound. Join as at our guitar message forum Gear-Monkey (dot) com.
