  • that poor lost Terrapin

  • He drank a LOT before narrating in Blade Runner.

  • also I've never seen anyone else make letterman their bitch like Harrison does.

  • He has a very aloof demeanor which is very unintentionally humours on Harrison's part; it really makes me grin a lot.

  • he's so hot T_____T

  • HARRISON FORD. BEST ACTOR EVER.

  • Comment removed

  • Now THIS is a real star. A real actor, as opposed to all the pretty faces today. All looks and no substance.

  • These faces are pure comedy, did not know that about him.

  • The fact that he's shy just makes him more awesome.

  • He's a much kinder, gentler Harrison Ford these days. To watch him on Letterman now is a riot. Much like when Charles Grodin would appear on Johnny Carson. He's mellowed a lot in his old age.

  • I feel so awkward. Couldn't even watch the whole thing

  • He's so awkward and funny.

  • He has to be a pothead

  • he's always nervous/awkward in interviews. he has said that he's uncomfortable around people. he has always been an extremely shy, quiet person and also has anxiety. that's his personality. he just has the ability to convincingly portray characters that are completely different from himself. he is able to play characters like Han Solo and Indy even though he's nothing like that at all. that's what makes him a great actor. it takes real talent to play someone who's nothing like you.

  • He is shy .Do you see

  • right after we pause for intermission.

  • An very entertaining interview from early on in Harrison Ford's career regarding his acting role on the bleak science fiction classic Blade Runner : "It's no musical comedy" :)

  • Harrison Shot First.

  • Set 40 years in the future... wait... that like... now!

  • 'But seriously, what's in your Bank Account?'

  • "Hey Harrison, Blade Runner is going to be the most influential science fiction film ever made."

    "What?"

    Lol

  • he looks so hot there

  • I wonder if he knew these movies would be awesome.

  • @hikethis2011 He owns several aircraft, and even a helicopter. He pilots them all as a hobby, and for travel. He's one hell of an actor in the right rolls, and unless you know carpentry, don't knock it till you try it. What do you do with your high iq?

  • This is episode #78 on June 22, 1982.

  • Comment removed

  • I like how he responds to that one random clap. :P

  • comes across as mildly retarded. acting or carpentry i guess dont require high iq

  • @hikethis2011 I think thats just how he is. Hes not stupid or else he'd have spent all his money by now. Hes just quiet, and says very little. A man of few words.

  • @hikethis2011 youre coming off as mildly retarded. How can you not see that he's not interested in being there? High IQ in all it's glory, social retardation must be a bitch

  • Man, I saw this interview, and I thought Harrison Ford was going to tear off Letterman's head.

  • they almost show the end of blade runner...damn that sucks if you have not seen it

  • Ford is so serious. it's rare to see actors like these this day. real men, gentlemen

  • Anyone notice the transitions? A camera crew in the background with a small turtle beside a ring of fire

  • TV back then was more sophisticated on the whole...on the whole.

  • What kind of silly faces are those?!

  • "It's no musical comedy David."

  • 3:44

  • He's actually 40 years old here.HA

  • Chemical Preparation

  • Hi, my name is Harrison Ford and I have diabetes and a lisp.

  • not here, not...

    ...with you

  • BLADE RUNNER is an Illuminati Movie, showing us what our future is going to be Like

  • BLADE RUNNER GOOD MOVIE

  • he reminds me of Steve Martin or Steve reminds me of Harry...

  • Man, Dave really is out of his element here as a young career. He acts so nervous.

  • so what the world will look like in 40 years ? It's no a musical comedy....too right :)

  • He looks like a king with that suit

  • harrison doesn't suffer fools...

  • He's on Letterman. You assholes would all be nervous too.

  • Harrison is very very very intelligent

  • u can tell hes not a big fan of blade runner

  • excellent actor... love his movies...but goddamn is he boring.

