  • Did anybody else find it fitting (or a bit macabre) that they were playing the Meet the Press theme at the start of this NBC NEWS Special Report?

  • I watched Meet The Press almost every Sunday prior to Tim Russerts death. Since his death, I have yet to watch an episode.

  • class act

  • I don't know anything about politics and I hardly ever watch the news and I still knew Tim Russert.

  • @mypalrocco haha right on! liberals suck balls!

  • Tim Russert was a great fellow and fine journalist. Fifty eight - not young, but not very old either. A shocking loss nonetheless.

  • Comment removed

  • @SHEPARDWISPERER he had heart failer.he died of tha. nothing to do with his weight

  • I met Tim Russert during the Iowa Caucuses in 2008 at a McCain rally. He was very personable and spoke with me for some time while waiting for McCain to show up. May he rest in peace.

  • i miss this man,.i used to watch him when i lived in america.

  • I believe Brian Williams was on an out-of-town assignment, so hence, it was Tom Brokaw who had to break the news.

By the way, NBC broke into the second round of the U.S. Open Golf tournament to make the announcement.

  • My local NBC affiliate had just finished up a local severe weather bulletin. I remember seeing WAND-TV's closing bumer for their severe weather bulletins announcing, "we return you to regular programming", then this aired.

  • Same here, same channel...weird

  • i feel bad for the guy announcing the death since he was a friend

  • YouTube is full of lowlifes whose lives revolve around spewing hateful, adolescent bile. Their miserable existence is just as sad as Russert's death, and maybe more. Unlike Russert, they will contribute nothing to the world...unless they grow up.

  • Tim had pop eye balls :)

  • The reason people loved Tim is because he an everyday person. Just a regular Joe. He was one of us. He asked the questions we wanted to ask. He was the father and wife that some of us didn't have. The upcoming election will not be the same without Tim. To quote Clarence from It's a Wonderful Life "You've really had a Wonderful life." Tim was our George Bailey.

  • He was a remarkable man. We are all lucky to have known him, whether we are smart enough to know that... or not.

Godspeed, Tim. May you rest in peace.

  • I think no matter what people die and people are totally allowed in this world to have their own opinion but sometimes it's best left to themselves. You truly are a piece of shit when you dog people who have passed on with exception of individuals like of course hitler but c'mon makin fun of a news guy...

    weak...just weak...

  • when I heard this dude died I was just about to start looking into heart attacks and things of that nature. Rest and peace and all that jazz, but what trips me out is how everything, everything that is happening around the world is connected.

NWO in full effect and almost done with operation digital control...oh yeah heart attack is the topic of the week...

  • I'm only 17 and he was able to get me into politics. What he was able to do was unbelievable and should always be remembered when talking about US politics. Whoever says he was a "vile piece of shit" should take a good long look at themselves

  • Tim Russert was one of the finest journalists I've ever seen, and I believe the best interviewer in the business. His books on the importance of fatherhood are also an especially poignant legacy for the man. God bless his family and rest in peace.

  • a monster doesn't become a man merely by dying.

  • Your comments are absolutely revolting and worthless. You haven't said a single thing of substance. Perhaps you aren't capable of doing so. You're basically a monkey throwing his own shit out of a cage.

  • He was great at assisting in the cover up in the LOOTING of the USA as it continues to this day. HE WILL BE MISSED BY THE ELITE VAMPIRES THAT OWN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

  • The news of Tim Russerts death is sad indeed. He was a great sucess both in his chosen field and his private life,He was truely a man for all seasons, and he will be sorely missed.I feel we will not see his like again.

  • Every Sunday Meet the Press was the show that I look forward to and Tim was the best in the business. The loss is too much, but the spirit lives on. Tim we miss you! And Sunday would not be the same..

  • HMF Riverdale you are a vile piece of filth. As I am not religious, I can tell you, that you are one of the waste of human existence, that revolts me knowing I could possibly be sharing the same roads as you. You are filth.

  • Coming from a deviant like you (I saw your confused profile), I take your words as a badge of honor.

I sincerely hope your head ends up on the end of a muslime stick. You are CLEARLY, too stupid to exist.

Filth? Apparently your are well versed in "filth". . why don't you roll back on top of your father and leave me alone.

    Peace, out

  • THink about how uneducated and insignificant you sound, by comparing Tim R, to the likes of Stalin and Hitler.

    1. You are either a wal-mart stocker, who will never leave the suburbian hell you are locked into.

    2. A confused community college non-white, bitter agenda seeker.

    3. or white trailer trash who actually pays attention to what's going on in the world, but is filled with so much vitroil and hate, your true colors shine with your post. YOu wont hear from me again swine.

  • Dont waste your time on HMFRiverdale. The muslime stick line was the exact line he told me today. He is clearly uneducated and can't come up with anything original. He is arrogant and egotistical. Combine that with ignorant and you have something you are too smart to even humor. Don't be offended by someone who uses 'muslime stick' twice. What the hell is that anyway?? He hasn't had one intelligent, orginal thought in all his posts.

  • And you can share at that home when you die! That might be comming soon, I hear that there's an angry mob that hates you, asshat.

  • Kingcab. . . what a pathetic POS you have proved yourself to be. Threats from a coward. . nice. . . but less than average. . .

