  • What type of glass did they use for this project?

And how many pieces of glass did they tape together?

If someone could respond that would be awesome, since i plan on making a coffee table and i need the information, to know how many pieces of glass to buy.

  • @Andrew13301 They took one sheet of tempered glass, covered the edges with gaff tape, and struck a nail into one edge (in that order.)

  • @Andrew13301 You need at least three pieces of tempered glass of equal dimensions to pull this off. The three pieces are layered and held snugly together. The tape will suffice, but a wooden frame would make a much nicer table imho. Make sure the interior surfaces are clean, as you will never be able to clean them again. Once all is set, drive a small nail into the middle piece of glass only. The outer pieces of glass will contain the shards from the broken middle piece.

  • @Kimano You only need one pane of tempered glass. When broken from the side, only one layer shatters. The other layers remain intact.

  • @E1craZ4life Tempered glass does not have layers. Driving a nail into the edge of a single piece of tempered glass will shatter it all over the floor (watch this video, watch?v=eqV5W76U8Qg). You need to sandwich the shattered pane between two other panes of tempered glass to make a functional table.

  • @Kimano They didn't use a nail or gaff tape.

  • @E1craZ4life Did you even watch the video? Both the gaff tape and the nail are specifically mentioned.

  • @Kimano Yes. I watched it. I'm sure I would notice if he used a nail and/or gaff tape.

  • @E1craZ4life I would honestly love to see you post a video of a single piece of tempered glass with its edge wrapped in gaff tape and struck by a nail break like you say it should. If you can do that, I will reimburse you the cost of the glass.

  • tempered glass is NOT used in car windshields. It is used in the door glass and the back window. The windshield is laminated plate glass.

  • and thats how robbers break into your car

  • @leonardohurtado2002 your comment makes no sense. when do robbers tape up my hardened glass window and smash it on the edge? How do you even hit any window in a car at the edge when they are put into frames.

  • @FREENAMEFTW you dont get the point they use a cscrew driver or something else to brake the glass

  • @leonardohurtado2002 I dont know what a cscrew is... but in this video they use a hammer and a nail. Drugs are bad son.

  • @FREENAMEFTW can we just stop talking about that and im 9 so stop talking about that and what i ment to say was they use a hammer nail or a baseball bat to brake into your car and get your gps or somethin' else like cds

  • Is it true that glass cracks at 8000 mph?, or is it a myth.

  • pk that is a laminate not just tempered glass. the glue layer holds the glass together to the unbroken layer. i have made 200 tables out of old sliding glass doors like this. gaff tape is not the same as duct tape. one is plastic and one is fabric. this is old news

  • @wph1138 yeah if it was only tempered the pieces would fly away anyways.

  • Dude! I want that table!

  • My job is: Tempering glass and I say this is NOT NEW information about the tempering glass.

  • Well done you just gave all the criminals watching this edvice on how to break into a car-_-

  • that's a badass table

  • Would love to see the hammer impact in super slow mo.

  • somehow I think if I attempted what they did, I would have a floor full of shattered glass... just sayin' o.O

  • WOW!!

  • bad acting... bitching outcome!!!

  • nice decoration

  • so cool but krazy

  • time warp is so cool

  • What was that song the guy was playing at the start on the guitar?

  • such a badly faked fall =P

  • not used in windshields... thats laminated

but it is used for the windows

  • @aplauchegmail it is used in windshield its still tempered glass but only with a laminate over it as added protection from glass going everywhere

  • @kinstar

actually all windshields have three layers. You have a glass in the inside and a another glass on the outside. Both of these sandwich a strong vinyl called PVB (poly Vinyl butry), windshields are not tempered whatsoever. if they were they would shatter into many tiny fragments not develop cracks. the passenger windows are tempered for emergency escape. try using a window punch on the windshield and it will not work because it is not tempered glass. i should know, i've broken both.

  • @aplauchegmail right you are, they aren't the smartest bunch on time warp lol

  • wau best!!!

  • I want one :)

  • face at 0:47

  • wow thats amazing

  • @jfull1991

It is 3 different pieces of glass taped together

They just broke the center piece

  • is it 3 different pieces of glass? like is the broken one in between 2 other pieces? or is the glass laminated?

  • @jfull1991 nope laminated is a piece of plastic or something rubber in between the two piece of glass

  • Cool! Maybe I'll get one for my room!

  • i'm pretty sure there is laminate on both sides of the galss, isn't there?

  • cool!

  • hey I'm ganna do that with my coffee table!

  • that's what they use for TV stands. the bad thing is it still sags/bows

  • hmmm i want to try this im gonna make a desk

  • wheres the rest of the episode?

  • haha crazy :D

  • pretty SICK!

  • wow 3 comments

  • what kind of tape did they use?

  • Gaff Tape, cloth tape similar to duct tape (used by Audio/Video/lighting profeesionals) but it sticks better and doesn't leave the gooey residue when removed. the good stuff sells for about $15-20 a roll.

  • @4soundman omg someone who knows what their talking about.

  • @PicoriPi They're.