  • This is a guy who spent 10 years as a full-time carpenter & part-time actor, raising kids, dealing with reality, probably losing sleep about whether he'd gotten the "Gunsmoke" job & wondering where the hell his career was going... and then, "Star Wars". At age 35. Suddenly this inherently moody guy with a cynical attitude towards showbiz (can you blame him?) is the biggest star on Earth, nobody will leave him alone, and he just wants to do his job & get the hell home. That's Harrison Ford.

  • @alexmortland EXACTLY.

  • @alexmortland Well put. I concur.

  • @alexmortland noboby gives a shit

  • @nbmp80 Noboby?

  • @alexmortland yes, sorry

  • @nbmp80 Noboby?

  • @nbmp80 Nobody? Only you.

  • I LOVE YOU FORD

  • HeeHee!! He is Soooo adorable in this footage.Awe,..feels safe with David.

  • He's on Letterman again at this very minute.

  • You can see Letterman give him the finger at 6:32.

  • He's cagey and cautious, and rightly so. When you're that famous, people use you, take advantage of you, mis-quote you, and tend to eat up your personal life and identity if you let them. I admire his commitment to his own sanity, though that comes off as blunt.

  • damn he fine

  • If you are not afraid, check this new horror film called "STRANGE ROOMS" at strangerooms website, very creepy and scary. It is about strange haunting at one old and eerie quiet apartment in Hollywood, CA.

  • This was almost as awkward as the Joaquim Phoenix interview.

  • @invasionsend Well, the Phoenix interview was staged though, so.

  • @SleazyMovieProd What in the world makes you think that was staged? Has he done anything of substance since? Seen him in a movie? On TV? Releasing any music?

  • @invasionsend Check his 2010 Letterman interview.

  • He seems to be a bit mentally challenged, I guess he has low IQ:

  • @Hermoor Oh come on dude, there's no way he could have played all the characters he played and be stupid. It's just that doing interviews and public appearances takes him out of his element.

  • @Hermoor This is what mentally challenged looks like to you? I'm guessing you've never met anyone who actually is mentally challenged.

  • LOL 40 years from now.

    NOPE!

  • lol classic harrison this is the best interview i have ever seen

  • Ford's so-called understated low-key humor is rather overplayed and condescending if you ask me. I suppose it's some kind of defense mechanism.

  • Ford, Hanks and *Weaver are my 3 favorite actor's ever. *Weaver replaces Gibson after his phonecall ordeal, prick.

  • Hats off to Harrison Ford.He is the legendary Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

  • Harrison Ford is one of my favourite actors. Good seeing this footage.

  • I think that's Ford's personality. He moved to Hollywood in the 60's to try his hand at acting, but he made more money as a carpenter which was his occupation for 8 or 10 years until he was selected for Star Wars in 1976. He made his first million dollars after that became a success in 1977, forcing him on to the world scene. He went from a nobody actor to a leading man in 1 year. He still retains his humble origins.

  • @rephaim23 He actually went to California to do radio voice overs.

  • @avschase

Yeah. And his acting career started when he was 24, and he was like hardly even given credit for the bit pieces he played. Even for Star Wars he was given $ 10,000 to take the part of Han Solo, and then given 1/4th of 1 percent of the profits and royalties of the film, so had Star Wars been a dud, he may still be building cabinets and framing houses.

  • lol david letterman looks funny

  • Comment removed

  • this shit is dated, whoa.

  • seems kinda uptight in reality, but he plays his characters so well that you have no idea how he is until you see an interview like this.

  • Its Like he's still Rick Deckard in this interview.

  • Letterman isn't the best interviewer, very satirical, the only time his interviews are worth anything is when he interviews political figures, there is no real depth to his interviews with the big movie and music stars, Ford is a legend and always will be, I love his dis - ease on this interview, very humble and warming to see.

  • Man, Letterman is a nerdy mofo, why would anyone like being asked questions by this giggly bird? why are you suprised Harrison is not comfortable?

  • Harrison Ford makes Chuck Norris look like Paul Lynde's house boy.

  • @SpiritMolecule1 what the fuck are you talking about, he is fucking indiana jones and han solo, he is a legend!!