Let's hope you enter a gasoline swallowing contest very soon. . . in the next hour would be great.

    Peace out

  • You're a piece of shit.

  • AIPAC will miss him but there are a lot more shills left.

    NEXT!

  • A special place in hell is reserved for this propaganda mouthpiece. America is a better place with him dead.

  • ladalang, You are not worth the dust from Tim Russert's shoes, you vile, little worm. Save your hatred for someone who can speak back. Not for the dead. America is a WORSE place because you're still breathing. And when you finally croak, I hope you get the same respect that you just showed to Russert.

    None.

  • lada, It remains true? Why? Because YOU say it is?

    I think not.

    You have absolutely no class.

  • It's a fact everyone knows but the sheep who watch this crap and believe it. Class has nothing to do with patriotism. I love my country and hate anyone who tries to harm her. Dead or alive the man was a vile piece of shit.

  • ladalang, I think most of the people on this post would agree that the only piece of shit here is you. The fact that you can't see what a horrible person you are, makes you even more pathetic. You really should get help.

  • the world would, and believe me when I tell you I type this with such immediate brevity, be a wonderful place without you in it. There is no need for someone of your words littering the world.

  • The announcement by Brokaw was broadcasted on NBC. They broke into the US Open golf coverage to announce the sad news. After the special report ended, NBC went back to golf.

  • Meh, Just one more person in the corrupt media down, your days are numbered Brokaw!!

  • Saintfyre, That goes for you too. People who celebrate the deaths of people they disagree with politically, are the worst America has to offer. Perhaps you would fare better in a country where 1 political view is the law of the land. Like Cuba.

  • you would fare better in another country, you just don't get it. He is responsible for perpetuating lies and death and making our country no better than Cuba. He takes freedoms away, he destroys our Constitution. Start acting like an American and open your damn eyes before she is gone. You have an obligation to defend her, not defend nazis.

  • How can people make insulting comments at a time like this? Think of all the pain and suffering his family and friends are going through. It crushes me to even think about it, and behind the internet people actually have the nerve to insult the man? It's amazing the way hatred is fueled by politics in so many people in this country, and around the world.

RIP Russert, regardless of your politics, you clearly died too young.

  • Masterfully said, sir.

And I agree with you: All this noise from the legion of uninformed, short-sighted, vitriolic blowhards on the internet when a family is grieving the loss of their husband, father, son and brother is shameful.

Russert was obviously loved and respected by his family, his friends and his peers. If I knew nothing else of him, that would be enough for me to admire him greatly.

My sincere prayers and thoughts for everyone who is personally touched by his passing.

  • Very well said, I agree.

Thing is, I consider myself a conservative libertarian. It's not like I even agreed with Russet's politics, but he was a good man. He clearly didn't deserve to die this young, despite the throng of heartless nobodies who seem to think so, simply because he had different opinions. I just don't understand how someone can be so heartless that they're willing to mock the death of a man, who had a family who now will live without him, simply because of left vs. right shit

  • Now there's a voice of reason! Good for you.

    I agree totally.

Seems people forget how to put themselves in another's place and ask themselves how they'd like to be treated the same way.

  • What the hell is wrong with you?

  • RIP Tim Russert

  • A giant in political journalism, and a even larger more accomplished father. All of us with living fathers should give them a call to say, "I Love You" to honor his memory.

  • Shocking.

  • he was a legend and will be missed .I loved listening to him tell us what was going on in the world.

  • Goodbye, Tim, we will remember you. Rest in peace. Let's hope that either David Gregory or Andrea Mitchell would become the new moderator of "Meet the Press".

  • RIP Tim Russert you will be missed

  • Well said, Mr. Brokaw.

  • So sad!

  • I feel bad for msnbc washington, andrea micheal to be precise, he was her mentor and the only person besides her father who called her mitch. He didn't even know her father called her that either.

  • he had a heart attack!

  • he just colasped, while preparing for meet the press. They took him to mercy hospital, and failed to resessitate him.. Turn on msnbc they are doing a 24/7 coverage of it, for the time being. It is so sad...

  • On Cnn right now Wolf just annouced that it might not have been a heart attack. I'm telling you all that something is not right.

  • Already is starts. Hey, it's raining out...there ought to be an investigation.

  • Requiem aeternam dona eum Domine!

  • I am not a political guru, but Tim Russert talked politics in a way a novice like me could understand. Sunday mornings would be full of football for me, but I always seemed to leave it on Channel 4 NBC when "Meet the Press" was on. He'll be missed.

  • Watching Brokaw here makes me realize how much I miss him as a news anchor.

  • I'm sorry to his this. I like him a lot, seemed like a hell of a nice guy.

  • wow, what a shock

  • Wow! What a surprise; only 58. I watched Meet the Press every week and read both his books. I'll pay him the highest compliment possible...after watching him so long, I still can't tell what his personal political opinions are. In a biased media world full of name calling demagogues, Russert set the standard for Fair & Balanced interviews. He'll be sorely missed. R.I.P. Tim.

  • John, you're right. Tim Russert was straight down the middle at all times, a tradition that has been ripped away from media. This hits all that much harder for that.

  • I just heard this on MSNBC...This is so sad...I watch meet the press each day! Wow, surprising. We will keep him in our hearts.
