  • They just don't make stuff like this any more, do they? I guess I feel a bit like Morse myself - a classical music enthusiast, a loner, a bit of a moralist, and posessing something as rare in these days as an estethical sense. Maybe that's why I sympathise with him, despite all his human flaws.

  • Seriously, British television is the BEST...!!!!! You can only find this quality of work on British TV. The music, the acting, the story lines, etc.... If you like Inspector Morse, then please watch these: Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders, Inspector Lewis, Inspector Lynley Mysteries, and for comedy please watch these: Absolutely Fabulous, Vicar of Dibley, Faulty Towers.... and one could go on and and on. You will be very pleased.

  • @ladyjoanna64 Notwithstanding that I`m from England, I have to agree with you. I`ve sojourned here and there in the world, but the television I`ve seen abroad is utterly shocking compared to British `telly` - as bad as our television has become !

  • ALGERIAN PASTOR

    NEUROSURGEON

  • Followed every episode and am watching most of the reruns on TV at the moment. Morse is a fascinating character - almost a life half-lived. Highly intellectual, with a taste and appreciation for the finer things in life, but rather socially inept, various failed personal relationships and not very good at putting a sock in it. John Thaw is a wonderful actor.

  • Tonight while watching the latest episode of 'Inspector Lewis' and caught myself waiting to hear an exasperated John Thaw as Morse call out 'LEWIS'.... "Inspector Morse' with John Thaw.... what a lovely-lovely show this was...

  • @LaBelleMichele Whenever I think of Morse I think of the various ways he can say "Lewis!"

  • As an American I only had no idea who John Thaw was until I came upon an episode of Inspector Morse. It was so different from anything I'd ever seen on television. Watched another one and I was hooked. Amazing actor, well written and beautifully filmed show and I think it is the best thing I've ever watched on the tube. Still think so, 20 years later. I have all the dvds, read all Mr. Dexter's books and now I look forward all year to watching Lewis. I do miss the Chief Inspector so.

  • What has happened to the ITV network, now it shows rubbish? Nothing but four people on a panel judging others, and those canned laughter from video clips we get from members of the public. ITV is absolutely rubbish now. Gone are the days when quality shows like Morse, Sherlock Holmes and Upstairs Downstairs, would regularly be on. I miss ITV the way it was...now it is nothing short of crap.

  • John Thaw, John Thaw - just brilliant, just unforgettable...The BEST! Missed so much ... R.I.P.

  • John Thaw was brilliant...I miss his talent and I miss Inspector Morse. Thankfully he lives on in DVD but it's sad now to watch him as he is gone from us forever.

  • Brilliant. So missed. Morse, Regan, Kavanagh, John Thaw - what an actor.

  • get to the fucking point morse!

  • Inspector Morse is the one of the best detective shows of all time. Morse was unique and I love characters like him who stand out. I would like to see Inspector Lewis take inspiration from Inspector Morse in future episodes.

  • The best British mystery series. And there have been a lot of good ones!

  • Inspector Morse WAS a piece of art, because of John Thaw and Kevin Whately. Now Whately is continuing in his tradition. I wept when Endeavour Morse died, in the book and on television, because he was real in my mind and heart. Bless John Thaw for his wonderful acting, and bless Kevin Whately for his continuation.

  • tres bonne serie +la suite avec inspecteur lewis.j'adore

  • The Inspector Morse Series were better than the current Inspector Lewis Series, but I enjoy Lewis also. But I still think Morse was better.

  • as good as john thaw was in this role, i think kevin whately was even better. watch the very first episode "the dead of jericho". his performance is incredibly good. having said that, don't much like him as the lead now. his character has changed and is less appealing.

  • God, ITV used to make drama.........

    I forgot

  • Incredible scene - sure do miss John Thaw. Thank you for posting this wonderfully acted scene! I watch this at least once a week.

    *****Favorite

  • Unforgettable series. I miss Morse very much. RIP, John Thaw.

But I like Ins. Lewis also, of course.

  • I feel exactly the same

  • LaBelleMichele You were not the only one with a crush on John Thaw. Those blue eyes could melt any heart. Very much missed.

  • God, I LOVE this show!!!!!!!!!!

Morse will remain one of the singular greatest characters ever created!!!!!

    I loveeeee it so much.

    Lewis is AWESOME

  • I had the BIGGEST crush on John Thaw as Inspector Morse... this show was the one constant during many troubled, turbulant years of my life. I miss this show so much.... RIP John Thaw!

  • @LaBelleMichele You and me both, John was a Manchester lad like myself I miss him and this show greatly. How wonderful to find an American with similar thoughts for an Englishman, Kudos to you:)

  • @LaBelleMichele you posted this a long time ago, but I just came across it today. I had a crush on Thaw too...he seems an unlikely subject ...but, like you, I imagine, he appealed to me on many levels. I loved how "authentic" he was, how flawed, how honest. He was very handsome especially when you considered the whole man.

  • I love John Thaw as Inspector Morse, especially when he displays his sensitive side like he does in this scene. You can see the loneliness in his face and you just want to hug him. John Thaw is greatly missed, one of our most talented actors ever.

  • John Thaw was fantastic as Morse. He is what made the series so watchable. Such a natural actor, he could convey so much even without talking, his face sometimes said it all.

  • me gusta el futbol pero no los futbolistas...que grande Lewis, esta bien lo que le dice...es preciso.

  • I miss Morse dreadfully, he has so much personality. An endangered species, indeed...

  • yeah now what is there The bill.....great

  • your right

morse is the best show ever

i have the first six episodes on DVD

  • I always thought I was the only one with a mad crush on Morse. I miss him.

  • your not xD

i have a crush on him too

  • oh god sometimes you feel so sorry for Lewis. I was watching an episode earlier when Morse got him to do most of the hard work, enquiries and what not.

  • I have always said if John Thaw had been 30 years younger - I would have married him on the spot! :))

    I just love his voice...

    Such a brilliant actor...

  • i would have married him anyway

    he is hot <3

  • Rare moment of Morse and Lewis truly understanding each other and some great truth that they both understand. Thanks for posting!

  • Love Morse and John Thaw so sad he's gone!!

  • Thanks so much for posting. I miss John Thaw (RIP) and love Inspector Morse. Lewis was such a good sort.

  • This was from 1993.

  • Miss this programme so much, Inspector Lewis is good but not the same.