  • Harrison always seems to be a standup guy and never snaped at his fans from what I ever heard. I don't think he got on with early Dave and as much as I love David Letterman, look how he's conducting his interview. Head resting in hand like he's incredibly bored and could care less. Then again, I watched Harrison on Dave once when he just sat there with his armes folded as if he didn't even want to be bothered with Dave. Either way, Harrison seems like a guy you wouldn't mind hanging with.

  • He is so hot omg ♥

  • 82??? guauu

  • is that dead animal on dave's head?

  • he looks very sincere,no doubt about that

  • coolest guy ever

  • He was actually 40 years old in this!! ha

  • @jerm26554

40 years old? Wow, he looks about 28!!

  • Jeez, I watched this like 20 times, at least. I love Harrison Ford! He's the shit. Fuckin' awesome!

  • wat a terrible clip to play from such an awesome movie

  • Either Mr. Ford is sadly getting senile or doing more drugs because even though he is taciturn in this older interview, his more recent ones are more, um "spacey" I find.

  • He's very shy but smart, looks insecure but, I too like him for his humility..he's generous..

  • He looked perfect at that point in his life.

  • its no musical comedy David...lol

  • lol was this one of the first Letterman episodes?

  • @exposed97

    He scored his fare share.

  • Every time I see my cousin's son, he reminds me of Harrison, he's only 5 years old and it's wierd!

  • people think harrisons a dick, if he didnt act sorta uptight the interviews wouldnt be as fun. hes aware of that.

  • "No. Not here, not, uh...

    ...with you ;)"

  • "Let's not talk about money." AWKWARD! Letterman is such an idiot...

  • hate to say this but its what i think, harrison ford the guy, is a bit of a bore. Hes a good actor, and i have nothing against him other than he takes himself too seriously and hes a bit boring in my opinion, miserable like, i like his characters more than him which is why i said hes a good actor, but yea, hes boring. I know this will get voted down but i dont see how anyone can watch this n not think it either

  • @Brady2k10

I actually think he has a very funny, kind of understated, sense of humor. Simple gestures, silences, raised eyebrows etc. Not boring at all, if you ask me ;)

  • @Caedyron

He is hilarious when he is on Conan O'Brien. He is very funny.

  • @Caedyron i totally agree. People who cannot see small nuances in other, or even daily life cannot detect character. They need to see the big, loud obvious.

  • god he's so handsome - but also CUTE - there. Zany an shit like I never knew.

  • Harrison Ford has an orgasmic voice and he was gorgeous in his 40's. Letterman's still as silly as he is. Somo things never change.

  • @LaClaudis

Amen, amen. I'd love to go back in time and cuddle and coo with Ford. Although, even now, I don't know as he'd be cool doing that with a male. Alas.

  • blade runner's my favorite movie but i wouldn't know wtfs going on in that clip, no wonder it bombed when it first came out

  • Man hes so cool.....

  • Is he tripping on acid or something?

  • nice guy but getting tired of indiana jones and 20m callista goldigg

  • My man Harrison making Letterman look like the ridiculous ass hat that he is and always was.

  • Awkward behavior? Hell no. He's just being a bad ass.

  • Enigma

  • he doesn't know spielberg... ??? where was he living, on MARS??? I wouldn't be surprised if a regular guy said this on 1982 but he is in this business. "Dear Harrison, there was a movie called "JAWS" shot 7 years ago, ever heard of it?"

  • @tkmariner

He probably meant he didn't know him personally.

  • He's not weird or anything. He's a guy who does acting as a job, and sees this interview stuff as a hassle. Harry's just a very personal guy who sees himself as an everyman doing a job, and doesn't let all of the merchandising with his face plastered on everything go to his head.

  • letterman looks like a grandma

  • I just love the reactions that Harry pulls off.

  • He is SO hot. ;D Ten times hotter than any of the teen stars today.

  • Oh my goooosh this is so old!!! "dime stores"..wow..and he is still such a cutie :-D

  • 1982 was the last good year....

