  • I love the live videos of this. It's really quiet and nobody's moving or anything and then at the "LIKE A BAT I FLUSHED THE GIRL" bit the entire audience freaks out and screams along. 'tis badass.

  • it's all about 4:30

  • 02:50 DAT RIFF SON

  • I used to like Slint but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @trampcode513 I SEE THIS STUPID COMMENT ON EVERY FUCKING VIDEO PLEASE FUCK OFF

  • I used to like gogolplex74 but then I took an arrow in the knee.

  • @trampcode513 WTF is i took an arrow to the knee!!!!

  • May I just say, dont judge the quality of a song by its hits. Im liking this as much as breadcrumb and good morning

  • STOP PUTTING EVERYTHING UNDER GENRES IT'S FUCKING MUSIC JUST LISTEN TO IT.

  • Man this band is almost mythical. Brilliant music but where are they now? Huge influence on my music making. HUGE

  • so good. math rock at its best! yay! : )

  • My favorite off of spiderland. Simply brilliant.

  • imma learn that intro!!

  • incredible song, i dont know so much about slint's influences, but i guess they've listened king crimson , specially larks tongues in aspic part II

try to listen larks tongues in aspic part ii and you will see the look-alike

  • @progreadicto Definitely, long time Crimso fan here.

  • nice one, GrungeRock1991. way to break it down! so good!

  • @qwatto Sorry, but Slint had NOTHING to do with "grunge". I will concede that this song is their most "math-rock" besides "Glenn".

  • I think I have a new favorite band

  • Just in case anyone's interested, 'nosferatu' is an old Romanian word for 'vampire'. The lyrics fit the theme, with mentions of castles and teeth etc.

    Great song also

  • Wtf, Spiderland and Loveless are way better than Nevermind.

    Now i proudly know that.

  • @Regentzable Spiderland is 10 times the album that Loveless and Nevermind would be combined.

  • @GrungeRock1991 eh, i like em all

  • @StudioScarecrow Yeah, me too. Believe me I ain't hating on any of them. I'm just saying Spiderland is a masterpiece. :)

  • @Regentzable Slanted & Enchanted is better than all 3. I think that might have been '92, though.

  • @TheEnchantingWizard1 I think S+E beats Nevermind and Loveless hands down, but I don't think it's even in the same league as Spiderland. Crooked Rain, I may have to give to you.

  • @Regentzable nevermind was better as a rock-n-roll album, Spiderland and Loveless better as a art-rock albums.

  • ED has this all wrong.

This isn't indie thrash; this is grunge in its most unadulterated.

  • grandi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Louisville Artcore!!!!!

  • Wow! genio-macchine-creative-pregrunge... Dei maestri...

  • Brilliant track.

  • Aaaaaaaaaaah, Pajo plays, plays very goooood

    I love him

  • This sounds pretty cool.

  • Pretty boring I think Ill stick with the math rock masters like Creed and Avenged Sevenfold.

  • @MikeLamb24 Haha, neither of those guys are anything like math rock. And Creed are fucking exceptionally preachy, hideous and completely irrelevant.

    I don't dig A7X but they're not appalling I guess.

  • @sattfield

lol @ caring about your music's "relevancy." But you're right on all other counts.

  • @MikeLamb24 lol wut

  • @MikeLamb24 creed! math rock! you gotta be kidding me!

  • @MikeLamb24 Hahahahhaa! Creed!

  • @MikeLamb24

    sniff sniff

    I smell a troll.

  • @MikeLamb24 ROTFLMAOPIMP

  • @MikeLamb24

    I lol'd, but still, 0/10.

  • @MikeLamb24 i lol'd

  • Is this the band that dave pajo is in?

  • @iceravenVI yeah dave was in it since the start. I had the honour of meeting and staying with some of these guys for a couple months back in 96. Slint were broken up for some 5 years by that point but Brian and Britt still worked together in The For Carnation. All really awesome, friendly, generous people. Not to mention fucking talented.

  • @iceravenVI Yes, he is the person on the right in the picture.

  • Anyone else find out about this band from Questionable Content? Lol.

