People forget that until the 80s when VAT was put on take-away food, fish & chips was a very cheap food. Back in the 60s South Wales was still very industrial and when you work in a mine or steel works you need something substantial to eat.
The chip is full of Vitamin C and potassium, you forgot to mention Gwyn - potassium which counter-attacks the salt. And the fish, well what can you say, full of sea goodness and omega-3's - good for the brain and minds-eyes, I have been told....
