I was a soldier who joined the Army straight from school in the early 80s. This song could have been written for me (and thousands like me) following the Falklands War. Was never sure which side of the divide SLF were but after seeing them live in Belfast on the 'No Sleep Til Belfast Tour', I didnt really care. Awesome band regardless of political persuasion.
This is one of my favourite songs. I'm 15 now and all my life i've been a fan of this kind of music - my dad was a hardcore punk, and still is! and i'm glad!
Man, these guys are Awesome! If it weren't for the simple rental of a little film called "High Fidelity", these guys would have completely passed me by!
It actually sounds better live at their gigs. (Last of their gigs I went to there was a Sid Vicious lookalike bobbing around near me, creepy how much he looked like him). Also Jake Burns was the first person I ever interviewed (that was famous) as a journalist.
And anyway, shouldn't you be busy living with your mum, watching superhero clips, wondering what girls feel like? Instead of looking for decent music that you don't understand to comment on? Twat
@stuf1977 actually i am a nerdy dumb ass, but you see most punks take shit like this and turn it around, but i agree, exceot for the wat girls feel like, and the forces are manipulative and liers, if you like them so much go join em, cobra fukin comander, not to mention the song is saying exactly what i am.
Still Fingle Fingers and bands fromnthe same era(The Clash/Sex Pistols Etc) are about what music is about They get you feeling they get you involved. It's a shame we don't have bands like tis today. More impotantly we have Stiff Little Fingers get out to see them when they play(unlike modern so called bands) your town I know I Will
I'm 20 nanoseconds old and I love this music. I wish people would stop listening to bands that no-one's heard of yet and give old stuff a try. And by old, I mean anything pre-2000, because I'm only 20 nanoseconds old and make other people feel old by saying this music is old.
@PunkersAgain i know what you mean mate , seen them down Poole about same time , SFL , undertones , clash . all great live , funny how my kids hate my music !!!!
@66GASKIN were in the boro did you see them, living in NZ, miss the boro, for the Rock Garden and down stairs at the town hall, were 1980,s punk was at its best!
to anyone who feels old when they listen to this: just letting you know there is still hope for this generation im 15 and i love them...good music never dies
Christ, I feel old. 22 and 1/2 years ago (specifically March 19, 1988) I saw them at the Barrowlands in Glasgow and like the reckless 19YO that I was after the concert I hitch-hiked back to Edinburgh in the middle of the night, somehow managing not to be assaulted on the way.
Probably my most favorite band, after The Clash, I don't know what you did in the U.K back then, but you probably made some of he best music to ever see the light of day
@grubster41 Young people want to feel old so we have the memories sorry for the millions of comments by people going im 13 and i like this music im not 13 lol
@UTFRG sorry but what does it matter how old you are? its not a club. you can say the same thing about listening to bach or beethoven and it will be equally retarded. music is timeless, good on the 13 year olds for actually thinking about what music to listen to!