  • hehehehe jakie pedałki , pewnie za chwile sie ruchali , a pod woda na pewno smyrają sie i stąd ten zaciesz

  • Drumming is sick

  • @myownservant

one of the most overlooked drummers in rock history as far as im concerned. brilliant restraint and subtlety, but explosive when he needs to be. absolutely fantastic

  • hey, if you are that dude I was just talking to on chatroulette, send me that link again. I didn't get it.

  • that piercing guitar is a musicgasm.

  • Thank you for putting this up. It takes me back :)

  • I think it says "eyelids are opened when the sun is high, I slipped away from my queen's grey stare".

  • When I was in highschool some friends and I took some girls to that quarry @ night and went skinny-dipping ;]

  • Happy I discovered this band concretely and the style in general.

  • when rock used to rock....nowadays there's a lot of crap even underground, to much pose and all that crap i just don't get....bravo, slint and all your legacy.

  • this song makes my speakers happy!!

  • @Narniak69 I like that phrase. :)

  • love love love <3

  • There is a really fucking great underground hip-hop song called "No Image" by Holocaust (prod. by Blue Sky Black Death) which uses Nosferatu as the video...

    /watch?v=E-_tKgbe-SI

    I highly highly recommend it.

  • @beingonehiphop that has nothing to do with slint. no one cares.

  • fuck this is just the biggest masterpiece to be swept under the rug

  • I get this song stuck in my head all the time. I was travelling across town and had it playing over and over on my iPod. Wish I could have heard this live.

  • math

    o0

    -v-

  • I'm surprised they have this album on itunes.

  • Really like this song. At 1st i was like WTF is this? but sometimes you've just gotta give it a few plays and it really does stand out from some repetitive crap i've heard.

  • this tune gets real goos at 3:13.

  • really creepy, thats why i love it,

  • Yeah, it's 5/4

  • this song is epic...

    from 2.50 it's the best

  • Comment removed

  • nice :)

  • I got into Slint around the same time I first saw George Romero's "Martin" for me this song and the film are forever entwined! Especially with such lyrics as

    "i can be settled down

i can be doing just fine

til i hear that old train

    rollin down the line".

  • @TheKnittingKitten thats hank williams

  • I thought the lyric was, "I slink away from my queen's/weary stare" (or were-y stair or what you will).

  • I'm getting this album simple because of how unique it is.

  • what an insult

  • smt is wrong here...

  • äh?

  • omg this is art, fuck im happy that i found out this great music today.

  • @SimplyShadow Art that can sneak by on the radio and make people a little more aware of music.

Well, beats Owl City, I guess.

  • @SimplyShadow me too man, was super stoked when I found this

  • @SimplyShadow Yes. This and Loveless. Why is it that they are always talked about together?

  • can anybody tell me what the time signature is on this?

  • 10/8 I think.

  • 5/4

  • From 0:05 it's in 5/4.

This goes on until 1:05 when it switches to 6/4.

At 1:30 it goes back into 5/4, going back into the 6/4 chorus at 2:17.

At 2:49 it goes into standard 4/4.

At 3:13 it hits 5/4 again and stays so until 3:45 and it returns to 4/4.

At 4:36 the song hits 6/4 again and remains so until the end of the song.

Sorry if you didn't want the WHOLE song transcribed for you, but in case you did and for everyone else to look at it, here it is.

  • thank you muchly kinds sir.

  • you are absolutely welcome my friend.

  • @GrungeRock1991

Yes, it must be art if there are tempo variations, for you see this basic musical artifice -albeit ignored by many- indicates craftsmanship beyond basic pop music sensibility.

  • @RazvanGrozny there are plenty of great songs which are plain 4/4. there are many great songs with weird tempo signatures. both can be enjoyed and I don't see how one should be superior to the other. complexity can be about the texture of the melody or the layers of sound instead of the tempo variations. or there can be no obvious complexity, but yet very simple songs can be masterpieces too. there can also be very complex music which is crap. enjoy diversity!

  • @useless987 right on

  • @GrungeRock1991 very nice.

  • @GrungeRock1991 so glad you posted this! really slick. good analysis! such a good song. well structured!