  • His sarcastic humor makes me want to watch him in Indiana Jones again. Love him.

  • wow.. so long ago... and now both men nearing death

  • This is one of Ford's most fascinating acting jobs. He seems to be playing an amped up Indiana Jones the whole time and it's one of the most fascinating talk show appearances I've ever seen.

  • WOW, this was BEFORE David became a total asshole and all of his impacted feces went to his head.....I really think a good long enema would be beneficial for such an asshole!

  • The turtle is so cute!

  • @grzegorzpiaseczny Which turtle? I love turtles! Where and when in the video can I find it?

  • @YourFaceWillDie468 maybe in part II

  • @YourFaceWillDie468 maybe in part II

oh i see it is in 4:44

  • He has a dry sense of humor.

  • He's amazing - very remote, sarcastic and sexy as hell. The women with whom he slept at his 40s were blessed.

  • Harrison ford is the man. No questions asked.

  • Ford always comes off as such a dick. I wish he was more like the characters in his movies.

  • @pretzy2

Ford isnt a dick, he just has very low tolerance for stupid bullshit. He likes to go straight to the point and I admire him for that

  • @achmedlolol I get uncomfortable every time i watch him in interviews

  • @achmedlolol Amen, i laughed when i heard this because its so TRUE!!

  • @achmedlolol having a "low tolerance" is being a dick.

  • @achmedlolol its not just that, he got in the "business" at a VERY late time in his life, before that he was a nobody. and hes one of those movie stars who doesnt like... showing off that hes a movie star if you get what i mean. hence his mannerisms.

  • @achmedlolol same as me

  • I want his suite.

  • "How do things seem to be 40 years from now"

    29 years later in 2011......yeah.....

  • damn, Letterman is old. I didn't know he was on tv back then...

  • Is that tortoise about to flip on it's back, to see if Ford is a replicant, halfway through the interview?

  • Letterman's laugh at 4:30 translates as 'Yeez, that might have been the dumbest question I ever asked! Let's see if I can get some chuckles rippling through this Reagan-invested audience.'

  • Harrison's the only guy who can appear conceited and modest at the same time.

  • Comment removed

  • It's no musical comedy, David... hilarious.

  • A bit aloof, don't you think?

  • he's actually shy or introverted

  • 3:55 LMFAO

  • oh man..historic..one of the first sneak peaks of blade runner! i hope these people know how lucky they were!

  • Children check their closet for the boogeyman.

The boogyman checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris checks his closet for Harrison Ford.

  • Wow, his answers are so simple and yet so brilliant.

  • Man, a Riot there, He looks a lot .... A LOT like Will Ferrell in this dated clip. Somehow I missed it I guess, I watched Letterman most often in the 1980s

  • I love that Harrison isn't comfortable and fluid in interviews. It shows that he's not been practicing what he's going to say and how he's going to look. He wants to make movies and have his life. That's it :) now that I can respect.

  • Harrison Ford should interview Robert Deniro

  • First seeing this interview I thinkFord comes across as is dry-as-a -bone witty, which is impressive to me since he seems the same now and I thought he had developed the personality lattily after some hard knocks.

  • Ford and Letterman both got a lot better at interviews after this. Ford reacted too seriously to the money question and Letterman wasn't ready. Today they're both much smoother.

  • @MagicAlDF Didn't look too serious, but I half expect an informed Interview to bring up Tom Sellecks' turn in High Road to China, which to me is much like Indiana Jones, so him in the role would have been interesting actually

  • @MetallicBill high road to china?? no point mentioning it because it was pure crap

  • @pramboy09 I'd watch it again, I don't think it is, but it lacked the quality of an Indy movie, what's wrong with that film, in your eyes? Surely not everything!?

  • @MetallicBill in my eyes i thought the acting was crap and the story line wasn't much better. Believe me i grew up watching tom sellect in the eighties as a kid but he must have a had a terrible manager he could have got so many better roles back in the day.
