  • What if you to play minecraft or steam?

  • My computer takes 13 seconds to boot up. It's got something called an SSD dumbass.

  • this is only for linux users. nice try GOOGLE

  • @NFM18

Look!!!! You probable one of those people who thinks if you place things in the cloud then someone is going to get your information. I want you to remember that hacks are very resourceful and if your going to hack your going to get hack no matter with or without your information in the cloud.

  • Thank you for this video... I really was interested in GCOS... And i just got totally "turned off". WTF? Are you kidding? Is this a OS for ignorant no life people? Your DOCUMENTS on the internet? Store everything on the net!? Are you kidding? What about programs? What programs did you use to make this video for instance? Google online movie effects? OMG... I am really disappointed. It's a great OS for those who do nothing but chat or go to social networks basically.

  • What program(s) did you use to make this video?

  • I'm all for any Google product. I hope that they can knock Windows off of it's high perch on the OS market, especially if it's something superior and intuitive. My problem, though: I use my computer for MORE than "just" the Internet. I play games, like Age of Empires or WoW. I run word processing programs, like Word. If Google can make an OS that can do everything Windows can, but better, I wouldn't look back. I got excited as hell when I hear the term "Chrome OS", but not now.

  • What if i don't got access to internet ?

  • @homeworld523 lolllll

  • no you can make the OS with nothing so boot up just take 0.000001 Sec. XD

  • But will it blend?

  • @HenriKorpela LOL hmm good question, do u have a blentec blender?

  • Well.. it means that all your personal data will be stored on google servers. Dumb thing for someone to store his data there. So Cromium is a piece of s... errr... crap.

  • Google Chrome OS is for those whose needs for computer is ONLY for accessing the internet, isn't it?

  • Basically its a Splashtop OS, but on splashtop you can do things like import pictures too. I use expressgate but I need a full OS to do things like database work, for this to be successful they would need to incorporate an executable program platform so people can run the programs they want to. What could really make this current idea pop would be he ability to install and boot it from a USB Drive (Portable OS) all my links and stuff anywhere I go would be amazing to have.

  • but does it support dropbox?

  • But can it run Skyrim?

Because that's all I need, with the ability to watch 'classy' videos too.

  • My Windows 7 computer boots in 15 seconds from 0 to Firefox, thanks to SSD. My Windows 8 boots in 8 seconds to Firefox. Next time check your facts before making a propaganda, Google.

  • :yaoming:

  • I've never shut down my computer in the entire year+ I've had my computer. Boot time is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is sleep-wakeup time, which is already less than a second on almost all computers anyway.

  • Dear god, if this were anymore dumbed down, I'd feel like Helen Keller over here. That being said, nice idea Google, but I think I'll stick with my gaming rig...

  • what if i paint my screen blue

    isn't watching movies online illegal?

what about me and 1billion other people with ipods?

    what about flash

    nice thinking google

  • @tourorg it has flash, I play flash games in chrome all the time

  • not a very good drawer are u

  • What tools do google use to create such animations..

  • @diljithiphindia adobe flash

  • fuck

  • Hey Google this is a great idea but some peple also want to play games on their computer or use it for different other things wich are not possible with an Google Chrome OS. So why is ther no Computer wich optimized for the Internet and wich is very fast to boot up but wich alos has the ability to run Windows/Linux. The real OS could be loaded while the user is already enjoing the internet. This would be fast an clever:

  • Someone doesn't have an SSD as their boot drive

  • Some Asus motherboards have a mini OS complete with web browser and file manager that you can use even before the BIOS boots up. It would be cool to have a motherboard that starts up really fast in Chrome OS, and, if you want to do something else with your computer (play games and whatnot), start up your bigger OS (Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, DOS if you're into that sort of thing).

  • I like making sandwiches...

  • Sony vaio has a web button much better than this and you get windows

  • Solution: Get the program called Soluto

  • I don't understand why the chromebooks are so thick, so bulky for computers that have one sole purpose. Make the battery life huge by making the most of the space, and make it really thin.

  • Soooooooooo...is Google Chrome bad?? I was thinking about downloading it, but now I'm not so sure. I have firefox right now....

  • @mswolfgirl1818 better than firefox

  • ?Hmmm...lemme think. Offline? This operating system makes your computer about as useful as a brick. On windows I have massive crazy awesome games, that playing completely over the internet is impossible. How am I gonna write papers when I am away from wifi? Was this thought through?

