  • The dance, the music, the acting, the singing, it has everything!

  • skip the guttah!

  • Mr Crooner and Daddy Long Legs having fun - omg I LOVE this piece!

  • I'll take Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire over Justin Beiber any day.

  • Who are these douchebags?

  • The original Kanye/Jay-z right here

  • That was awesome. Loved the politician impression at 4:10 haha. But I'm pretty sure the porter impression was racist.

  • 1946 - When men we're gentlemen... !

  • 0:29 the requisite "effeminate put-down".

  • @wattever333 Haha I didn't catch that first time around! But what are they trying to say? The lyrics then are "for miles around the women & children pass out cold". Not sure what the gay subtext is there...

  • @therealsoyboy not a gay subtext. an anti-gay subtext. it only lasts a few seconds.

at that point, they're trying to inform us "we're dancing but we're not fags". it's a shtick men dancers did a lot.

  • what a strange number.

  • I love the fact that we finally get to see the great Fred Astaire wearing tap shoes! In most of his films he doesn't actually wear tap shoes and the taps are dubbed in at a post-production stage. Great and funny routine.

  • Love the bit of observational comedy they throw in! And they do it in a suit and hat!

  • All of that. And his pants are still perfectly starched

  • i love Bing....

but Fred is killing him in this xD

  • At 2:17, Fred is like "Look, this is how you do it!".

    Loved it!

  • I laughed so much

    XD

  • Hilarious at 1:32.

  • Two politicians, lol, things don't change much.

  • Two Giants!

  • omy...Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire this is just eargasm

  • Ces artistes ne devraient jamais mourrir ! Ils donnent tellement de joie au monde entier !!!

  • does anyone know where i can find this movie?! i loved it as a child, haven't been able to find it anywhere!:(

  • @xbarbiefacex

Doing a quick amazon search showed it in the top results, try there.

  • This is real talent!

  • I love how Bing mocks Freddy. These are true showmen of all time.

  • Even the dumb, clumsy numbers are still better than anything today. Actors/singers/dancers today are put to shame by Astaire,Crosby,Sinatra,Kelly.

  • Where'd the style go in music? I missed the best era for music and clothes... I want this kind of style back!

  • And then came Rock'n'Roll few years later! Yeah! Any way this times were great also!

  • Hollywood is magic!

  • That was Hilarious!

  • I have to wonder where being pretty became a suitable replacement for talent.

  • This is going to sounds weird but it's true...Fred Astaire has always been good at impersonating being drunk and dancing. He does it great here and it's my favorite dance number in Holiday Inn as well :)

  • Had a big dumb grin on the whole time I watched this. And it's always an impressive feat to see anyone keep up with Fred. Talent right there.

  • I kept thinking Bing was older than Fred. Fred was 4 years older than him and outlived him by 10 years.

I wish this whole movie was up on here.

  • put a man in good clothes and put him tap dance... one of the hottest thing ever XDDD

  • Watch Der Bingle's (Bing Crosby, for you youngins) right heel when he starts kneeling at 0:49. He is SO wearing lifts. I heard he was only 5'6" ha-ha.

  • absolutly super

but best is two politicks meet at the street. It looking that nothing change from this times. :-)

  • Wait. .... 1:02 Michael Jackson kick??

  • @jepkofficial yup! good spot!!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • @jepkofficial Absolutely!!!!!!!! ;)

  • gene loved fred and fred loved gene.they both were perfect dancers.

  • @1472434 Dont forgot that anyone playing with Mr.Astair or with Mr.Kelly had to train darn hard too to achieve that...With Gene even more i think.Look at the lady at Singing in the rain...she had to train so much she had blisters...But yeh..training was required to play in a movie with those 2 gigantic dancers. But then if you compare the voice...Bing clearly wins =) one of the best voices ever imo..

  • Champagne !!!

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i love the impressions!

  • Love the impression at 4:03!

  • forever !!!!!!!!!!

  • the only thing better than a movie with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire? a movie with Bing Corsby, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly.

    that would have been awesome

  • @CookieKitsune And Bob Hope. GOTTA have Bob Hope!

  • @CookieKitsune They were all in "That's Entertainment". I think that's the closest you'll get.

  • Even Gangsters were classy back then ...

  • While my friends are watching kesha lady gaga and katy perry im watching fred astaire bing crosby and ginger rogers lol

  • I think the jacket Fred has on here is the same jacket he wore in the beginning of Easter Parade during the Drum Crazy scene. Makes me wonder if he actually owned all these killer suits he wears.

  • Something like Brian and Stewie would do.

  • This is classic vaudeville act. When I first saw this film I was young teen & I felt it was too funny. The two are a perfect team. Astaire is just classic song & dance man his footwork & body language & chorography was perfection personafide! Bing was excellent considering he wasn't a dancer. He was The Crooner in his hay day. These two men started everything when you think about it. Bing was an excellent singer, big attraction as was latter on Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley.

