@TheOriginalThought1 Me. As a weapon they're about as noobish as you get in TF2. Accuracy not required for kills. Random stray crit rockets are the leading cause of my death in that game. You can blather on about skill all you want, but the fact remains that you have an explosive projectile that travels in a perfectly straight line. Skill helps, but you can spam rockets and get lots of kills. I've done it.

@SBFloppie Which is why I play on a non-random crit server. Against people that know to avoid choke points being bombarded by three soldiers at the same time and only pushing during an uber or through an alternate route. Not going to say that you can't spam rockets and hope for a kill, as much as you can with grenades, but as the skill level increases, you'll find your stray rockets kill less and you're going to have to calculate trajectory speed vs where your opponent will be at to kill.

@TheCrunchyMadness well the shoot and go flying is rocket jumping. you do it by jumping right after shooting the ground under you. the turning around really fast is called flicking. you set your mouse on a high sensativity and literally flick your mouse in one direction to make your character turn rapidly. timed with firing the rocked, you can do a quick rocket jump in almost any direction.

The majority of maps that the community plays doesn't have this type of rocket jumping potential available. And besides, rocketjumping too often will just get you killed anyway and you'll be stealing all the healthkits from your team. Pointless.

@cownaetion I think I've played enough hours to know what I'm talking about. I use rocketjumping quite often and hit the top of the scoreboard as well. But Rocketjumping is situational and this type of rocketjumping is way over the top and unpractical. NO maps have the necessity for this type of rocketjumping skill. But if you want to be useless to the team and steal all the medkits to keep your sorry ass alive from all that rocketjumping then by all means, keep sucking.

@Toast9v4 Typically, the normal rocket launcher is better, since you take less damage from jumps and the larger splash radius gives you more flexibility with jumping. The Direct Hit is a lot harder to jump with, since the faster rocket means you have to rethink your timing, and the smaller splash radius limits your range of movement. The greater damage can cause you to go at ridiculously high speeds if you can do it right though.