  • @GIGeoffrey this technology is still being progressed, as said in the video its not for everyone just "most of us" who will almost always have internet with them(business managers/owners), im sure someday soon google os will take over the market... especially windows from Microsoft. Google os will just have to become much popular enough for people such as game developers to implement the internet more to load and render gaming but as i said technology is not there yet but the innovation is :]

  • @FerlingTech101 Okay, lemme rephrase. Gaming, for games that are literally 8 GB starting out will not be possible. And this is a netbook thing anyway. That is its sole purpose. There is no use to gamers. Or programmers who make heavyweight programs. This will not take over windows (I surely hope it won't) because windows is useful offline (as are most modern operating systems) Data speed has not progressed enough to make this useful. And I frigging love Windows and linux anyway

  • @GIGeoffrey You're obviously missing the point of this video...

  • Well what if i want to make a sandwich in that time?

  • @OneManWoIfPack then just get 1 boyfrend in stand in front of u and th otha 2 stand bhind u

  • oh god no.... just no....

  • Gee, 45 seconds to get on the internet, what planet is he on. If you use a i Mac computer, and you have a cable connection, (do people still hook up by phone line, nah that cant be, its the 21st century,) then you dont need Google chromium, or platinum or gold or whatever new gimmick they come up with to sell to advertisers so they can become the new millionaire.

  • So if I have a slow as shit internet speed (like most home internets and free wifi spots), I'm screwed?

  • @Phr33d0m I'm actually really curious about this too

  • I wonder how much memory you would get on the internet OS for downloading movies and music etc. That is if SOPA doesnt stop it.. still this seems like the future, no more will people need huge hard drives, even for various programs it will all just stream from the internet. Looks like google is looking to take on both microsoft and facebook at the same time! heres hoping they both go bankrupt.

  • Novel idea for an OS, like the other guy said, would be useful to have as a secondary boot option if you only going to use the internet, otherwise, a computer with an OS that only browses the internet would be far too limited. I can see this shifting personal computing into a new paradigm in which all activities are performed on the internet.

  • Sounds like it would be a perfect second Os to Dual boot

  • Try to work with this OS when your internet is not working

  • @JoaoJMatias He has got a point, why use the computer when internet is not working..

  • this thing has its own applications...like giving it to a grandma or AN EMPLOYEE that doesnt have a college degree and still be able to have smart management for the business thru webapps...i love this concept long live the web

  • @digerpaji Right, because only people with college degrees know how to use computers.

  • Photoshop?

  • Melhor sistema operacional! {Para Notebooks}

  • hey I'm using chrome browser while i was watching this commercialism

  • there needs to buy offline support, for example dropbox

  • blue screens of doom !!haha ... i think he means RAM overload

  • Does it even have a desktop?

  • @ad106gti No.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh now i get it thanks

  • cool story bro

  • No updates, that doesn't sound good kinda reminds me of some thing else, hmm Android?

  • I dont care waiting 30-60 sec to boots my pc. I can play all of the news games with no problem

Can your WEB BROWSER do that?

  • My computer boots in 24secs

  • 45 seconds... really? Sounds like somebody has a shit PC

  • this looks awesome

  • Great video! Interesting, informative & entertaining. I'm looking forward to doing my sandwich in 45 secs...but mainly looking forward to development of GoogleChromeOS & all OS initiatives to do away with MS Windows or really shake MS up so it provides better product & better customer service (ever possible?). Go OS :-)

  • im getting a chromebook for my birthday 08/16/2012

  • @usaloverivan Cool My Is 2 Days Before You. An You Were Born 1 Day After Joe Jonas's Birthday And I Was Born I Day Before His Birthday!

  • Google can make a Lot better OS with all their products instead of this crap. all it needs is desktop, file browser and to work offline.

  • But I'm on my Android right now

  • @ramirezharrier they need to integrate the two man i will buy their stuff then

  • 到最后是不是就有谷歌的OS了。。

  • 原来如此!!

  • I must say that this is perfect for notebooks / low specs computausorus that still sleeps in my mom's cave. However, without a proper Internet connection.....It sucks. Still, it's lightweight and user friendly.

If you don't want to pay a SSD for faster acces, this is the easiest way around.

Great product overall, just strange the first times.

  • So much rage in the comments whilst this works fine for people who only use the computer as an internet-machine. And no, I don't use the internet all the time, in reality I spend like 70% of the time spent on the computer playing games ie. Metro2033.

  • @TheLarhf maybe you should check out some web based games, there are millions and they are cross-platform

  • What if your Internet connection does not work?