  • talented people!

  • Fred was always criticizing of the dance partners he worked with, so his reaction to Bing at 1:34 was pretty much how he'd normally react. In this film, Bing and Fred were both competing for the same girl, you don't know who you want get her in the end, I think it was a bit confusing...

  • no offense to crosby, i have my share of love for the crooner, but it aint a good idea dance side by side to astaire. the comparison is just distinctively obvious. two great legends nonetheless!!

  • great video, kools, what does "so gangster" mean? just curious, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • This is so gangster. I love how they just start doing impressions out of nowhere.

  • they don't mak'em like that no more, fabulose

  • 4:00 :Ohhh...So Politicians have ALWAYS been like that. o_O

But anyway, thanks for posting this! I miss watching these guys work!

  • great video. i loved when old films would pair a great singer and a legendary dancer, like the films with Frank sinatra and Gene Kelly, and of course this one here.

Can you imagine if they had a performance with all four of them.?

    :)

  • Thanks for the upload. I thought they both did very well.

  • This is great! Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire were extremely talented. This is fantastic and wholesome entertainment.

  • fred astaire on 0:24..WHOAAAAAAA.HE WAS DA MAN.that is a very difficult step.

  • Why doesn't Hollywood realize we need more movies like this!? Clean, no sexin/swearin/boozin. Just GOOD movies!

  • @dncngJ180 I ABSOLUTELY agree with you.Absolutely.

  • I love Astaire's voice and dancing.BRILLIANT!

  • Love Bing's voice & Fred's dancing & the memories of watching these old movies with my grandmother! Thanks

  • i wish i lived in this time!

  • Great song/video, I flipping LOVE Fred Astaire <3<3<3

  • 2:16

    Bing: O___o'

    Fred: *facepalm*

  • I LOVE DIS MOVIE N ALL DA OTHA 1S FRED ASTAIRE N BING CROSBY R IN.

  • at 1:24 did i just see the advent of crazy legs?

  • lmao!!!

  • Is it just me or was this same exact set in Easter Parade as well?

  • 4:14 xDDDD

  • Gotta love Bing Crosby's voice.

  • Only 107 823 view? I can't believe it!! :O This is like the coolest thing ever!

  • 1.03 that`s MJ`s kick!!!!? o.O!

  • @Ortegala Where did you THINK he got it?

  • I ALWAYS burst out laughing at 2:35. Fred's so adorable :D

  • 1:04 thats where mj got that move :P

  • I love the Porter helping you catch the 5:15.

  • Bing's blue pants also make it harder to see that he's actually doing a really great Job of dancing too. if they were wearing the same color then you'd be able to see how great he was actually doing....

  • Digging the suits, but white soks? Was DerBingle color blind?

  • @miketallica665 i think they were like a faded gray i guess cuz no one and i mean NO ONE wore white sport socks with a suit back then

  • @albinoclone still, the stark contrast in color from the blue, or even the black?

  • HOLY SHIT this makes me so happy!

  • I was just imagining what if Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire got together? Wonderful!

  • Genial (y)

  • 2:13 Fred goes. No, no.... Bing just... stop STOP!!! Like this....

Bing: tap tap tap... twirly twirly 3 times and ... kick!

    Fred: Never again...

  • Bing Crosby= Best dancer ever!

  • astaire was 47 when this was filmed....GET IT FREDDIE BOY!!!!

  • truly impressive.

  • grandesa!

  • Fred makes it look so easy. How does he DO that? D:

  • i wish they could make movies like this again. but without astaire and all it wouldn't be the same.

  • my favourite pair <3

  • omg 64 years ago still looks cool and new! :)

  • i would bang either

    jk

    just astaire

  • WOW

Sure...the "good 'ol days" and all....but really - this is REAL TALENT. This was from the days when stars had to Sing AND Dance AND Act AND be able to think on their feet.

Today---most "stars" are just a pretty. Most have little or no talent...it's just all smoke and mirrors from the edit room.

  • so politicians have always been rats XD !!!

  • 'Skip the gutter!' - I can't help laughing!

  • Real talent mixed with comedy, fantastic entertainment. Thanks for posting this.

  • We all keep repeating "that's entertainment' (me, among others:D), missing the good old days when entertainment was really entertaining! Wish it back!

  • They're terrific, aren't they? Looooove them - a perfect team! That's entertainment!

  • Where did artistry and finesse go?

  • now THAT'S entertainment!

  • I love it when Bing dances, he just looks so awkward. And he's concentrating so hard while Fred (literally sometimes) dances circles around him.

  • loved it

  • 0:33 fred says "pass" like a gay guy XD

  • Any one get the racism at 3:29 ?

  • @Yenboid listen your asshole everything isnt racism like people says today besides it was the 1940's they had other standards back then your dick

  • @Yenboid not me... please illuminate me!

