I read that there have been possibly hundreds of songs created using this same melody. Some of them, which you can listen to on youtube, include The Old Orange Flute; Villikins and his Dinah; There was an Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe; Bluey Brink; Thíos Cois Na Trá Dom
@utoobuser101 I'm implying that the melodies of "Sweet Betsy" and "The Old Orange Flute" sound very similar. I wonder if one of the melodies was "borrowed" from the other.

This tune reminds me of the Irish folk song "The Old Orange Flute".

Very nice. I don't know any other folk song that makes reference to
divorce: This Pike County couple got married, of course, But Ike became jealous, and obtained a divorce. Betsy, well-satisfied, said with a shout,
"Goodby, you big lummox, I'm glad you backed out!"
But you know how folks songs are. Lottsa variations.
If you like Singing Cowboys see the book w/ the same name
by Douglas Green. R. Allen is in it.
Tnx 4 the melodic post.