  • @HenriKorpela if my internet connection does not work the only thing i can do with my computer is defrag, open windows explorer and watch my desktop icons!!!

  • @HenriKorpela, That's why they have a cell connection to give you internet everywhere!

  • @swat510 that you have to pay for per month; you may as well just get a smartphone

  • @gregslife7, comes with two years free actually.

  • @HenriKorpela play minecraft

  • how do you make this kind of stuff?

  • Ooor.. Get a faster computer that is gonna boot up fast.

  • No, i don't spend 90% of my time on the internet. I got a life and a job. I actually work with my machine. I couldn't care less about the "Cloud".

  • And then Google knows and has everything from you...great deal :)

I stick with my slow start up...

  • this guy has some problem with updates LOL

  • this not a OS, this web browser hahaha l.o.l..

  • or you can just get an ssd?

  • what if your internet fails..?

  • What a con... To Display Webpages, you need gui which needs to be stored then read from your harddrive, which means you still need a memory management system like windows, and you still need basic services to get things working like a driver interface for your I/O which means you also need a task management system, which means it's an operating system anyway... And you can't skip POST and the bios anyway as that's inbuilt on all computer, and there the things that make booting up so slow...

  • hes fascinating !

  • Firefox ftw!

  • chrome os is a fail

  • well this was a FAIL, lol...

  • But what if connection to the internet is lost when working on something important?

This might be good for people who use nothing but a web browser on a computer, but personally I prefer locally stored programs, and files on my home network.

  • Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... I tought i had only 1 OS on my PC but it looks like i got 2: Windoes 7 And Google Chrome... Awesome :))

  • aaah, little correction - Chrome is't made by Google. :) It's the commersial derivative of Chromium which is OpenSource. :)

  • You just made people realize they need they're real laptops.

  • So you have a nice paperweight when you are an the go? How do you use it when you don't have an internet connection?

  • we will see what will happen after 2 years with linux. I am shure it will be more successful than windows :P

  • google Crome crashes on me 20% of the time... and thats a lot.

It even has the cheeky message "no way it crashed" or something... because they claimed it would never crash but it does lol

dunno about you lot but i will pass :)

Crome can go live under the DOME... you know likw on the simpsons lol

  • @jaymeeface mine never crashed.

  • Seems like Google is basing this whole OS on people with ADHD who can't wait 30 seconds for their computer to turn on. That's the only selling point I'm seeing here.

  • Comment removed

  • @SteffeStolpskott not 90 hours but 3 hours. 365/0.5 minutes = 182.5 minutes = 3 hours. Not so much time.

  • @BakersDelightSam Lol severe mistake xD

  • @cosmiccountrynoir Even then you can just buy a Solid State Drive for under 150 dollars and your computer will boot in less than that time.

  • I love google chrome

  • This is essentially what Ubisoft did to video games, except this is with your entire OS.

  • and when you don't have a connection, you can't play games, you can't listen to music and you can't do your work.

    Which sounds stupid.

And if your connection is slow - which is true for a lot of people, maybe even most, everything is.... slow.

    /me so not convinced.

  • @methanbreather Very well said! That's why I use a full-featured OS, and 45 seconds is still short time for a boot!

  • and long ago too

  • linux puppy os ALREADY DID THIS before google

  • ...Im no computer geek... and i actually understood everything. He truly dumbed this down to what i, or anyone could understand... huh.... WHY ISNT HE TEACHING MY MATH CLASS!?!?!?!?

  • @nastydaydreamer I guess your teacher doesn't have the time that Google has to make "dumbed-down" videos.

  • What a condescending load of tripe. I use a lot more on my computer than "the internet'. I'm not so stupid that I don't know what "stateless" means. And no, I do not want EVERYTHING on the cloud.

  • Thumbs up if you have a google chrome

  • thumbs up if watching on mobile :D

  • My motherboard has its own browser built in.. If I dont want to wait for my computer to load up I can just click on browser before fully booting up :O .

  • what about half the world with iPhones and iPads? Is iTunes integrated in this OS? I doubt apple is letting that happen. I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with the "Cloud" idea. I agree with another post on here, I wouldn't trust everything I have being stored on Google's Server. This sounds like the worst Linux Distro (which I am assuming it is). Fedora and Ubuntu take the cake for me (minus no iTunes there either and no Netflix). A OS that is a browser? Really? Fail!

  • i tried to make a sandwich in 45 seconds... epic fail

  • @qwerty9009ify could you do it?

  • Most annoying voice over ever. High-pitched and condescending sounding. I have to watch this on mute.

