  • these videos are great you should make one about the war hawks

  • 1:03 HENRY CLAY! *derp*

  • Wonderful! Thank you.

  • Oh my god.

    This is beautiful.

  • Its a gross over simplification to say 'northerners did not mind tarrifs at all'. Actually a great many New Englanders were as hostile as the south to this tarriff bill, as their industries depended on imported materials that were hit by tarriffs. The tarrif bill was largley passed by the votes of, what in 1828 counted, as western states. The new industries of the west were reckoned to need tarrifs untill they got established.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO. It makes me chuckle everytime, it's truly a work of art. Henry Clay looks so dopey! What has he been smoking, and what has Calhoun been sucking on? He sounds all heliumed up xD !

  • Wasn't it the Tariff of 1833?

The tariff of 1832 was written by Adams and was still deemed unsatisfactory in the South.

  • HOLY CRAP THIS JUST MADE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN JACKSON, CALHOUN, AND CLAY CLICK. I JUST MIGHT SURVIVE MY APUSH QUIZ :D

  • watch?v=6Z-2EKGz6qM&feature=feedf

Urgent that you watch!! "not my video"

  • technically calhoun proposed the nullification act not the seccsion. south carolina proposed the secession but calhoun supported them in their descion, so not totally wrong. also i think it would be important to mention that jackson was about to use intense violence before henry clay.sorry vid is very funny correcting historical innacuracies helps me study ive got a final on monday. cool vid though

  • Domestic manufacturing is the best way to prevent slavery.

  • I love Calhoun's voice. XD

  • I love how Clay's eyes are unfocused.

  • I'm using this as a source in my paper and my teacher said that he'd accept it.

  • No he hadn't. The tariff of 1832 proved to not be enough and South California proceeded to nullification.

  • Thanks for this! :D

  • i'm an AP US History student and I love these videos. They're funny and interesting so I remember them and they're also informative. I'd love if you guys did a longer video over the Jacksonian Democracy and the Era of Good Feelings.

  • ok wat da hell iz dis

  • interesting indeed..

  • lol. you should do the adventures of Jackson in Florida! that one might be a little too much for the kiddies tho if you know what i mean ;-)

  • HOLY MOTHER OF CRAP

We just learned about this. Now, thanks to you guys, I will NEVER forget it. LMAO.

  • do a video on how President Jackson defeated the criminal us bank/ your videos rock though clay was a putz

  • Yet they never say what a tariff is and why is it called the Tariff of Abominations.

  • well that was weird

  • Brilliant way of learning! Haha.

  • This is a great way to commit this to memory! Great video!

  • wow this helps me out

am doing an essay on the tariff of abomnination

  • haha, im studing for my u.s historys finals rite now!!

  • this video suprisingly helped me understand it! really good!

  • helped so much

  • we watched this in history today! and by the way it was the Tariff of 1833 not 32. i paid attention today! :D

  • The Tariff of 1832 was the one passed by Congress to initially lower it,

Henry Clay came in in 1833 to propose a compromise tariff of 1833 that would continue to gradually reduce.

    There were two :)

  • Wow, this could have been useful for APUSH, too bad it's over though.

  • GETS TO THE POINT THANKS FOR POSTING~~

  • This is cute. I have a Master's degree in US History, and I would show this to any student.

  • Okay, all you haters- dont watch the videos! My little sibling was having a terrible time in social studies, watched a couple of these videos, and now she udnerstands EVERYTHING. It may simplify things, but thats what it's for. And they are funny at the same time.

  • Kinda oversimplified but it made me laugh. Guess I have to keep in mind these videos are for little kids.

I'm currently doing my high school senior research paper on the War For Southern Independence and was looking up "Tariff of Abominations" when this came up.

  • it really does an excellent job of getting the point of Tariffs across.

  • its corny but useful =P

  • Argh! Calhoun would never have confronted Jackson on the issue, as a federal officer with presidential aspirations Calhoun tried to keep his fingerprints off the SC Ordinance. C+.

  • Hey.. I'm writing a paper on Clay and Calhoun and am focused on that topic right now! Now if I could only figure out how to put all that from abstractions in my head onto the paper.. I might be able to get some sleep.

..oh? my point? This is cute, it made me laugh. X3

  • We hope it does get the point across. And yes, sometimes it's necessary to simplify things a bit when you're trying to fit it into a short video piece. Thanks for watching!

    -Dan from Ignite!

  • Wow. Way to oversimplify. Still, it does get the main point across I suppose.
