wooooow so it's quieter...that means you can't hear the beautiful engine roar...big whoop and i doubt it's any quieter if it is, then the engine probably sucks.
it's only been in production for 3 years now, it's way too early to call it reliable, based on ford's reputation, no one expects it to be good at all.
I own a 1992 Ford F-150 that is very reliable. I don't need a new car every 4 years.
I guess you're just another person who hates Ford because it's pretty much become a fad even though they're surpassing a lot of people in quality tests.
It's not that they break down retard, it's the fact that you lease the vehicle because you want change every few years.
And if you dissing German cars (which are overrated and overpriced either way, but still good quality) and bragging about British cars (which are overpriced and POS's) there's something wrong with you.
Wow you idiot. I don't know that many "poor people" who can afford a $550/month car payment... Poor people drive 1970 Datsun hatchbacks or... get this... NOTHING. Pull your head out you ignorant SOB.
I love American cars, they're rugged, tried & true. Whenever you visit the far reaches of Canada, it's not the latest Jag you see, or the Mercedes because those things would break within weeks. It's Ford, Dodge, Chevy trucks that will always rule the great west. Japanese and European makers are jealous of that. I do own a European car, they're good for the city but add two inches of water they're useless.
Have you ever heard of Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes G-Wagon, that thing is used by the Canadian Military man... And Asian trucks are fine in rugged terrain. The Toyota Hillux is the first and ever car to make to the magnetic north! American cars are dirt...
Yeah, I've heard of the Land Rover Defenders and Mercedes G-Wagon. They're great cars, not not good for common people. American trucks offer the same durability but at an affordable rate, far more dependable too. The problem with the Mercedes g-Wagon is a problem all others face with too, that's steep hill climbing. Hummers (GM) can do more than a G-Wagon.
Hey I like you that you're not overly aggressive when you want to make a point, so I'll give you respect for that, but I can't agree with you that American cars are more dependable then European ones. ill give u an example. I have a BMW X5 with 150,000 km on it, (around 95,000 miles) and not a single problem, ever, except for regualr inspections. My friend recently got a new Malibu and the check engine light came on like within 2 months..Just saying you need to think longterm too...
I own an Mercedes ML430, i was considering an X5. I think European cars, particular Mercedes and BMW are fabolous. But in the long run, sure they can last a long time but consider the conditions of northern Canada. rough roads, etc. Parts and labour are expensive for BMW/Merc, whereas GM it isn't. Look at the Buick Enclave, it's much superior to the GL, X5 and Escalade. American vehicles are kicking up their game
I don't know if you knew but ford owns jaguar, they are like disposible cars, so downgraded in the quality of materials, underengineered compared to the import competition (excluding brands like kia and hyundai) besides, yes the car might be a bit just cheaper than the rival brand, but in the long run it's going to be more expensive. engineering and craftsmanship over anything I say. they make nice pick ups though, if they want to win costumers they need to improve their standarts and quality.
I was never a huge fan of American vehicles either.. until I grew a pair. Now, I can say they're great vehicles (some of them) and Europeans make small cars, I don't like small cars. Doesn't get rid of the environment fast enough.
I'd buy an edge over any ugly ass lexus SUV. The RX has to be the ugliest SUV with the exception of the pontiac Aztec. Plus it's nothing more than a dressed up, overpriced highlander.
This is seriously silly...Lexus promoted themselves as being super quiet when the old ls 400 was new on the market in the early 90's because well lest face it cars were louder then...but for ford to come up today and position themselves as the quiter rival to ford is honestly very bad marketing...not to mention the lexus is a far superior car in buld quality and reliablilty
Lol, quiet test. Ford's really reaching. They may not win the quiet test, but lexus dosnt shamelessly sponsor american idol. And I've never seen Lexus attack a ford's reputation(tactless).
Actually, you can shave your beard or mustache on it :D
Funny how Ford keeps degrading itself. Lexus will always be on top. Ford will always be at the bottom unless they pick it up in the next 50 years, which I don't see happening >:]
I guess you don't have money for news paper that is why you don't who is the winner of JDPower quality study? Ford does make better cars than toyota now, in terms of quality.
these commercials are dumb but the car is sweet!

"How do you lose a reliability test?

"Wow that is unreliable!"

The Ford Edge is actually an extremely reliable car from what I've read and heard from buyers and auto enthusiasts.

That's really not too early to call it reliable. 3 years is good enough time to say "Hey my vehicle hasn't broken down yet".
Kooly1 2 years ago
No if any car breaks down within 3 years, it's definately unreliable, but I guess your one of those people that buy a new car after every 4 years.

That car is so nice! It's a shame they don't sell it in England, it's too big for our old roads. :(
frederix44 3 years ago
But Range/Land Rovers arn't?
konatown5 3 years ago
Land Rover is a British car company, used to be the more off-road car by Rover used for the army, now it's considered a normal car.
frederix44 3 years ago
Was, bought by Tata a Indian company
konatown5 3 years ago
Yes, it was also owned by Ford. Ford apparently bought Land Rover, copied its technology then sold it to Tata.
It's a shame, most British car companies have now been bought by foreign car companies.

Word, is Aston Martin still English? or it to has been bought out?

Uh. no.
i test drove the Edge, it is far from being quiet. But then again, Lexus RX350 isn't much quiet as the other Lexus models.
Edge can be quiet when you're CRUISING
BUT!!!
it is so loud when you're accelerating. the annoying accelerating sound coming from the engine is not good.