  • @GrungeRock1991 what's up with all the 4's?

  • @jerh7806 What do you mean what's up with all the 4s? Those are the time signatures (and they're correct).

  • I love all of Tool's stuff, and have for years, but now I'm trying to find more progressive bands that use irregular time signatures. Preferably progressive metal like Tool, but I have hope in Slint. I only now just found them, but I'm liking the sound of it.

  • Better get your hopes up about their future works. They are saying there is a new album in the works from Slint.

  • Shadwickman, check out Primus (Eleven, Year of the Parrot, Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread) or Mr. Bungle (My Ass is on Fire, Egg, Platypus). And the first part of Providence from Godspeed You Black Emperor's F#A# is in 7/8.

  • I've listened to quite a few songs from Primus and I love 'em, and I have heard of (but never listened to) Godspeed You Black Emperor, and I have neither heard, nor heard of Mr Bungle.

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll make sure to give those a listen.

  • My favourite Slint song.

And Tool haven't made a bad album either.

I've fully gone through the ether listening to this...

Can anyone recommend any other post rock bands? Trans am...

  • fucking song gives me this frustrated feeling. it's so intense, and so good. dsiovjpjsvpjsvpjsvpiohmbngfnavgg

  • sick, sick band

  • My kind of band!!

  • One day i found a hoodie i had never seen before in my laundry. It was a slint hoodie. I finally thought about listening to them to see if wearing the hoodie was a misrepresentation of my musical taste...im definantly glad i have that slint hoodie now.

  • If sounds amazing on just a computer... hearing this music on vinyl might just cause a major orgasm.

  • I have this album on vinyl. It is fucking mind blowing.

  • Lucky you =/

  • Haha more like lucky find! I already had a copy of Ultramega OK on vinyl by Soundgarden right in my hand, and I was going to look for one more. I was already flipping my shit over my first great find, and then I saw Spiderland behind a couple o' shitty records and snatched that shit right then and there. Those albums remain two of my favorite vinyls. But nothing will replace my 1968 edition of the White Album haha.

  • Like a bat I flushed the girl!

And I flew out my back door!

  • Pretty groovy. I heard about this band from the e-comic Questionable Content.

  • That's funny, it was while reading QC when I encountered their name for the first time, too.

  • Fuck yeah, I've been learning of all kinds of craziness thanks to QC, especially of some pretty good indie bands.

  • This is their first piece I've ever heard. Purely brilliant.

"I set a fire burning and I railed on through the night"

  • Amazing.

  • the spoken words are the best, it fits the music so well

  • listen to Washer, it will change your opinion on their spoken word... :)

    hope you like em

  • Slint is just one of those bands that you get or you don't...I mean, if you like them or you don't like them that's really your own perogative but there's really no reason to 'try' to like them.

When I first heard them I was blown away this album was a turning point for me musically.

  • I loved these guys. Still do aparently. Some of it makes me think of Half Japanese (early).

    Subterranean release?

  • amazing song!! slint! is one of the best band on the planet!...

  • wow...i love this

  • This Is!

  • this is sick.

  • luhvile paho big macmuahham tersvet yom nuch peathe fres iao lap dink juan deruaosxz lox loie uk varh macj huu i///z.;;ztiyuc jdidkvjdoirujeis

  • geogaddi08 could you post washer, don aman, and for dinner from the album

  • So fucking good. Man do I miss them

  • heavy

  • I concur.

  • What are the odds I would encounter you on youtube. This is your brother, Eric. Spiderland is a masterpiece. Taradactyl has the same hypnotic and original sound these guys do. You're live performances are polished. The guy that owns Solaris in GSO loved it. Keep creating, and get some management. Jason Garnett and I discovered this gem of an EP when we had our radio show at WIUS in 1991. I still love it 17 years later.

  • what are the odds two? i am your EVIL TWIN MUAHAHAHA!!!

  • Pouring through my soul

    I come across a match

    but it is caught

against a long ago's one night stands snatch

I finger but cannot find it

I thought I had the spot

    but gee no avail

Hail stop me from setting sail

  • My favourite Slint song. :-D