  • where has the greatness gone? There isnt an entertainer alive today that could shine Bings or Freds Shoes never mind compete

  • Great!

  • fred does a michael jackson move here

  • @funtimecamo you mean Micheal Jackson did a Fred move from here? :P

  • @xiuliano yes, at 1:04, fred does the kick that michael jackson made so famous

  • THey are two great actora!

  • 1:28 Bing Crosby is totally freak-dancing.

  • 1:28 Bing Crosby is totally freak-dancing.

  • These two are great, and they're like mirrors of each other! Astaire was a virtuoso dancer, and could sing pretty well; while Crosby was a fabulous singer, and could dance well enough! :) What would we do with them, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor...

  • white people.

  • "when my voice hits the air and my feet hit the ground "

  • two polititions meeting in the street

  • That is the most Gene-Kelly-ish dancing I've ever seen from Fred Astaire.

  • At 1:04-1:06 you can see what quite possibly influenced Michael Jackson's famous kick from the thriller days.

  • @Ludichris8531 Oh wow never noticed that before!

  • @Ludichris8531 Yep, MJ autobiography was dedicated to Fred Astaire. :) WONDERFUL dancers! :D

  • I absolutely love this number they did together.

    Two legends!!!!

  • I love the farmer handshake! hilarious!

  • 1:35 "honey...no."

  • ya allong with kallemick coment because fred is more of a dancer.

  • One of my favorite movie scenes of ALL TIME!!!

  • @newsy214 what movie is this from? I really want to watch it!

  • @dianaberry9393 : Blue Skies! A great movie.

  • @newsy214 I am going to go rent it! From what I can see, it looks hilarious! :)

  • you should be able to recognize them by the one that can dance better and the one with the deeper, smoother voice. yes, bing is the blue, fred the grey. and it all depends on what the director wanted for if a film in the 30's or 40's is color or a film in the 50's or 60's is black and white. just go with it.

  • These are some of the most ignorant comments I have ever read on You Tube. And that's saying something.

  • bing is the one in the blue suit and fred in the gray right?

  • I can't recognize Bing, but I can definitely recognize Fred. You're right!

  • @SilverInsanity i heard bing sing "dear hearts and gentle people" so it gotta be him in the blue suit and the way the guy in the gray suit dances makes me think it must be fred

  • Fred Astaire from 1:03, that move is great

  • Two authentic sons of Apolo the Greek art patron god, each one with his speciality!! Thanks.

  • @x0Xsmash: the same way the wizard of oz was in 1939... technicolor.

  • hey... if this was taken in 1946. how can this film be color??

  • its colorised or remastered

  • they are awsome XD

  • Great seeing these 2 together. Bing wasn't a bad dancer at all, he holds his own next to Fred.. And Fred was actually a good singer. Well written song ;P

  • I freaking love these two on their own, but together, they're simply amazing.

I always will love Crosby more, but even he looks awkward dancing next to the awesome Astaire. XD

  • I love at 1:32, Astaire's like 'wtf are you doing?' and then at 1:35, he's like, 'No... Just no..."

  • its cool how back then ladies wanted men to sing dance and act, but today the ladies want to see men wit good bodies

  • I never knew bing was a dancin type this is so cool. i need to look into this more.

  • he danced in some of the road movies with Bob Hope.

  • he was in all of the "Road To..." movies with Bob Hope.

  • I know he was in all the films but he only danced in a few

  • @swordfish1929 oh ok, i see what you mean.

  • Fred and Bing were amazing in "Blue Skies," We can never be blue with their talent in this movie.

  • im the song

    im the dance

  • LOL... i love to see Bing dance...

  • I still think Crosby is better with Hope but the best dancer and the best singer Hollywood can offer is still amazing

  • brilliant freds really serious and dancing and bings just messing about but overall these two friends are enjoying themselves

  • this really mkes me smile:D

  • Exactly. The two comment before mine say it all. These men aren't singers or dancers. They're performers, entertainers. They're the real deal. They do it all.

Wouldn't it be great to see vaudeville style entertainment make it's way into the mainstream again?

  • Their talented to the point that whatever they do shouldn't be called acting because it doesn't look like their acting as much as them being themselves on set. They look like their really enjoying themselves when they perform.

  • To call these men actors is an insult, they are not acting, they are performing.

  • 0:32 was the moment when I truly realized the amazing of Fred Astaire.

  • Magnificent actors! :))

  • eso es lo que se llamaban artistas de verdad. cantaban bailaban acuaban y todo lo hacian bien. Lástima que ahora la generación presente no se prepare ni tenga ambiciones de figurar para siempre, aún muertos.

  • wish they made more movies together.

  • I always loved this one. Bing had great chemistry with anyone

  • NOw thats how you entertain!!!!

    Hollywood should be taking notes
