I believe in the american dream because my parents are living proof of it. Both of my parents came from humble origins, my dad was very poor, living in Seoul, and my mom was being raised by her single mother. They both were criminally poor and it breaks my heart to hear it from time to time. But when my father moved to Chicago, things started to look up. He was working at the age of 12 but he was gaining money. And soon enough he was able to go to college at the University of Chicago. I'm proud.
@pidgeyson My mom she moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 to attend UCLA after working years and years to save up money. That's where my mom and dad met, as my dad had graduated and moved on to UCLA law school. They soon married and led a humble life, living in the cheapest apartments they could find, saving up money. My dad started to become wealthy because of his job as a lawyer, and then he and his friends founded a real estate company called Jameson Services. Today, it's one of the biggest.
@pidgeyson and now, after 40 years of living in the USA, my parents have made it. They both enjoy the luxuries of life, they both dine out and have wine. I was privileged enough to be born to wealthy parents, and I will never forget that. Because my parents lived the american dream, and they gave it to me. I am grateful for what this country has given my parents, and in turn what it has given to me. It has taken some luck, but the american dream is real.
There's a reason why it's called the "American DREAM", they're only real when you're asleep. You, a "nobody" wanna be the president of USA? Dream on, all past presidents including Obama are from the upper-upper financial class.
If you want the American dream, take some sleeping pills because the American dream is not for Americans anymore, it's for Mexicans. My dream is to remove socialistic obama from office along with the rest of his czar's because they are the final step in the destruction of America!
@mikestheman3 have u ever thought of how we got in this crap in the first place? and im glad he is helping the Mexicans America doesn't belong to anyone it is for the people that make it a great country these people that u don't like called Mexicans are doing the jobs that alot of us dumb Americans consider to be too low class to do.they come here and work hard and all of that!and the Obama thing i dont hate Obama because i know how we got here in the first place.Because of bush.
This is utter bee-ess and in no way reflects today's America. And to have Obama on there...really? That guy is such an insane liar...honestly...this video is an advertisement for something that doesn't exist...I can only wonder whom you work for that you're pushing this sort of propaganda.
The American Dream is not about social justice, equal poverty for all with no incentive nor reward to succeed. The American Dream is about the free market. It rewards those who make it with both money and feelings of accomplishment.
.
The American Dream is not a welfare state for all. It challenges all to become better to get the things they truly want in life. There will always be poor. Why should we abolish the middle class for the elitist desire to redefine the American Dream?
... how is it that.... every single youtube video somehow ... SOMEHOW... finds a way to be a political/racist/ethnic debate in the comments? i find it just simply AMAZING.
Some Americans have the dream of making it big in Hollywood or on the field. So while some look up to Neil Armstrong, Albert Einstein, or Rosa Parks, some look up to Babe Ruth, Michael Jackson, or Tiger Woods. That's why they were included, not because they are influential from a historical standpoint but from more of personal stance to some Americans.
Yes, This video should be shown to all Americans who are discouraged, or lost their way. The fact that those who are willing to work hard, be dillagent and steadfast with good morals, Can acheive that dream in our great America!
Beutiful! this video reminds us what the american dream is and why we must work to keep it thriving in america and spread it throughout, so that the idea of it being only "american" dissapears and the name "american dream" only remains in dedication of its origin.