  • I don't know what people are talking about when they say Chrome sucks. Chrome rocks! I also love this commercial because the guy is talking like he's only talking to me, not through a commercial. I like that because it's easy to listen to. It's very explanatory and advertises Chrome very nicely. I've always had Chrome, but if I didn't and I just saw this commercial, I'd go and download it right this second! A job nicely done, Chrome! [=

  • What, so I can't put software on it?

  • A MacBook Air boots up in 12 seconds....

  • i dont like the idea sucks, i need privacy to keep my porno stuff

  • Watching this on a chromebook!

  • trying to sound smart but ending up sounding like you're trying too hard to sound smart

one of the most annoying voice overs

  • Apple has won the game ... period

  • @JesusChristMuslim But it lost to the Atari Jaguar!

  • who is so Impatient that they can't wait 45 seconds for their computer to boot up?

  • @Googlechrome I feel abandoned by Google. Chrome is crashing 24/7. Up to date.

More then 1 tab with flash crashes. Google websites have strange bugs in chrome but not other browsers. This makes me wan't to goto ie9. What happened? Chrome was great. but as things started going more, 'Google' it got horrible. Flash not made by adobe for it causes chrome to hang with all tabs. not one! Adobe's flash just crashes alone. not taking chrome. Java? slow. Youtube? Crash engine. HTML video tag support? no

  • wait did i just see that vid show that the bios deteriorates overtime i think that google should just stick to what it is for, being a search engine, developing chrome and every thing else it did before this shit

  • Check out my channel to under PC Networking and build your own PC for less that 1/2 the cost of a pc.

  • Seems interesting but i can never leave my awesome ubuntu. Chromium is a nice browser though.

  • cool, my netbook really needs this

  • look cool but that is mean that only i can use this OS with internet and without internet totally useless.

  • Is this a free OS?

  • @Mineshack it is Open-Sauce. So its free!

  • Useless.

  • And what's the internet for?

  • Chrome OS is good but I can't game on it

  • @Mikoyuan In the future all games will be on the web. HTML5 ftw.

  • Linux FTW! Boots in 10 seconds, counting logging in! Using Chromium Browser Nightly, runs faster than Google Chrome browser by a land slide, I win! :DD *parties*

  • @shocwavedjofficial it cost me more than a mac for my computer

  • @shocwavedjofficial well i will make a video on my system

  • Shame, really like the idea and would use it but I just can't use my 3d animation apps! :|

  • Hmmm.... seems legit... But I think i'll stick with my Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

  • ha my computer loads up in like 10 secs it got i7 processor win 7 ultimate 2 batteries and intel quad core

  • @materyodahelp you know it that isnt true... :)

  • Actually, a really cool idea. Wouldn't be practical for me NOW, but as more and more things become designed to be part of the 'cloud'...wouldn't be surprised if we all have these things five years from now.

  • What if you're already watching this on Google Chrome OS?

  • how is it secure when google tracks everything you do with it?

  • WINDOWS 8 BOOTS IN 10 SEConds

  • @cheatengine101 Windows 8 boot in 73 seconds on a new HP.

  • "anyways" isn't a word.

  • I dont get it,

thease turds dont even use it themselfs, they use win7.

  • I think I'll still have a sendwich (while booting 45sec)

  • I really have no problem with 45 seconds delay. I don't see what the fuss is all about.

  • Chromo S? lol

  • firefox is better :)

  • Google Chrome OS is not more than a WebKit Webbrowser running on a little Kernel written by Google. You can not play any games like "Call of duty" or similar. I think, you can do much more with hobby operating systems like ReactOS, so, why using Chrome OS?

  • What is Google Chrome..? It's a total piece of sh*t from company that has lost its way..that's what

  • also u have no privacy because all you sensitive data is on Google servers

  • @TheMsdos25 Yes, and I have a problem with that. I use Linux Mint on my laptop.

  • Where to download?

  • I have a Dell one, with a hefty 8GB of internal storage, 1GHz processor and 1GB of ram. Now i could mess about installing Linux and then spend hours tinkering trying to get everything working properly, or i could just install this.

I think I am the target market for Chrome OS having a virtually redundant device that can now be made re usable, easily. Would not dream of converting my main PC away from win7 though, Mmmmmm Windows.....

  • Even the fastest computer will take 45s to boot? Wrong. My mac take 20-30s to boot.

  • Most things that you do on the internet, are usually linked to your files offline such as documents and pictures, what if you wanted to download programs to play games etc etc...

  • alright, but what if you don't have access to the internet?
